For They Shall Be Comforted

 Hi Friends!

Whew, I finally have a moment to create a blog post (we are in the middle of remodeling and have been extremely busy this past week)!

Also, sorry for the weird alignment in this blog post, I am still trying to get used to the new blogger  I am having issues with the photos not allowing the text to wrap, anyone else having this issue?

I wanted to play along with the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #143 Color Challenge (use yellow and

green only) and was also able to incorporate the Splitcoaststampers' SC23 Sketch Challenge (from 2005) into the layout (one more sketch finished for my own personal challenge, lol!).

I love playing along with online challenges and alsincluded the International Art & Soul #92 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (diagonal  Image-Die Cut- Embossing).

To create this card-

Ink the pear image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, color the image with water-based yellow and green markers and once satisfied with the coloring, die cut with a stitched rectangle die and mount onto a piece of black cardstock (trimming close to the edge).

Trim a piece of designer paper with yellow and green (and a bit of brown- I hope neutrals are OK), mount onto white cardstock, trim again and mount onto black cardstock.

Add the background panel to a white card base.

De-static a piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Blessings/Beatitudes 1 with Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the panel to a rectangle, mount onto another piece of black cardstock to thicken the layer and adhere behind the pear image.

Add a piece of white crochet lace and mount the entire layered panel to the card front using chipboard (or dimensional foam).

To finish off the card, use a clear glitter pen to add a bit of shimmer to the pear.

Stamp Sets: Sun Ripened (retired Stampin’ Up!), Blessings/Beatitudes (Stamp Simply)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Versamark™, Stampin’ Write Markers- Crushed Curry, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, Granny Apple Green,  Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, misc designer paper (from my stash- not sure of the manufacturer)

Accessories: Gemini, Jr™, My Favorite Things™ Stitched Rectangle STAX A2 Set 1, Embossing Buddy®, White and Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, White Crochet Lace

I also have a personal goal to ink up some of my older stamps and while I had the Sun Ripened stamp set on my desk, I did stamp a few more images and  I plan to share those cards in the new future.

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by and I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!

Meh. New blogger can go away. I'm tech savvy, but this is taking the biscuit! I love your card, that background is GORGEOUS! I like the flourish under your sentiment panel, nice touch. Thanks for joining in the fun at Retro Rubber this time Claire DT

Such a beautiful card for a sad time. I've had to make my share of sympathy cards this summer. You combined the challenges so well. Thanks for playing along with Retro Rubber!
