TCC#156 Strong Anchor

Hi Friends!

Welcome to The Card Concept #156 {Anchors Aweigh} Challenge!

For those of you who are not familiar with The Card Concept Challenge, we are a bi-weekly challenge that uses an inspiration photo for you to create a card.

You can choose one card-making style and/or a combination of styles, the choice is yours!  Plus, our Design Team of ten ladies create a card to inspire you.

I was inspired by the nautical elements as well as the red, white, and blue colors to create a simple Mixed Media card.

As many of you know, I enjoy participating with challenges and will be linking to the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #159 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

One of the requirements for the Retro Rubber Challenge is to use a
stamp that is at least a year old.  The sentiment verse that I used from the Strong Anchor stamp set (retired Verve Stamps) is several years old and I even pulled out older retired Stampin’ Up! designer paper for this vintage styled card.

If you have not had a chance to visit The Card Concept, or the Retro Rubber Blog Challenge site yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Trim the piece of retired Nautical designer paper to approx. 3.75” x 5”.

De-static the lower right-hand corner of the designer paper with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, die-cut the sentiment with a pieced square die, mount onto navy cardstock, trim, and mount onto white cardstock.

Mount the remaining designer paper panel onto navy cardstock, trim, and add a strip of 1 ½” burlap ribbon.

Layer a piece of 5/8” navy satin ribbon over the center of the burlap, wrap the edges behind the panel.

Knot three strands of natural hemp twine together with three knots and adhere to the satin ribbon layer.

Mount the layered the panel onto a white card base.

Adhere the layered sentiment with chipboard (or dimensional foam), lining up the pattern to the background paper.

Finish off the card with a few rhinestones.

Stamp Sets: Strong Anchor (retired Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Night of Navy, retired Nautical Designer Series Paper (all Stampin’ Up!)

Tools/Accessories: Gemini, Jr., Pierced Squares Dies (Divinity Designs, LLC), Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy™, Clear Embossing Powder, Burlap Ribbon, 5/8” Navy Ribbon, Natural Hemp Twine, Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by!  We hope you will have the time to create a card based on our inspiration photo and join us at The Card Concept! The challenge is open until June 7th at noon EDT.
