Peace On Earth- A Cardinal Christmas :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

This is the second Christmas card that I created this past weekend using the Our Daily Bread Designs ODBDSCL226 Sketch Challenge along with the CQC279 ColourQ Challenge and the WT518 Music Moves Me Challenge atSplitcoaststampers.

Again, if you have not already had a chance to visit the above sites, I encourage you to do so- wonderful samples from the Design Teams as well as their galleries!

To create this card:

Ink the Cardinal Image using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of
Very Vanilla cardstock.

Color the image using an AquaPainter™ with Real Red Classic Ink and add additional detail using a Real Red and Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.

Add shadows with the retired Black Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencil and carefully “fussy-cut” around the image (or if you have the matching die, die cut the image – after fussy-cutting this image, the die is on my wish list for sure) :-)

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of retired Modern Medley Designer Series Paper (DSP)- lightly sand with a sanding block.

Using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink the Joy to the World background and stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Trim the background stamped panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Adhere the embossed/sanded DSP layer from the step above below the musical background and add a piece of 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon to hide the seam.

Mount a piece of Modern Medley DSP to a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and adhere to the Very Vanilla card base.

Add the Joy to the World panel and mount the “fussy-cut” cardinal to the panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and use the Note Punch to punch out the ends.  Mount onto another piece of Basic Black cardstock (also punched with the Note Punch).

Add the Pearls to the corner to finish off the card.

Peace On Earth- A Poinsettia Christmas for Two Challenges

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create a few more Christmas cards for my stash this weekend and for the first card decided to use the Our Daily Bread Designs ODBDSCL226 Sketch Challenge along with the CMCC58 Colour Me! Challenge.

If you have not already visited the above sites, I hope you will take the time to stop by- so many great ideas and inspiration!

To create this card:

Ink the Poinsettia Image using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Color the image using an AquaPainter™ with Pink Pirouette and Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink.  Add additional dimension and details using Stampin’ Write Markers- Crumb Cake for the leaves, Pink Pirouette and Cherry Cobbler for the petals.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Poinsettia Die set to cut out the image.

Ink the Serve the Lord floral image using Early Espresso Classic Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.  Use the Big Shot™ with the ODBD Crochet Circle Die to cut out the image and use a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake Classic Ink to “antique” the paper.

Trim a panel of Whisper White cardstock to approx. 2 ¾” wide x 4” long- adhere a piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock to the lower part of the panel and mount onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

Adhere the ODBD Beautiful Border die cut with a strip of Pink Pirouette to cover the top cut edge of the die and mount the Poinsettia focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Pink Pirouette Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Trim the panel and mount onto the Pink Pirouette card base.

Use the Big Shot™ with the ODBD Vintage Flourish Pattern Die to cut the outer frame from Cherry Cobbler cardstock and mount the frame to the card front.

Ink the sentiment from the retired Holly Tag set using Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.  Cut out using the Large Oval Punch and mount onto two ovals from Pink Pirouette and two ovals from Cherry Cobbler (overlap the ovals behind the sentiment to allow just a part of the punch to show).

Mount the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the Pearls to the sentiment and the center of the Poinsettia to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Blessed Christmas, Holly Tag, Serve the Lord (all ODBD)

Blackberry Bliss Christmas- An Experiment with Ink on the Gelli Arts Printing Plate :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I have been having a great week organizing my craft area and decided to take a moment to create a few cards.   I love my new Gelli Arts Printing Plate and wanted to experiment with Stampin; Up! Classic Ink versus acrylic paint.

I decided to try a quick technique using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink for the Colour Me CMCC27 Challenge and create a Christmas card for my commitment to the CCC14 Splitcoaststampers Christmas Card Challenge.

I hope that you have a chance to visit both sites to check out all of the variety of designs and ideas!

To create the basic background:

Create a mask using scrap paper over the Gelli Arts® Printing Plate to create a horizon line and using a brayer, apply a thin layer of Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink over the sky area.

Ink the tree stamps from Lovely As A Tree using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink and stamp directly onto the Gelli Arts® Printing Plate.

Remove the mask and lay a piece of Whisper White cardstock over the printing plate, rub and lift off to reveal the print.  Lay another piece over the plate and lift off again for the “ghost” print.

The two cards in this post are created with the ghost print (the first prints were a bit too dark in the sky area).

To create the card focal images:

Ink the pine tree image from Lovely As A Tree using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink and using a piece of scrap paper to create a mask, mask the area and stamp the tree over the landscape.

Use a Sponge Dauber with Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink along with the masks to create the snow banks.

Use the Color Spritzer Tool with the Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write marker to add a bit of distressing.

To create the first card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the Window Frames Collection Framelits™ to cut the image out and also cut a frame from Blackberry Bliss cardstock.  Cut the Blackberry Bliss frame in half and adhere behind the focal image.

For the first card, use the Big Shot™ with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamp the sentiment using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink in the lower right hand corner.

Trim and mount onto a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock, trim again and mount onto Whisper White cardstock , trim and mount onto the Blackberry Bliss card base.

Mount the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

For the second card:

Repeat the same steps to frame the image.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock and a piece of Crumb Cake Designer Series Paper (DSP) using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Trim the embossed piece of Whisper White cardstock and mount onto the Blackberry card base.  Add the strip of embossed Crumb Cake DSP and add the Blackberry Bliss die cut strips (cut with the Big Shot™ and the ODBD Beautiful Borders Die.

Stamp the sentiment using Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punch out using the XL Oval Punch.  Layer onto two additional XL Ovals punched from Blackberry Bliss cardstock to create the frame for the sentiment.

Add the focal image and sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the Pearls to the sentiment and top corner of the focal image to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Lovely As A Tree, Holly Tag (ODBD)

Ink: Blackberry Bliss

Paper: Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Northern Flurry and Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plate, Brayer, XL Oval Punch, Pearls

I will need to work on perfecting this technique :-)  It does create a quick print and is a bit easiier than sponging and masking the entire scene (since the Gelli Arts® Gel Printing Plate allows for multiple prints off one inking)  :-)

Thanks again for stopping by- have a great Monday!!
