TCC162 He Will Direct Your Paths

Hi Friends!

Welcome to The Card Concept #162 Fall Fun Challenge

For those of you who are not familiar with The Card Concept Challenge, we are a bi-weekly challenge that uses an inspiration photo for you to create a card.

What a gorgeous inspiration photo!  I can just imagine sitting on this porch and enjoying the crisp autumn air, can’t you?

Will your card be inspired by the colors in the photo (or color dots), the elements, the textures, the theme or something else?

You can choose one card-making style or a combination of styles, the choice is yours, plus our Design Team of eleven ladies create a card to help give you even more inspiration!  We hope you are inspired to join us!

I was inspired by the colors, the fall theme and the Impression Obsession stamp (Colonial Spring- I have it in a wood mount but this image, I believe is still available) that I bought over 20 years ago and paired  with a retired Verve Stamps verse sentiment to create a Clean and Layered Mixed Media card!

This would be the perfect scene to see from that porch on that relaxing autumn day, right?

I enjoy participating with other online challenges and will be linking to one of my favs, Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #169 “Anything Goes” Challenge (this challenge requires that you use an image at least one year old).  As I mentioned above, I have had the Colonial Spring image for at least 20 years and the Verve verse sentiment stamp is over 5 years old as well.

I am also linking to the Use Your Stuff #433 Autumn/Fall "Double Trouble Collaboration" Challenge and the Addicted to Stamps and More #416 “Make Your Mark” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit The Card Concept, or the other challenge site syet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the Impressions Obsession Colonial Spring image with Versafine Onyx Black ink, stamp onto the prepared panel, apply Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, color the image with water-based markers and watercolor pencils.

Die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge.

Mount onto a panel of Very Vanilla cardstock (die cut with a larger stitched rectangle die), mount onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto Cajun Craze cardstock.

Adhere the background panel to a white card base.

Repeat the steps above to heat emboss the Verve Stamps verse sentiment onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Die cut the sentiment with a banner die, trim to fit the panel and adhere to the card front to finish off the card.

Other than the coloring of the image, this card was quick and easy to create!

Stamp Sets:  Colonial Spring (Impression Obsession), Scripture Medley 1 (retired Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums:  Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Crushed Curry, Hello Honey, Tangerine Tango, Granny Apple Green, Cajun Craze, Smoky Slate; Watercolor Pencils in similar shades

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Cajun Craze (all Stampin’ Up!)

Joy to the World

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a quick Christmas card designed with the new stamps and paper from the October release along with other stamps and supplies from Stamp Simply!

Look at all those gorgeous stamps and coordinating dies in this new release!

I chose the Scripty Background Minis 2 set for my card- I love the fonts used as well as the four different verse sentiments in each stamp set.  The Scripty Background Minis are available individually- Scripty Background Minis 1 and Scripty Background Minis 2 or as a bundle (both sets in the bundle are pictured below).

Also, I absolutely love the new Sending Joy 6x6 paper pad from Studio Light- so many pretty patterns for quick Christmas cards! Add a stamped sentiment and a bit of layering and you are finished!

I will be linking this card to the Word Art Wednesday #513- #514 “Anything Goes” Challenge as well as the Watercooler Wednesday #326 “Helen’s All About Occasions” Challenge.  I am so far behind on creating Christmas cards, I am thankful that this one was fairly quick and easy :-)

If you have not had a chance to visit the Stamp Simply blog or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of the Sending Joy designer paper with an embossing powder tool and trim to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”.

Ink the Joy to the World background stamp from the Scripty Background Minis Set 2 with Versamark ink, stamp repeatedly (offsetting as you stamp) across the background, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, use a clear glitter marker to add shimmer to the trees and snow line, set aside.

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the reindeer and Joy to the World ornament image from Farmhouse Christmas with Versafine Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, carefully fussy-cut around the images.

Layer onto another piece of white cardstock and fussy cut again (this gives the pieces a bit more strength).

Add a piece of silver cord to the ornament and mount the ornament onto the stamped background panel with dimensional foam (wrapping the ends of the cord behind the designer paper).

Mount onto a piece of black cardstock and adhere to a white card base.

Add the reindeer image with dimensional foam and a looped bow from the silver cord to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Scripty Background Minis Set 2, Farmhouse Christmas  (Stamp Simply)

Ink/Mediums: Versamark, Versafine Onyx Black, Zig Wink of Stella Brush- Clear Glitter Marker

Cardstock/Paper:  White, Black;  Studio Light- Sending Joy 6x6 Paper Pad

Accessories/Tools:  Embossing Powder Tool, Clear and White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Silver Cord
