TCC114 Be Joyful

Hi Friends!

Isn’t this a fun photo? I absolutely love all the bright colors of the galoshes as well as the wooden fence and was inspired by the garden theme/colors to create a One Layer Clean and Simple (CAS) card!

As I mentioned before, I have such a large collection of stamps that have either not been inked in years (if ever), so I am trying to give them some “love”.

I could not find a suitable garden boot image in my massive stash:-)  so I decided pulled out a very old Stampin’ Up! image from the Friendship Gardens stamp set (retired in 2006) with a sentiment from Verve Stamps (also retired).

In addition to The Card Concept Challenge, I am also linking this card to the Addicted to Stamps and More #339 CAS Challenge, the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #109 “Anything Goes”Challenge (the Friendship Gardens image is at least 13 years old and the Verve sentiment is well over a year as well) and the Word Art Wednesday #384-#385“Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- such wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Score and fold a piece of 4.25” x 11” heavy white cardstock in half.  De-static the card front with an embossing powder tool, stamp the garden image using Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.

2). Once the embossing has cooled, color the garden image using water-based markers (the colors I used are listed below) along with a water brush to blend the color.

3). Ink the sentiment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black ink and stamp onto the card front.

4). To finish off the card, use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the flower petals (difficult to see in the photo) and a black fine line pen to add definition to the soil line.

Stamp Sets:  Friendship Gardens (Stampin’ Up!), Good Work (Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black,  Memento™ Tuxedo Black; Stampin’ Write Markers- Balmy Blue, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso. Granny Apple Green, Gray Granite, Highland Heather, Lovely Lipstick, Pink Pirouette, Pineapple Punch, Soft Suede ; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen, Pilot™ V5 Extra Fine Black Gel Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White- Extra Thick

Tools/Accessories: AquaPainter™

Thank you, again, for taking the time to stop by!  Just a reminder that The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a suggestion of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media (or you can combine several styles for your own style).

I hope I have inspired you to create your own card based on our {Galoshes Galore} photo and link up to our gallery at The Card Concept- we would love to see your interpretation!! The challenge is open until Monday, May 13th at noon (EDT).
