SC628 My Bounty is Boundless

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a great week so far!  It’s time for the new SC628 Sketch Challenge at Splitcoaststampers and I decided to create another masculine card using the Artistic Outpost January 2017 Release stamp set, The Captain along with the AO Steampunk Gears Dies, AO Vagabond Collection 6x6 Paper Pad, previously released AO Ephemera Backgrounds stamp set and ODBD Circles Dies and ODBD Pierced Circle Dies (all available at Our Daily Bread Designs).

If you have not had a chance to visit us at the AO Blog or Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Gallery as well as the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Die cut a circle for the ship image using the ODBD Circles Dies from the AO Vagabond Collection 6x6 Paper Pad. Ink the large ledger image stamp from AO Ephemera Backgrounds with dark brown ink and stamp over the panel.

2). Using a stencil and palette knife, apply crackle texture paste over the background and set aside to dry.

3). Die cut and emboss the layering circles from the ODBD Pierced Circles Dies from dark brown cardstock, apply brass and copper distress stain over the paper to create a metallic appearance.

4). Ink the ship image from the AO The Captain stamp set with embossing ink, then with archival black ink, stamp onto a piece of vanilla cardstock and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
Watercolor the image with distress inks- vintage photo, walnut stain and antique linen.  Ink the compass image from AO The Captain stamp set with the various distress inks and stamp in the corner of the panel.

5). Once the texture paste has dried, adhere the stamped ship panel from step #4 behind the die cut circle, distress the edges of the panel and mount onto a piece of vanilla cardstock, distressing the edges again.

6). Adhere the die cut layered circles from step #3 over the opening of the ship and add the antique brass brads.

7). Die cut and emboss the gears from dark brown cardstock using the AO Steampunk Gears Dies, color with the brass and copper distress stain and adhere to the smaller gears to the card front with antique brass brads.

8). Stamp the sentiment from the AO The Captain stamp set with archival black ink onto vanilla cardstock, trim the panel and distress the edges.  Apply antique linen distress ink directly to the paper and “huff” onto the compass image to re-activate the ink and stamp onto the upper left hand corner.  Mount onto dark brown cardstock and distress the edges before adding the knotted hemp twine and mounting onto the card with dimensional foam.

9). Add the largest gear on the right with dimensional foam to finish off the card.

I hope that I have inspired you with this card and if you have time, come join in the fun with the SC628 Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Challenge!  Hugs and have a blessed week, sweet friends!
