Get Well Wishes for a Great Friend

Hi Stampers!

Another week and time for another ColourQ Challenge!  As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the many of the projects from the Design Team this week's CQC157 ColourQ Challenge  reflect how our thoughts turn to those who have been impacted by this disease.  Since this card is a quilt card with a lot of texture, I decided to submit this card to the Stampin’ Up! Only SUO55 TextureChallenge as well (again, both sites have wonderful inspiration :-)).

Once I created my “quilt”- the original quilt was a bit over 5” x 5” , I cut it apart and will be able to make four cards from one quilt- a “one sheet wonder” quilt, so to speak :-)

To create this card:

Punch out 4 squares using the 1 ¼” Square Punch from Basic Grey DSP (I used paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Pack), 4 squares of Basic Black DSP (I used retired Night and Day DSP) and 8 squares of Whisper White cardstock.    Fold the squares in half and cut along the fold to create your triangles.

Using graph paper (I used our SU! Grid Paper), apply 2-Way Glue and lay down the quilt squares.   I just used a modified windmill pattern – pretty quick and easy once the pieces are cut and ready to go :-)

After the pieces are adhered to the backing sheet, I cut the sheet in half to fit into the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Emboss the panel and cut the panel again in half.

Layer the quilt pattern onto Pink Pirouette and again onto Basic Black and Whisper White to finish the focal panel.

Adhere the entire panel onto an embossed piece of Basic Grey DSP (again embossed with the Lacy Brocade EF and lightly sanded).  Add the circle with the Rhinestone in the center.

Stamp the butterflies using Melon Mambo Classic Ink onto Pink Pirouette DSP and punch out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Add Rhinestones to the butterflies and adhere randomly to the card front.  Adhere the Black Organdy Ribbon bow with the Filigree Brad center (both items are retired) along with the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Papillon Potpourri, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Basic Black, Melon Mambo

Paper: Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Designer Series Pack- Basic Grey (Neutrals) and Pink Pirouette (Subtles), Night and Day DSP (retired)

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder , Sanding Block, Punches-  1 ¼” Square, 1 ¼” Circle, 1 3/8” Circle, Elegant Butterfly, Word Window and Modern Label; Rhinestones, Black Organdy Ribbon (retired), Filigree Brad (retired)

I have a great friend who just had unexpected gall bladder surgery last week and she loves pink, so this card will be mailed to her to let her know how that I have been praying for her full recovery :-)

Thanks for visiting and if you stop back again in a few days, I will be sharing another quilt card with you:-)   Have a great week!
