TCC205 Spring Has Sprung

Hi Friends!

Welcome to our #205 {Spring Has Sprung} Challenge at the The Card Concept!

I was inspired by the bluebirds and blossoms for my Clean and Layered Mixed card.

I love watching birds and bluebirds are definitely a sign of spring here in the Mid-Atlantic region.

We are looking forward to seeing what inspires your card from our inspiration photo! Will it be the overall theme, the birds and blossoms, the colors, textures or something else?

Those of you who follow my blog know that I have been trying to take the time to ink up some of my older stamps in my stash.

It has been several years since I have inked up the Birds & Blooms stamp set (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) and I paired it with the retired Scripture Medley Five stamp set for the verse sentiment (Verve Stamps).

We are looking forward to seeing what inspires your card! Will it be the overall theme, the colors, items in the photo/textures or something else?

If you have not already visited us at The Card Concept, I hope you will find the time to do so.  Such gorgeous inspiration from the rest of my DT sisters!

To create this card:

On a piece of white cardstock, use a water brush to apply Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink to create clouds for the background (they are difficult to see in the photo).

Dry the panel with a heat tool before die cutting with a stitched rectangle die.

De-static the panel and stamp the verse sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink, , apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Mount the panel onto a piece of blue cardstock before adding to the white card base.

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the floral image along with the two bluebirds with Versafine Onyx Black ink, stamp onto the prepared panel, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, color the images with colored pencils, distress inks and distress crayon.  Use an extra fine white paint pen to add accents to the bird’s eyes and floral centers,

Fussy cut all of the images and directly mount the floral image along with the smaller bird.  Add the larger bird with dimensional foam to finish off the card.
