Gell Well Soon- Tic Tac Toe :-)

Hi Stampers!

Happy day after the 4th of July!!  I hope all my friends in the US had a great time celebrating our country’s birthday yesterday- we were able to celebrate with friends and had a great time!!   I also apologize for the delay on this part of the post- I have been having a few issues with my internet connection and was unable to post prior to now:-)

I truly love patriotic colors and images and had created this card for our SUO73 Patriotic Challenge a few weeks ago and did not take the time to create another one for today (I must admit I normally do not mail cards for the 4th of July).

In case you had not seen this post originally, I wanted to share what fun it was to create this "flag" with our Sunflower stamp!!

In reflection of today though, may we never forget the wisdom and bravery of our forefathers, the courage and commitment of our military and service men and women and that freedom is never truly free!!  May their sacrifices remind us daily to pray for our country and military and may God continue to Bless America!!

This evening (or actually early morning) I wanted to create a card to participate in LeAnne’s PP159 Tic Tac Toe Challenge at the Paper Players (I just love their challenges and the Tic Tac Toe is so fun!).  Also, I decided to use the CCMC259 Create with Connie and Mary Sketch and enter this card into the ABC35 'Anything Goes' Challenge at ABCChallenges (a new challenge site for me).

If you have had the chance to do so, I hope you can take the time to visit each challenge site to check out the Design Team projects as well as the other entries!

To create this card:

Using Basic Gray Classic Ink, stamp the bird image onto Whisper White cardstock and color with an AquaPainter™ (using ink from the Basic Gray and Gumball Green Classic Ink pads).  Once dry, touch up a bit with Stampin’ Write markers in the same colors and use the retired Color Spritzer Tool along with the Basic Gray marker to apply a bit of distressing.

Cut out the bird image using the Big Shot™ along with the Chalk Talk Framelits™ (I pre-cut the tail feathers and folded them up prior to cutting with the Framelit™ so they could protrude from the image).  Also from Basic Gray cardstock, cut another Framelit™ using the same die and by hand, cut this piece in half horizontally.

Use a Sponge Dauber with Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink to lightly sponge the edges of the bird image and adhere the split Basic Gray "frame" behind the focal image.

Emboss a piece of Epic Day Designer Series Paper (love this paper!) using the Big Shot™ with the Argyle Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and lightly sand with the Sanding Block and sponge a bit of Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink over the white core.

Again, with the Big Shot™ cut two pieces of Whisper White cardstock using the Large Scallop Framelit™- emboss with the Delicate Designs (Lace) Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and use the Sponge Dauber with Baked Brown Sugar Classic Ink to lightly sponge ink over the embossing (to tone down the white cardstock).

Emboss a piece of Soho Subway DSP with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (this was actually a previous embossed scrap piece that I had intended to use with the other side of the DSP- love how our mistakes work out!).  Cut along the honeycomb edge to showcase a few of the hexagons.

Adhere the Argyle embossed piece of DSP to the lower portion of a Whisper White card base (cut a bit smaller than the A2 size) and add the non-embossed piece Epic Day DSP to the top portion. Adhere the Paper Tea Lace Doily (cut in half and sponged with Baked Brown Sugar) and layer the the Honeycomb/Lace border over the cut edge of the doily.

Add the Canadian Goose image with Stampin’ Dimensionals, adhere the 3/8” Gumball Green Satin Stitched Ribbon triple bow  and add the Pearls to the corners to finish off the card.

So they you are- Tic Tac Toe!  Bird, Get Well and Embossing- thanks Paper Players and  LeAnne for the inspiration!!

Fabulous card - so many lovely elements to it. I particularly loved your attention to detail in cutting the goose's tail to overhang the tag.
