TCC134 Love the Lord Your God

Hi Friends!

I have another card that I created for The Card Concept #134 {Mother’s Day} Challenge!

I was so inspired by the bouquet of flowers that I wanted to create a Clean and Simple card using an Altenew stamp set, Just Believe along with a sentiment from the Scripture Collection 9 from Divinity Designs LLC.

FYI- I have not had a chance to ink up this verse sentiment from the Scripture Collection 9 set in at least a few years and this is one of the cards that I created with the Altenew Just Believe set (which was a fairly recent purchase -six months ago or so.  The wonky rectangle die from My Favorite Things was also a recent purchase.

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool.  Ink the flower image  and sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink , stamp onto the prepared cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat emboss with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the floral image with water-based markers.
Die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto black cardstock and adhere to the white card base.

Add a bit of shimmer to the flower petals with a clear glitter pen to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Just Believe (Altenew), Scripture Collection 9 (Divinity Designs LLC)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers-Berry Burst, Petal Pink, Lemon Lime Twist; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Tools/Accessories: Gemini, Jr™, MFT Wonky Rectangle Stitched STAX Dies, Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, AquaPainter™

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by!  I hope I have inspired you to create your own card based on our {Mother’s Day} photo and link up to our gallery at The Card Concept- we would love to see what inspired you! The challenge is open until May 11th  at noon EST.

TCC134 Sending Prayers

Hi Friends!

Our challenge is based on an inspiration photo and I love the vintage feel of this photo.  I was inspired by the colors of the bouquet and the textures to create a Shabby and Vintage/Mixed Media card!

I pulled out a stamp set that I have not inked in a while, Roses and Prayers from Unity Stamps along with some neglected designer paper.  I incorporated the Splitcoaststampers SC499 Sketch Challenge (from 2014)  for the layout.

I love the texture of embossing folders and am making an effort to use more of mine (I have at least 100 different folders, so you may see more of them in the future).  This ornate lace folder is one of my favs :-)

To create this card:

Using a 3-D ornate lace embossing folder, emboss a piece of white cardstock.  Apply brushed corduroy distress ink over the embossed panel to “age” the paper, lightly distress the edges and mount onto black cardstock.  Mount the panel onto a white card base.

Layer a piece of designer paper onto black cardstock (for the background layer behind the focal image) and mount directly onto the card front.

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool.  Ink the rose flower image  with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink , stamp onto the prepared cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat emboss with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the image with water-based markers.  Trim and distress the panel, sponge brushed corduroy distress ink around the edges to “age” the image, mount onto black cardstock and distress the edges.

Mount the floral image panel onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Ink the sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink , stamp onto black cardstock, apply white embossing powder and heat emboss with a heat tool. Trim the sentiment and mount onto the card front.

Add a bit of shimmer to the flower petals with a clear glitter pen and pearls to the upper right hand corner of the floral image panel to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Roses and Prayers (Unity Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz; Tim Holtz™ Brushed Corduroy Distress;  Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, misc. green designer paper (not sure of manufacturer)

Tools/Accessories: Gemini, Jr™, Ornate Lace 3-D Embossing Folder (Crafters Companion), Distressing Tool, Embossing Buddy®, Clear and White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, AquaPainter™

Thanks again for taking the time to visit!  I hope I have inspired you to create your own card based on our {Mother’s Day} photo and link up to our gallery at The Card Concept- we would love to see what inspired you! The challenge is open until May 11th  at noon EST.

I Will Never Leave You Nor Forsake You

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you as healthy as possible with social distancing.  Hopefully, soon we can get back to a new “normal” , but until then, I have been stamping more than ever.

Unfortunately, I am finding it difficult to set aside the time to post to my blog :-)  I have over fifty different card designs to post and am still working on inking up images that have been neglected and/or never inked before.  Plus, while I have the neglected stamps out, I am making several different card designs with each set.

Today I am sharing a card using the Pretty Peonies stamp set (SugarPea Designs) along with a verse sentiment from Fear Not (Stamp Simply).  I find this verse to be such comfort, especially during this time in our lives.

This is the first time I have had a chance to ink up the Pretty Peonies image (I have had this set in my stash for almost a year) and for this card, I used the SC281 Sketch Challenge from Splitcoaststampers for the layout.  This sketch was from 2010 and I am so thankful that the SCS challenges do not expire :-)

In addition to using the neglected floral stamp, I was able to incorporate several patterns of the retired Domestic Goddess designer paper from my stash.  While it will most likely take the rest of my life to use up all of my supplies, I am having fun creating and even with just a little bit of paper, etc. on the cards, I am making some progress, lol!

In addition to the sketch challenge, I am playing along with the Simon Says Wednesday “Flower Power” Challenge, the Word Art Wednesday#436-#437 “Anything Goes” Challenge and the Tic-Tac-Toe #061 Challenge.  I was able to use almost every square on the tic-tac-toe board (except “pink”) and that is if faux stitching is allowed for “stitching”.

If faux stitching does not qualify as "stitching", this card uses the following rows for the Tic-Tac-Toe #061 Challenge- top row across (Markers- Blooms- Ribbon/Twine), the middle row down (Blooms- Designer Paper- Layers) and the far right row down (Ribbon/Twine- Rectangles- Red).

This card was a bit time consuming due to all of the layers but very easy to create:

Stamp the images and sentiment with archival black ink onto white cardstock and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Watercolor the floral image with water-based markers (drying the layers in between and being careful not to "scrub" the paper).

Once you are satisfied with the watercolor, use a clear glitter pen on the petals for a bit of shimmer.

Stencil the background behind the floral with distress oxide ink and die cut the image with a stitched rectangle die.

The background layer was dry embossed with a retired embossing folder (love using my stash!) and all of the rectangle/oval layers were mounted onto black cardstock before adhering to the card base.

A bit of silver cord (twine) was looped behind the oval sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Pretty Peonies (SugarPea Designs), Fear Not (Stamp Simply)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Bermuda Bay, Poppy Parade; Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide, Spectrum Noir™ Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Coastal Cabana, retired Stampin’ Up! Domestic Goddess Designer Series Paper

Accessories: Gemini, Jr.™, My Favorite Things Dies- Stitched Oval STAX, Stitched Rectangle Set A1 STAX, retired Square Lattice Embossing Folder, AquaPainter™, Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Memory Box Heartwood Stencil, Stencil Brush, retired Silver Cording

I have been very busy creating cards and will try to post more frequently, but I must be very slow at the posting stage (it takes me at least several hours to create a blog post with the photographing, etc.) :-)

I have not monetized my blog since I prefer to keep my art as a hobby and not a business.  I love the friendships I have found with those of you who share the same passion and hope that my cards and blog posts inspire you to create.

I have tried to simplify the steps in my blog posts, but I know some of you are new at cardmaking, so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask in the comments.

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- your visits are so encouraging to me!  I am planning on posting a few more cards throughout this week (The Card Concept's new challenge will start on Wednesday) and I hope you will have a chance to stop by again soon!  Hugs, sweet friends!

TCC133 May Kindness Return to You

Hi Friends!

I love this beautiful floral bouquet and was inspired by the colors of the flowers as well as the script on the flower pitcher to create a Clean and Layered/ Mixed Media card!

I decided to pull out a new to me stamp set/coordinating die, Grateful for Everything (Concord & 9th) and since the main image is very long and narrow, I made the card long and narrow as well (approx. 8 ½” L x 4 ¼” H).

I bought this set on sale a while ago and thought that the flowers would be perfect for this challenge.  I am still trying to ink up the stamps that I own over the next few years, lol!

I am linking this card to The House That Stamps Built #A820 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (Dimension,Pastels, Dew Drops) and the Simon Says Monday “E is for ?” Challenge.  "E" is for Embossing on my card- Heat and Dry Embossing.

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool.  Ink the flower image  with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink (I inked just the lower part of the sentiment only), stamp onto the prepared cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat emboss with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the image with water-based markers and die cut with the coordinating die.

Ink the retired script stamp from Notable Notions (Stampin’ Up!) with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink, repeatedly stamp onto a piece of white cardstock (approx.. 4” x 8”).  Trim and mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim close to the edge.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock with the retired Square Lattice embossing folder, add the strip in the center of the background panel.  Adhere the entire panel to a white card base (approx. 8.5” L x 4 ¼” H).

Stamp the sentiment from Grateful for Everything using Versafine™ Black Onyx ink onto black cardstock, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, fussy cut the sentiment.

Mount the floral spray image and sentiment to the card front with dimensional foam.
To finish off the card, use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the flower petals, an extra fine white paint pen to add highlights to the flower centers and Pearl Nuvo™ Crystal Drops.

Stamp Sets:  Grateful for Everything (Concord & 9th), Notable Notions (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Granny Apple Green, Pear Pizzazz, Balmy Blue, Berry Burst; Tim Holtz™ Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide; Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen, Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Nuvo™ Pearl Crystal Drops

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Tools/Accessories: Gemini, Jr™, Grateful Dies (Concord & 9th), Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder,  Embossing Buddy®, Clear and White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Thanks again for taking the time to visit!  I hope I have inspired you to create your own card based on our {Hello Spring} photo and link up to our gallery at The Card Concept- we would love to see what inspired you! The challenge is open until April 27th  at noon EST.

He Stilled the Storm

Hi Friends!

I am finally getting a chance to post a few of the cards that I have designed recently- this card was designed using the True North stamp set from STAMPlorations™ (I have owned this set for over a year and this is the first time that I had a chance to ink it up).

I am also making an effort to create a card for each of the Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Challenges and this card uses the SC382 Sketch for the layout (this sketch was from 2012- again, so thankful that the SCS challenges do not have a cut-off date).

To create this card-

Ink the boat image, compass and sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.
Using water-based markers, color the ocean area and the ship.  Watercolor the sky with distress oxide inks and once dry, use an extra fine black marker to add shadows and a few birds.

Fussy cut the compass and die cut the boat/sentiment panel with a square die.  Mount both onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.  Add a silver brad to the center of the compass.

For the background panel, layer a piece of white cardstock onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge.  Layer a piece of turquoise designer paper onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge, add the ½” Black Seam Binding, add a few silver brads and adhere the entire panel onto the white card base.

Mount the focal image and compass to the card front using dimensional foam.

Finish off the card using a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the ocean.

Stamp Sets: True North (STAMPlorations™)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Pool Party, Tempting Turquoise, Smoky Slate; Tim Holtz™ Broken China, Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Pigma Micron™ .03 Black Pen

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Tempting Turquoise Designer Series Paper

Accessories: Gemini, Jr.™, Square Dies (retired Stampin’ Up!), Silver Brads, ½” Black Seam Binding, AquaPainter™

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a blessed Easter weekend!

What A Savior

Hi Friends!

I am sharing another fairly easy design for Easter that I created this week using the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamp Set, What A Savior.

I have not inked this set up in a while and since I had it out for the previous post (the floral image), I went ahead and made several cards with a white background and one with a black background.

I like to participate with online challenges and will be linking this card to the Inspire.Create.Challenge #066 “Easter” Challenge along with the Watercooler Wednesday #266 “All About Occasions” Challenge.

Easter is one of my favorite holidays and although it may be a bit different than normal with our "social distancing" due to the pandemic, we can still rejoice in our Risen Savior and worship online with our church family!

To create this card-

Ink the sentiment image from What A Savior with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, die cut with a stitched oval die.  Die cut another oval from black cardstock, split in half and layer behind the embossed sentiment.

Ink the floral image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink , stamp onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Watercolor with water-based markers and fussy cut the image.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock with an ornate lace 3-D embossing folder, trim and mount onto black cardstock.  Add a strip of 1” black satin ribbon and adhere to a white card base.

Mount the layered oval sentiment and floral image with dimensional foam.

To finish off the card, use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the petals.

Stamp Sets: What A Savior (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, Pear Pizzazz; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: Gemini, Jr.™, Ornate Lace 3-D Textured Embossing Folder (Crafters Companion™), AquaPainter™, 1” Black Satin Ribbon
