Be Still and Know

 

 

Hi Friends!

This week the Design Team at Stamp Simply are sharing Mother’s Day and/or Father’s Day cards!

I decided to create a Father’s Day card that could be sent to one of the pastors at our church or to a friend of mine who loves the ocean.

I pulled out the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day 8x8 paper pad as well as two different stamp sets, dies and other accessories all from Stamp Simply!

This card was created by heat embossing the “Be Still” sentiment from the Farmhouse Scriptural Quotes with clear embossing before die cutting with the Fishtail Sentiment Banners Dies.

The main lighthouse image and backgrounds are from the Catch of the Day G45 8x8paper pad.  The edges were distressed lightly before layering onto the dark blue cardstock.  FYI- Black Soot Distress Oxide ink was sponged over the edges before layering the distressed panels onto the cardstock.

I decided to create an easel card so that the card could be displayed year round (possibly on the recipient’s desk, if they prefer).

The Light of the World

Today I am sharing a card designed with the He is the Light stamp/die bundle along with Graphic 45 Catch of the Day 8x8 paper and other supplies from Stamp Simply!

I love the images and sentiment/verses in the He Is The Light stamp set and the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day paper goes perfectly with this set for masculine and feminine cards!

I have a personal goal to create a card for each of the 886+ sketches at Splitcoaststampers and was able to use the SC883 Sketch for the layout on this card.

I am also playing along with the Try It On Tuesday “In with the New” (the He is the Light stamp set is brand new)  and the Word Art Wednesday #527-#58 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

To create this card:

De-static white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the lighthouse image and verse sentiment from the He is the Light stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink onto the prepared cardstock, apply clear embossing powder over the sentiment only, heat both images with a heat tool.

Color the lighthouse image using water-based markers and use Antique Linen Distress ink to “age” the paper. 

Use the coordinating die from He is the Light bundle to die cut the lighthouse and the Spellbinders Elegant Oval Dies to die cut the verse sentiment.

Layer the four rectangles from the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day paper onto dark navy cardstock (using the SC883 sketch for the layout). 

Create the photo corners with a photo corner punch (or from a scrap square piece of dark navy cardstock on a diagonal and then trimming the little corners). Use a piercing tool to create holes for the pewter brads.

Mount the layered background panel onto white cardstock. Use Antique Linen distress ink to age the white background before mounting onto dark navy cardstock.

Add the horizontal layer and wrap the kraft twine over the panel.  Mount the entire panel onto a white card base.

Adhere the die cut verse sentiment onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Add the colored lighthouse to finish off the card.

He Stilled the Storm

Today I am sharing a card designed using the new release stamp bundle, He Stilled the Storm and Graphic 45 Catch of the Day 8x8 paper, all from Stamp Simply!   

The He Stilled the Storm bundle is part of the October release, along with another lighthouse stamp bundle, He is the Light.  Both sets feature lighthouses from Michigan along with several different verse sentiments- perfect for all year round!

Also, the Graphic Catch of the Day  8x8 paper is perfect for both stamp bundles!

I am still working my way through the Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Challenges and decided to incorporate the SC461 Sketch into the layout for this card.

To create this card:

Ink the lighthouse image from He Stilled the Storm with waterproof black ink, stamp onto a piece of white cardstock and heat set with a heat tool.

Watercolor the image using water-based markers and die cut with the coordinating die from the He Stilled the Storm bundle  (die cut another lighthouse shape from white cardstock and layer behind the stamped/colored image).

Emboss a piece of vanilla cardstock with the 3-D Lumber embossing folder for the background panel along with a square shape for the central layering panel.

Trim the larger panel of embossed vanilla cardstock to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”.  Adhere to a piece of navy cardstock, ink the edges with black soot distress ink

Trim the blue Graphic 45 Catch of the Day designer paper into a large square, cut on a diagonal and mount onto navy cardstock.

Ink the edges of the navy cardstock with black soot distress ink and mount onto the opposite corners of the background panel.

Mount a piece of the red patterned paper from Catch of the Day onto a larger rectangle piece of navy cardstock.

 Stamp the sentiment from He Stilled the Storm onto vanilla cardstock with waterproof black ink, heat set with a heat tool.  Trim to fit the lower part of the navy rectangle from the step above.

Mount the rectangle onto the card front and adhere the card front to a white card base.

Stamp the ship wheel and rope image from He Stilled the Storm onto vanilla cardstock using waterproof ink, watercolor with water-based markers and die cut with the coordinating He Stilled the Storm dies. 

Adhere the rope image directly to the seam of the red designer paper and sentiment layer.

Layer the embossed woodgrain vanilla cardstock onto navy cardstock and mount onto the rectangle panel.

Add the die cut colored He Stilled the Storm image using dimensional foam and mount the die cut ship wheel with dimensional foam as well.

To finish off the card, use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the water.

Catch of the Day- Another Easel Card

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a card designed with the new Graphic 45 Catch of the Day 8x8 Paper Pad and a sentiment from the Stamp Simply Words of Encouragement stamp set along with dies/supplies (from Stamp Simply)!

 

I absolutely love this Graphic 45 Catch of the Day  paper!  

So many gorgeous patterns and perfect for summer cards as well as for masculine cards for the men in your life!

I decided to create another easel card was able to incorporate the Splitcoaststampers’ SC488 Sketch into the layout!  FYI- those of you who follow me know that I have a personal goal to create a card for each of the over 850+ SCS sketches- one more to mark off my list, woohoo!

I am also participating in the  Simon Says Monday “Red, White and/or Blue” Challenge  and the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge.  

If you have not had a chance to visit the Stamp Simply blog or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Create the easel card base from 4 ¼” x 11” white cardstock (score at 5 ½” and on one of the 5 ½” panels, score again at 2 ¾”)- see the   Splitcoaststampers’ Easel Card tutorial for additional instructions.

Trim the panels from the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day paper – for the card front (sketch layer #5) from the red background paper- trim to approx. 3 ¾” x 5” .  For sketch layer #3 (from the dark blue patterned rectangle)- trim to approx. 2 ½” x 3 ½”.  Trim the lighthouse (for layer #4) from the cut-apart paper to approx. 3 ¼” x 4 ¼”.  

For the lower easel part of the card: from the red background paper- trim a piece approx. 3 ¾” x 2 ½”. Trim the strip of postage stamp border to approx. 3 ¾”.

Mount each of the above trimmed panels onto white cardstock, trim close to the edge.  Using a blending brush, apply Antique Linen Distress ink to the edges to “antique” the paper. Mount all onto navy cardstock and trim again, close to the edge.

To create the main card front panel, add the dark blue patterned rectangle (layer #2) directly to the red patterned background panel (layer #1).

Adhere a few pieces of cheesecloth to the upper and lower right-hand area, and to the middle left-hand near the top edge of the dark blue rectangle panel.

Adhere the lighthouse panel with dimensional foam (or chipboard)- for layer #4.

Fussy cut the postage stamp images from the designer paper, mount onto navy cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Adhere two postage stamps over the cheesecloth on the left (for layer #3 of the sketch) and one on the lower right (for layer #5).

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Words ofEncouragement with Versafine Onyx Black  ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the sentiment with a circle die, mount onto a piece of navy cardstock (die cut with a larger circle die).  Use a blending brush to apply Antique Linen Distress ink to “antique” the paper.

Adhere the layered postage stamp strip to the red patterned paper rectangle (for the easel base) and mount the sentiment using dimensional foam and/or chipboard.

Adhere the sentiment panel onto the lower portion of the easel base with dimensional foam (or chipboard).

To finish off the card, adhere the layered lighthouse card front to the upper part of the easel base.
