The Card Concept #199 Country Style

Hi Friends!

Welcome back to The Card Concept! We are thrilled to be back with our inspiration challenges and this year, we are changing things up a bit!

We are changing the challenge to monthly (vs bi-weekly) so that more time is allowed for you to play along!

Our first monthly challenge is our #199 {Country Style} Challenge!

What will inspire your card?  Will it be the overall theme, the actual elements (rooster, barn, ribbons, flowers, etc.), the colors, textures or something else?

I love the chicken, barn, flowers, gingham and all of the elements, but was inspired by the sunflowers for my Shabby and Vintage Mixed Media card!  I have been hoarding this Graphic 45 French Country paper for years and thought it would work great for this challenge!

If you have not already visited us at The Card Concept, I hope you will find the time to do so.  Gorgeous inspiration from the rest of my DT sisters!

This was a very easy card to create:

Trim the background paper to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”, distress the edges and adhere to a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” black card front.

Wrap the gold ribbon across the card and adhere the ends behind the card front.

Adhere the panel to a white card base.

Add the strips of lace over the ribbon (FYI- this was an after thought for me, I had a snall scrap of this lace left over so I tucked it in under the mounted floral panel).  I do not like to throw anything away, lol!

Trim the sunflower cut-a-apart from the French Country paper pack, de-static the lower right hand corner with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment from Fear Not with Versamark ink, apply gold embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, mount onto white cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto black cardstock.

Adhere to the card front with dimensional foam and add a few pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Fear Not (Stamp Simply)

Inks/Mediums: Versamark

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Graphic 45 French Country

Accessories/Tools: Embossing Powder Tool, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Lace and Gold Ribbon (both from my stash), Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit! I hope you are inspired to create a card and join us for our #199 {Country Style} Challenge at The Card Concept!

Blessings and Prosperity

Hi Friends!

This week at the Stamp Simply blog, the Stamp Simply Design Team have been sharing their choice of a variety of card styles and images.

If you have not had a chance to check out my Sister DT cards yet, I hope you will do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

I love vintage style cards and especially Graphic 45 papers!  I am sharing a very easy  card using the Fruit of the Spirit stamp set  along with the Graphic 45 Fruit & Flora 8x8 paper pad along with other lace, ribbon and accessories.

This card was fairly quick to create:

Trim the Graphic 45 Fruit & Flora 8x8 paper for the background and adhere to purple cardstock.

Add the deep purple designer paper along with the flat peach lace and purple seam binding (wrapping the ends of the ribbon behind the panel).

Mount the entire background panel onto a white card base.

Adhere the
cut-a-part with the peach image onto purple cardstock and adhere to the card front with dimensional foam.

De-static another piece of the Graphic 45 designer paper with an embossing powder tool, ink the verse sentiment from Fruit of the Spirit with Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamp onto the prepared paper, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Mount the embossed sentiment onto a piece of purple cardstock and add the photo corners (I cut these by hand from small squares of purple cardstock).

Add the sentiment to the card front with dimensional foam and adhere a few pearls to finish off the card.

As many of you who follow my blog know, I enjoy playing along with online challenges and am linking my card to the A Place to Start July 2023 Anything Goes Challenge.

Well Groomed Sympathy- Love Changes Everything

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a quick pet sympathy card designed with the Graphic 45 Well Groomed 8x8 paper pad along with stamps and other supplies, all  from Stamp Simply.

The Graphic 45 Well Groomed pad is perfect for any dog or cat lover- whether it be sympathy, thank you or just because cards/mini albums, etc.  The bright colors and fun patterns as well as the neutral patterns are gorgeous and can coordinate with other Graphic 45 papers.

As many of you who follow my blog know, I enjoy playing along with online challenges and I will be playing along with the Word Art Wednesday #591- #592 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to check out the inspiration from the Stamp Simply Design Team or the Word Art Wednesday Challenge site, I hope you will take the time to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

This card was another fairly quick one to create (lately, I have been so busy I am trying to design easier cards that are flatter for mailing).

Trim two of the patterns of the 8x8 Well Groomed paper to approx. 4” x 2 ½”, distress the edges with scissors (or a distressing tool).

Adhere to a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of black cardstock and add a piece of the ivory Gabriella lace to cover the seams.

Die cut a heart using the Farmhouse Pierced Nesting Hearts Die from white cardstock, de-static the upper left portion of the heart and stamp the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Repeat the embossing steps above with the pet sympathy sentiment and set aside.

“Age” the paper using Antique Linen and Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink, gently wiping the ink off the embossed sentiments.

Using one of the cut-a-parts from the Well Groomed paper pad, mount onto black cardstock, round the edges and add the pet sympathy sentiment onto the lower part of the image (covering up the words on the cut-apart) and rounding the edges.

Adhere the heart directly to the upper background. Cut a small piece of the border to add the upper right hand area of the heart.

Add the dog image/pet sympathy rectangle with dimensional foam and finish off the card with a few black rhinestones.

Stamp Sets: Sympathy Sentiments Set 2

Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Tim Holtz Antique Linen and Ground Espresso Distress Oxide Ink

Cardstock/Paper:  White, Black; Graphic 45 Well Groomed 8x8 Paper Pad

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr., Stamp Simply Steel Dies- Farmhouse Pierced Nested Hearts, Venise Lace- 1.75” Gabriella – 1 yd- IvoryBlack Rhinestones, Blending Brush, Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Distressing Tool

TCC193 Vintage Bee

Hi Friends!

Welcome to our #193 {New Arrival} or {Busy Bee} Challenge at The Card Concept! The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge and we would love for you to create a card based on one (or both) of our inspiration photos and join us!

I love both of these photos- The New Arrival is so cute! I love all of the sweet animals, the gorgeous cake and flowers.  Wonderful for spring cards, wedding, new baby, etc. cards!

I also love the Busy Bee photo- that room looks wonderful with all of the bees, black and yellow and fabulous patterns!

I decided to create a Shabby and Vintage Mixed Media card based on the Busy Bee photo.  I had the retired Graphic 45 French Country designer paper in my stash and thought it would be perfect for this challenge.

I enjoy participating with other online challenges (I know how much work goes into maintaining a challenge blog and want to give support).  I will be linking this card to the #102 “Layer It Up” Challenge at the Craft Rocket Challenge.  I also used the Splitcoaststampers #SC883 Sketch for the layout (modified slightly- I did not create a belly band).

If you have not already visited us at The Card Concept, I hope you will find the time to do so.  Gorgeous inspiration from the rest of the DT as well as the other challenge sites.

This card was fairly quick and easy to create.

Trim the pieces of Graphic45 French Country 6x6 Paper to approx. 2” x 2 ⅝”, distress the edges, apply Vintage Photo distress ink over the edges.

Mount the alternating panels onto black cardstock.

Add a piece of lace trim to the center.

Mount the vintage bee image onto black cardstock, trim and mount again onto the G45 basic patterned cardstock, distress the edges and sponge vintage photo distress ink over the edges.

Mount the layered butterfly image with dimensional foam onto the middle of the card.

Mount the card front onto a white card base.  Add vintage photo distress ink over the edges.

Add a few pieces of Graphic 45 Washi Tape and apply the Nuvo™ Mustard Seed Embellishment Mousse with an honeycomb stencil and putty knife to the upper right and lower left hand panels.

Add a few pearls on the corners to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: None

Inks/Mediums: Tim Holtz™ Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Nuvo™ Mustard Seed Embellishment Mousse

Cardstock/Paper: White, Black, French Country (retired Graphic 45)

Accessories/Tools: Distressing Tool, Putty Knife, Honeycomb Stencil, Sponge Dauber, Lace (retired Stampin’ Up!), Kaisercraft Self-Adhesive Round Pearls- Pearls

I was inspired by the vintage heart embellishments inserted into each flower pot as well as colors for my Shabby Chic and Vintage card!

I immediately thought of the Graphic 45 Elegance Journalingcards and paired one with some of the new Carta Bella My Valentine 6x6 paper as well as a sentiment from the Thinking of You Rose clear stamp set (all from Stamp Simply).

I hope you will have a chance to check out the rest of the Design Team cards at The Card Concept- we would love to have you participate with us!

This card incorporates basic card making steps- heat embossing for the sentiment before die cutting with a circle die, ribbon, distressing the edges of the papers and you are done!

I have a few friends that love to sew- this will be perfect for one of them.

Stamp Sets:  Thinking of You Rose (Stamp Simply)

Easel Card Note Holder with Matching Journaling Tag

Hi Friends!

This week at Stamp Simply, we are celebrating a Week of Gifting with gift tags, packaging, gift ideas, etc.

I decided to combine the gift packaging with part of the gift by designing an easel card note holder, homemade gift bag and a matching gift journal tag using stamps, dies, paper and other supplies from Stamp Simply!

Gift in Envelope with Journaling Tag

I absolutely love Graphic 45 papers and this beautiful collection, Fruit & Flora is perfect for cards, tags and projects all year round.

I saw this idea from the Graphic 45 Easel Note Card Holder video  and used the Splitcoaststamper easel card tutorial and modified it a bit for my project.

I created the envelope from 8 ½” x 11” Kraft cardstock (60 lb weight) by measuring the finished folded easel card with the note pad included, added a gusset on each side and bottom, and finished off the front with a piece of the Graphic 45 Fruit & Flora paper.

The folded easel card fits into the handmade envelope (gently to not crease the lace).

The matching journal tag was created with the
Tim Holtz Tag Collection dies , is blank on the back for journaling and helps to close the envelope with the purple seam binding.

I absolutely love the laces at Stamp Simply and used the gorgeous 1.75” Gabriella lace on the easel card along with the ¾” Lucia lace at the bottom of the journaling tag.

The sage green twill ribbon on the easel portion of the card was a perfect match to that beautiful Fruit & Flora Graphic 45 paper as well covering the edge of the lace.

Easel Note Card Holder- open

Both of the verse sentiments are from the new stamp set, Autumn Silhouettes and were heat embossed onto vanilla cardstock before die cutting with the Farmhouse Sentiment Banner Dies.

The easel card was finished off with a few pearls on the easel portion as well as the cover of the sticky note portion.

I enjoy participating with online challenges and will be linking this project to the Word Art Wednesday #567-#568 Anything Goes Challenge.
