F4A380 Be Strong and Take Heart

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the new Splitcoaststampers Free For All  #380 Challenge and this week it is all about Machines and Tools.

I have the honor of designing a sample for every 5th Free For All Challenge and I wanted to focus on the Tools portion of the challenge so I could pull out my neglected (and retired) Stampin’ Up! Tool Shed background stamp.

I paired the Tool Shed background with a verse sentiment from the curren Scripture Collection 3 stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs and will also be linking this card to the Simon Says Wednesday "Anything Goes" Challenge..

To create this card:

1). On a craft mat, apply Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Stains, spritz with water and lay a piece of Extra Thick Whisper White cardstock into the ink, lift and dry with a Heat Tool.  Repeat the process adding Rusty Hinge Distress Stain to the mix and once you are satisfied, make sure that the panel is completely dry.

2). Use an Embossing Buddy® to de-static the background panel, ink the retired Tool Shed background stamp (SU!) with Versamark™, apply Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.  Use a Sponge Dauber with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink to apply a bit more ink around the tools, wipe off the excess with a dry paper towel and add a few splashes of clear water over the panel (lifting the water with a paper towel and lightly heat setting with the Heat Tool).

3). Heat emboss the verse from Scripture Collection 3 (ODBD) using black embossing powder onto a piece of retired Botanical Gardens Vellum DSP (SU!), distress the edges slightly with a Distressing Tool and adhere to the background panel.

4). Add a strip of 5/8” Black Satin Ribbon across the top, wrap the ribbon ends to the back.  Use a Crop-A-Dile™ to insert the large pewter grommet style eyelets into the ribbon and mount the entire panel onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

5). Adhere the panel to the Extra Thick Whisper White card base and add the little black nail die cut (from MFT Tool Time) to finish off the card.  FYI- I thought the little nails looked just like a cross and originally I had cut the entire set out and will use them for another project in the future :-)
