Floral Greetings- Sending Prayers

Hi Friends!

I apologize for not posting any cards in over a month (although this was my first real "break" since I started my blog in August 2010 :-)).  I have been creating and will be sharing several cards in the next week or so.

We have been so busy this past late spring/summer with doctors appointments, hubby's bladder cancer treatments and re-organization of my craft room!

I wanted to share that we received some great news recently and are praising the Lord!  He answered our prayers and my hubby, Dave's bladder cancer biopsy showed that, at this present time, there are no remaining cancer cells!

Dave will have to receive another cysto procedure in a few months to make sure that the bladder cancer chemo treatments remain successful, but for now, he is not undergoing any chemo or other treatments- yea!!  Also, we will know more about his WM status (non-Hodgkins lymphoma) in September.

In between all of the craziness, as I mentioned, I have been doing a massive re-organization of my craft room.  It still needs a lot of work- for me, this is a never ending process!  I had fun exploring and finding some "unloved" items- Dave mentioned that it must be like Christmas, finding things that I had forgotten about- lol!  He was right :-)
This card was designed using the Floral Greetings stamp set from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps and a few of those “found” items from my re-organization project :-)

I also used the Splitcoaststampers SC686 Sketch Challenge and the SCS CC676 Color Challenge (opt. dessert- scallops, included with the lace :-)) and will be participating in the Dragonfly Journeys #124 Flower Power Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #346-#347“Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the large floral image twice from Floral Greetings with archival black ink onto the panel, apply clear embossing and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the flowers and leaves (see the colors used below) using water-based markers and fussy-cut.

2). Die cut a piece of white cardstock with a stitched oval die and a piece of designer paper (not sure of the manufacturer) with a stitched rectangle die.

3). Add a piece of white crochet lace horizontally to the die cut designer paper.  Add a piece of retired 5/8” Rich Razzleberry Satin Ribbon over the top edge of the lace and two pieces of ¼” Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon for the vertical panels of the sketch.

4). Mount the layered ribbon/lace panel to the white card base.  Add the oval die cut with dimensional foam and layer the flowers over the die cut.

5). De-static a piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Floral Greetings with Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Trim the panel and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

6). To finish off the card, add  a few pearls to the corners and use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the flowers.

SC683 God Is My Salvation

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the weekly sketch at Splitcoaststampers! Cathy is our #SC683 sketch designer this week and she has designed a wonderful sketch that can be interpreted in so many ways!

I decided to create a Clean and Layered Mixed Media card using Floral Greetings and Our Refuge at Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps. I love the beautiful floral designs in the Floral Greetings stamp set (designed by Graciellie Designs) and the fonts on the verses in Our Refuge are gorgeous!

I love using stitched dies on my cards to add "faux" stitching but occasionally actually stitch on my cards as well (with a dedicated sewing machine).  What is your favorite way?

If you have not had a chance to visit the Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch gallery or other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static two pieces of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool. On one panel, stamp the floral spray image twice from Floral Greetings with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and stamp the verse from Our Refuge onto the other.

2). Once the embossing has cooled, die cut the verse with a stitched banner die.  Die cut another banner with the same die using black cardstock, split the black banner in half and layer behind the verse.

3). Using water-based markers, watercolor the floral images and fussy cut (cutting away some of the foliage).

4). Using a stencil brush and tumbled glass distress ink, apply ink with the Heartwood stencil.  Trim the panel, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and adhere the entire panel onto the white card base.

5). Mount the layered verse onto the card front and the flowers with dimensional foam.

6). Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the flower petals and use an extra white paint pen to add highlights to the flower centers.

7). Add pearls to finish off the card.

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black; Stampin’ Write Markers- Wisteria Wonder, Wild Wasabi; Tim Holtz® Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, Spectrum Noir™ Glitter Pen, Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories/Tools: Big Shot™, MFT Jumbo Stitched Fishtail Banner STAX Dies, Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Memory Box Heartwood Stencil, AquaPainter™, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit! If you have a chance, we would love for you to join us at Splitcoaststampers for this week’s sketch challenge!  Hugs and I hope all of you have a great week, sweet friends!

A Very Present Help in Trouble

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are enjoying the first week of 2018!  A friend of ours went to be with the Lord on Christmas morning- she was 95 years young and a wonderful, godly woman.

She will be truly missed but we know that she is in the arms of our Savior and we will see her again one day :-)

I decided to pull out the Floral Greetings and Peaceful Peonies clear stamp sets (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) and used the Less Is More #360/#361 Sketch Challenge for the layout (I put the sentiment in the center by mistake - went from memory, oops!) along with the Happy Little Stampers January Watercolour Challenge  and Simon Says Wednesday "Anything Goes" Challenge for the design on this sympathy card for her family.

If you have not had a chance to check out the above challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- gorgeous inspiration from their Design Teams as well as their galleries!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment from Peaceful Peonies with Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, trim close to the edge.

2). Die cut a piece  of white cardstock with the MFT A2 Stitched Rectangle Die Set #1, de-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, ink the floral image from Floral Greetings with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, stamp onto the prepared panel in the upper and lower corner, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

3). Once the embossing has cooled, water color with Zig Real Clean Color markers, Tim Holtz™ Distress Markers and Distress Ink (see colors below in the card recipe).  Stencil the background using a Clarity™ Stencil Brush with the Memory Box™ Modern Chic Chevron Stencil.

4). Mount the panel onto a white card base with dimensional foam.  Add shimmer to the flower petals/background with a clear glitter pen and white highlights with a Sharpie® Extra Fine WhitePaint Pen.

5). Add the embossed sentiment with dimensional foam and a few sequins to finish off the card.

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™, Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Distress Ink- Salty Ocean, Fossilized Amber; TH Distress Markers- Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Ground Espresso, Mowed Lawn; Zig® Clean Real Color Markers- Pink, Green; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen

His Wings- Sending Prayers Your Way

Hi Friends!

Wow! This week has been a hectic one but I finally had a chance to relax and create a card using the Creative Worship stamp set, His Wings (designed by Korin Sutherland) along with Floral Greetings (designed by Graciellie Design) both available from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). On a piece of white cardstock, scribble yellow, green and blue color with a Zig® Clean Color Brush Marker, spritz with water and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the panel has  thoroughly dried, de-static with an embossing powder tool, stamp the feathers from the His Wings stamp set with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Add a bit more color as needed (I also added additional blue with a Stampin’ Write Pacific Point Marker).

2). Once the embossing has cooled, fussy- cut the feathers (cutting into the design a bit) and set aside.

3). De-static a scrap piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the bird image from His Wings with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, heat emboss with clear embossing powder and once cooled, fussy-cut the image.

4). On a piece of Strathmore® Bristol Smooth paper, apply the same three colors using the Zig® Clean Color Brush Markers, spritz with water and heat set with a heat tool.  Drop additional water onto the panel, press a paper towel to soak up the water and some of the ink, heat with the heat tool to dry.

5). Once you are satisfied with the background, de-static the panel near the bottom with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Floral Greetings usingVersafine™ Onyx Black ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Trim the panel, mount onto black cardstock, trim again and mount onto the white card base.

6). Add the feathers directly to the card front and mount the bird with dimensional foam.

7). Finish off the card with Nuvo™ Jewel Crystal Drops and use an Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen to add a few dots to the top feather.

Stamp Sets:  His Wings, Floral Greetings (Sweet‘n Sassy Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Pacific Point Marker, Zig® Clean Color Real Brush Markers- Yellow, Light Green, Cobalt Blue; Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen; Nuvo® Jewel Drops- Sea Breeze, Limoncello, Key Lime

Sending Prayers Your Way

Hi Friends!!

I hope all of you are having a great week so far! Today I am sharing a quick card using a sentiment from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps, Floral Greetings (designed by Graciellie Designs) along with a Distress Oxide background and a retired SNSS Bare Tree Die.

We have several friends that need prayer on a regular basis so I thought I would create a card that would be gender neutral and I absolutely love using the new Distress Oxide Inks!! So much fun and each background looks different :-)

If you have not already had a chance to visit the above challenge sites, I hope you will do so- they both have wonderful Design Teams as well as inspiration in their galleries.

To create this card:

1). Using Distress Oxide Inks (I used Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Wilted Violet), press the ink pads onto a silicone craft mat, spritz with water and lay a piece of white cardstock into the ink.  Lift up and repeat until you are satisfied with the coverage, spritz the panel again with water and heat set with a heat tool. Cut the panel into strips, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

2). Ink the sentiment from Floral Greetings with Versafine™ Black Archival Ink and stamp onto one of the panels.

2). Mount the strips onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

3). Trim a piece of white cardstock and mount onto the black card front, adhere the entire panel onto the white card base.

4), Adhere the background strips with dimensional foam to the card front (per the sketch).

5). Die cut the tree die from black cardstock, mount onto the card front and add a few sequins to finish off the card.

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide Inks- Broken China, Cracked Pistachio and Wilted Violet
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black
Accessories: Big Shot™, retired Bare Tree Die (SNSS), Sequins

Psalm 46:1 -God is Our Refuge and Strength

Hi Friends!

I have another quick CAS Mixed Media card to share using the Floral Greetings (Graciellie Designs) and Peaceful Peonies Clear Stamp Sets (NinaB Designs)- both available from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

Again, if you have not had a chance to visit the challenge sites or SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the floral image from Floral Greetings Clear Stamp Set using embossing ink and stamp onto white cardstock.  Heat emboss the image with black embossing powder and once the embossing has cooled, use a water brush to watercolor the image with water-based markers (Watercolor Wonder, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Delightful Dijon).

2). Create a watercolor wash for the background with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and add a few splatters.

3). Trim the panel and mount onto the black card base.

4). Heat emboss the sentiment from the Peaceful Peonies Clear Stamp Set with white embossing powder onto black cardstock, once cooled, create the banner points by hand.

5). Mount the sentiment onto the card front with dimensional foam.

6). To finish off the card, use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the flower petals and a Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen to add highlights to the flower centers.
