Happy Mother's Day Iris

Hi Friends!

Happy Mother’s Day weekend!  Today I am sharing a fairly easy Mother’s Day card using stamps, dies, and paper all from Stamp Simply

This card incorporates an embossing folder as well as heat embossing, a bit of lace and seam binding, pretty designer paper, a die cut oval and a few pearls!

My mother loved spring when the irises would start to bloom- lilacs and irises were her favorite!  Purple is one of my favorite colors so I decided to create this card in honor of her.

 To create this card:

Using the Brickwork 3D embossing folder, emboss a piece of white cardstock, die cut an oval in the upper right area, tear off the bottom edge and set aside.

De-static a piece of the purple woodgrain patterned paper from the Beach Hut 6x6 paper pad (approx. 4 ¼” x 5 ¼”), ink the “Wishing You A” sentiment from Happy Day Iris with Versafine Onyx Black ink (positioning it to fit within the oval die cut), apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the brickwork embossed layer to fit over the sentiment and mount onto the Beach Hut paper (do not adhere on the lower left hand side of the oval to allow room for the banner sentiment in the next step), trim and onto lilac cardstock.

De-static a piece of black cardstock, ink the “Mother’s Day” sentiment from Happy Day Iris with Versamark ink and stamp onto the prepared panel.

Apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the sentiment with the Fishtail Sentiment Banners die, insert into the oval die cut and add dimensional foam under the banner.

Layer the lace near the bottom of the card front, add the lilac seam binding, wrapping the ends behind the panel.

Create a bow from the lilac seam binding, adhere the panel to a white card base.

Ink the iris image from Happy Day Iris with Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamp onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the image with the coordinating die, color with water-based markers and adhere with dimensional foam to the card front.

Add a strip of the purple designer paper to the left hand side of the inside panel of the card base and finish off the card with a few pearls in the upper left hand corner of the card front.
