SUO150 Happy Patriotic Birthday!

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the SUO150 “Summer Celebrations” Challenge! There are so many options with this theme- Father’s Day, 4th of July, Summer Vacations, Summer Birthdays, etc. and I decided to create a Mixed Media patriotic birthday card using Definitely Dahlia, Timeless Textures and Rose Wonder.

The idea to create a “flag” with the Definitely Dahlia background stamp was from a CASE of a card that I designed a few years ago using the Sunflower background stamp (see the Patriotic Sunflower post here).

I am also linking this card to the Seize the Birthday 06/06/16 "Sunny Day" Challenge (I did not opt for the "Sunny Day" dessert :-)) as well as the Splitcoaststampers' All Occasion Card Challenge for June.

I hope you will have a chance to check out my sister DesignTeam member samples at the SU-Only Challenge site as well as the Splitcoastampers' gallery....so pull out your Stampin’ Up! supplies and join in on the fun!

To create this card:

Lay the Definitely Dahlia background stamp face up on your craft table and with  Stampin’ Write Markers- Dapper Denim, Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand, create the “star” area and stripes directly on the stamp (remember that the stamp will be the reverse of what you color).

“Huff” on the ink to moisten, place a piece of Whisper White cardstock over the inked area, press with your fingers across the image, lift up and fussy-cut around the edges.
Ink the line image from Timeless Textures with Sahara Sand ink and stamp over the entire image.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and emboss a piece of Dapper Denim cardstock with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

De-static the embossed Dapper Demim layer with the Embossing Buddy™, stamp the sentiment from Rose Wonder with Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Trim both of the embossed panels and mount onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

Add the strip of embossed Cherry Cobbler cardstock (embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder) and the strip of Dapper Denim and Whisper White card scraps.

Add the flower to the card front and apply Clear Wink of Stella® to the Dapper Demim area on the “flag”.

Adhere Rhinestones to the dry embossed star areas as well as a few near the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Definitely Dahlia, Rose Wonder, Timeless Textures

Ink:  Versamark™, Sahara Sand, Stampin’ Write Markers- Dapper Denim, Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand; Clear Wink of Stella®

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Extra Thick Whisper White, Dapper Denim, Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Big Shot™, Woodgrain and Lucky Stars Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder, Rhinestones

Thanks again for stopping by and we hope to see your Stampin’ Up! Only project in our “SummerCelebrations” Challenge gallery!
