Hi Friends!
It's time for The Card Concept #102 {Homestyle Holiday} Challenge!
I love this beautiful
inspiration photo and was inspired by the reds, greens as well as the black gingham pillow to create a Shabby Chic/Mixed Media card using Home for the Holidays and
Texture Tiles 4 stamp sets from Sweet and Sassy Stamps.
I am also
participating with the Try Stampin on Tuesday "Tic Tac Toe Tuesday #6" Challenge (bottom row across – stamping, red,
plaid) along with the Double Trouble #14 Christmas/Holidayand/or combined with TSOT" Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #360-#361 “Anything Goes” Challenge.
Just a reminder that The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along
with a suggestion of design styles that you can choose from to create your
card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic,
Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media (or you can combine several
styles for your own style).
If you have not had a
chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope
you will find time to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!
To
create this card:
1).
De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the main
door image from Home for the Holidays with archival black ink, apply clear
embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool. Watercolor the image with distress inks and die
cut with a stitched oval die. Mount onto
another oval die cut from black cardstock and set aside.
2).
Ink the buffalo plaid image from the Texture Tile 4 stamp set with black
distress ink, stamp onto another piece of white cardstock. Line up and repeat the pattern until the entire
panel is completely filled, trim and mount onto a piece of black cardstock. Wrap a piece of red and black checked soft
grosgrain ribbon over the panel, wrapping the ends behind the back and mount onto
the white card base.
3).
Ink the wreath, dog and the sentiment from the Home for the Holidays stamp set with
black archival ink, stamp onto another piece of white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with
the heat tool. Once the embossing has cooled, fussy cut the dog and wreath image
and watercolor the wreath with water-based markers. Create a banner with the
sentiment using a trimmer and punch, layer onto black cardstock.
4).
Mount the main focal image onto the card front with dimensional foam. Add the fussy-cut dog and wreath along with
the sentiment with dimensional foam.
5).
Finish off the card by adding the large plaid bow and use a shimmer pen to add
glitter to the wreath and door.

Buffalo plaid...I'm originally from Western New York and that was a popular plaid there. Love the bold red bow against black plaid and the scene you created. Don't forget TSOT is partnering with us at Double Dare and you have already included Twisted Sister's optional twist "a hanging item" and Christmas/Holiday theme. Our link is on the TSOT's post and we would love you to link onto our challenge too, and you will be awarded 3 chances for our random draw prize. Hope you come back soon and join in future fun challenges.
Love the red, black, and white color combination! That black and red wood plaid ribbon is so bold and perfect! Love the rock-wall background for your vibrant red door! Then, I love those heart "dashes" between each of your sentiment words! This is a STANDOUT card!
Beautiful, Julie! I love seeing everyone's Christmas decorations, your festive door is perfect for the holidays! And you can't go wrong with that cute pup, either, lol. Thanks so much for playing at TSOT!
Who doesn't love a Buffalo plaid! (I am always reminded of living in New York State when I see it.) Your card is lovely and I have enjoyed looking at your artwork for a long time. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us at the Double Trouble Challenge Blog and Try Stampin' on Tuesday.
