TCC115 Trust in the Lord Medallon

Hi Friends!

In creating my Design Team card for The Card Concept #115 {Mosaic Madness} Challenge  I ended up designing three cards based on the inspiration photo.

This is the third design (the last two posts were card #1 & #2) and I was inspired by the medallions as well as the colors for this simple Classy and Elegant card.

I decided to use the medallion image from a retired Stampin’ Up! stamp set- Boho Backgrounds along with verse sentiment from the retired Scripture Medley 5 set(Verve Stamps).

As I mentioned before, I am trying to give my stamps that I already own some “love”- I have not inked the Boho Backgrounds image in approx. ten years (plus I have rarely used the Whimsy doily die at all) :-)

I will also be linking this card to the Simon Says Wednesday “Stitches” Challenge  (faux stitching on my card)  along with the Word Art Wednesday #386-#387 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- terrific inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Score and fold a piece of 4.25” x 11” heavy white cardstock in half.  Using rectangle stitched dies, cut the largest rectangle from espresso cardstock, cut the next size from turquoise cardstock and cut the next smallest size from white cardstock.

2).  De-static the lower portion of the white cardstock panel with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment using Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, layer the three panels together and mount onto the white card base.

3). Die cut the round doily from espresso cardstock.  Due cut a stitched circle from designer paper and mount onto the center of the round doily.   Adhere the entire doily to the card front using dimensional foam.

4).  Using water-based markers, color the Boho Backgrounds medallion image and stamp onto white cardstock.  Cut out with a circle die, press the entire circle onto a Versamark™ ink pad, apply clear embossing powder over the entire image and heat set with a heat tool.  Repeat the process a few times to create a clear coat over the colored image.  Die cut another circle (just a bit larger than the image) from espresso cardstock and mount the embossed medallion image onto the espresso circle.

5).  Die cut two of the flourish shapes from turquoise cardstock, add to the back of the layered circle and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

6).  Add a few rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Boho Backgrounds (retired Stampin’ Up!), Scripture Medley 5 (retired Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Versamark™,  Stampin’ Write Markers- Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Tempting Turquoise; retired Sweater Weather designer series paper

Tools/Accessories: Big Shot™,  Doodled Doily Die (Whimsy Stamps), My Favorite Things™ Dies- Stitched Rectangle A2 Set 1 & 2, Stitched Circle; Spellbinders™ Flourish Dies, Sizzix™ Circle Dies, Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to visit!  I hope I have inspired you to create your own card based on our {Mosaic Madness} photo and link up to our gallery at The Card Concept- we would love to see your interpretation!! The challenge is open until Monday, May 27th at noon (EDT).
