Thinking of You- A Mixed Media Botanical Study

Hi Again Stampers!!

I created this card for my hubby-he and I both love to watch birds and even after 32 years,  I am always "Thinking of Him" :-)

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit the above sites- such wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the bird, eggs, plate number and bees from the retired set, Nature Walk and the sentiment from the retired hostess set, Kind and Caring Thoughts using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the images using Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink and add additional color to the eggs using Soft Sky Classic Ink.

Use an AquaPainter™ along with Frost White Shimmer Paint to paint the wings on the bees and  “fussy-cut” all of the images.

Use a Sponge Dauber with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink to add the honeycomb stenciling to the retired Botanical Tea Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Soft Sky cardstock (ink the interior of the folder with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink before embossing) and adhere to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock (I used strips from my stash).

Distress the edges of the Botanical Tea DSP panel along with the Tim Holtz® Wallflower paper using the Distressing Tool and add additional Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink using the Gorgeous Grunge large splatter stamp to the sentiment and Wallpaper panel.

Use a sewing machine to add the Tim Holtz® Wallflower panel to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock and the Botanical Tea DSP panel to a piece of Soft Sky cardstock. Add additional Ranger® Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges.

Mount the honeycomb panel onto the Early Espresso card base.  Add the stitched Wallflower panel on an angle and adhere the eggs, plate number, sentiment and bird using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the bees directly to the card front using regular adhesive.

Apply Plaid® Gloss Mod Podge® using a foam brush to the eggs, bird and plate number to finish off the card.

Hope- Another Experiment with Mixed Media

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to try another mixed media card and decided to use Splitcoaststampers  MIX83 Naturally Elements MIX-Ability Challenge (Element- Fire) along with the SplitcoaststampersSC457 Sketch .

Supposedly there is no right or wrong with mixed media journaling- not sure about cardmaking, so I used the sentiment "hope" for that reason and our kitties are having dental surgery (annual cleaning) and we are hoping that all will be well :-)

This tehnique also allowed me to use a bit of my massive "stash" of embellishments, etc. so I had a great time creating this project.  If you have not tried mixed media, I hope you will give it a try as well!!

Again, I hope that you will find the time to visit the galleries and see all of the different designs and inspiration!

To create this card:

Stamp the heart image using Staz-On® Jet Black Ink onto a piece of Royal Langnickel Essentials™ Acrylic Paper and color the entire card panel including the heart using Gelatos® (I used Red Cherry, Bubble Gum, Tangerine with a little bit of Lemon).   Use a paint brush to add water and mix the colors.

Allow to the panel to dry, add highlights to the heart with a white Watercolor Pencil, mask the heart and stamp the splatter stamps from Gorgeous Grunge with Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink.  Lightly sand the background area around the heart to add additional distressing.

Cut the heart out and cut the remaining panel into strips.  Adhere the strips onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and with a foam brush, apply Mod-Podge® to the panel of strips as well as the cut—out heart image.

Once the panel is dry, stamp the floral stamp using Stone Gray Staz-On® Ink over the strips and add the 5/8” Basic Black Triple Satin Ribbon bow.

Adhere the heart shape using Stampin’ Dimensionals® as well as the die cut cat and layered sentiment (stamped onto Whisper White cardstock creating the banner points with the Hexagon Punch, distress with the Distressing Tool, Add the heart clip and key charm and mount onto Basic Black cardstock).

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges of a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and adhere to the Basic Black card base using a Sewing Machine.  Use a foam brush to apply Mod-Podge® to the DSP panel.

Once the background panel is dry, mount the focal image panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the Black Octagon shaped Rhinestones to the corners and sentiment.

Add a few Rhinestones to the heart shape to finish off the card.
