ODBDSLC261 You Will Find Refuge

Hello Friends!

I just love these colors and was able to various shades of the colors for this card celebrating nature with the You Will Find Refuge stamp set with the verse from Psalm 108:1 “I will sing and make music with all of my soul”.

My husband and I love to watch birds and the black capped chickadee is one of our favorite birds that are regulars at our feeders every day.  They are very inquisitive and brave for such a small bird not to mention handsome in their black, white and gray feathers- just so cute!

To create this card:

Cut a piece of the Christmas Collection 2015 6x6 Paper  using the frame from the Vintage Flourish Patterns Dies and position over a piece of Hunter Green cardstock using a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine to attach the die cut.

ODBD Stamp Sets: You Will Find RefugeHoneycomb Mini;
ODBD Dies:Vintage Flourish Pattern Dies, Vintage Labels Dies, Pennant Dies,
ODBD Paper: Christmas 2015 6x6 Paper Collection
Add the 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon strip and mount the panel onto a  piece of Soft Suede cardstock.

Stamp the chickadee image from You Will Find Refuge using Stāz-On® Jet Black onto White cardstock, color using Stampin’ Write Markers- Basic Black, Basic Gray, Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand for the shadows.

Use the Honeycomb Mini stamp with Ranger® Tim Holtz® Old Paper Distress Ink to fill in part of the background and cut the image out with the Vintage Labels Dies (also cutting two additional dies the same size- one each from Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso cardstock.

Split the Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso Vintage Labels Die cuts in half and layer behind the focal image die cut.

Add the focal image to the card front panel using dimensional foam.
Ink the verse from You Will Find Refuge using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, add a bit of the Honeycomb Mini stamped with the Old Paper Distress Ink (as above), cut out with the Pennants Dies (also cutting the same size pennant from Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso cardstock and layer the Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso Pennant Dies behind the verse sentiment.

Add the sentiment to the card front and adhere the 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon bow.

Mount the entire panel onto the Whisper White card base and finish off the card with a few Pearls.

I cannot express how thrilled I am to be designing alongside the talented ODBD Design Team and hope you will check out all of my DT sisters:

ODBDSLC258 Thank You for Your Service

Hello Friends!

I love how versatile this sketch is and I decided to create a card in honor of Veteran’s Day.

I am so thankful for the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces- we are truly the “Home of the Free Because of the Brave” and the Not Forgotten set along with the Home of the Free set are perfect for honoring those who have served.  May we never forget their service and sacrifice to our country!!

To create this card, ink the Not Forgotten image using a waterproof black ink, stamp onto a piece of White cardstock and watercolor with Navy and Burgundy markers.

ODBD Stamps- Not Forgotten, Home of the Free, Patriotic Pennants
ODBD Dies- Pennants, Pennant Row, Ovals, Stitched Ovals,
Paper: Patriotic Collection 6x6
Cut the image out with the Stitched Ovals Die and mat onto the Ovals Die.

Ink the Patriotic Pennants swag image using the Navy and Burgundy markers, stamp onto a  piece of White cardstock and cut the image out with the coordinating Pennant Row Die.

Ink the star pennant from Patriotic Pennants, stamp onto a piece of White cardstock and cut out with the coordinating die from Pennant Dies.

Ink the sentiment from Home of the Free and Patriotic Pennants using the Navy and Burgundy markers, stamp each onto White cardstock, trim each and mount onto Navy cardstock.

Layer a piece of White cardstock onto a piece of Navy cardstock and stitch the Patriotic Collection 6x6  paper onto the White cardstock layer.
Emboss the entire panel with the star embossing folder and lightly sand the background paper.

“Antique” all of the images using a sponge dauber with an antiquing ink.

Add the burgundy ribbon with the metal ribbon slide to the stamped star banner and assemble the card (per the sketch) using foam dimensionals.

I am so thrilled to be designing alongside the talented ODBD Design Team and hope you will check out all of my DT sisters:

ODBDSLC253 Deep Waters- Isaiah 43:2 I Will Be With You

Hello Friends!

Woohoo!!  I am so excited to be a Guest Designer for Our Daily Bread Designs for the month of September!  I just love the ODBD stamp sets, coordinating dies and paper collections and am looking forward to sharing with you this month!

Today starts the new Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light ODBDSLC253 Color Challenge and this card highlights the brand new stamp set, Deep Waters from the brand new September 2015 Release- this stamp set offers a wonderful collection of verses, sentiments as well as a fantastic undersea scene! The entire new release has so many fabulous sets for card making, scrapbooking as well as Bible Art Journaling focusing on God's creation :-)

I am looking forward to designing alongside the talented ODBD Design Team and hope you will check out my DT Sisters:

Many of you know that this past year has been a challenge for us as my husband was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia (“WM” for short).  Early this year, he went through several months of chemo every three weeks and is now in the maintenance stage of chemo (all while working many extra OT hours on his salary position at work).  He has had a few negative side effects, but through it all, we know that the Lord is with us and this verse from Isaiah 43:2 in the new stamp set, Deep Waters  “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you!” has meant so much to us this year!

I also incorporated the sketch from the previous Shining the Light ODBDSLC250 Sketch Challenge along with several ODBD die sets- Ovals Die, Pennant Dies and Boho Background Dies with the color challenge for this week (I did not have a chance to play along with the previous sketch challenge :-) ).

The Deep Waters underwater sea image was stamped with a waterproof ink onto white cardstock and colored using water based markers with a water brush.  Details to finish off the scene include using sparkle shimmer paint for the sand, frost shimmer paint for the shells as well as a white gel pen for some highlights (it is a bit difficult to see the shimmer in the photo).

In addition to the encouragement that cards created with this new set can bring to the recipient, I also think the Deep Waters stamp set gives you so many options for both masculine as well as feminine cards!  I know that I am always in need of “guy” cards- how about you?
