Doves of Peace

Hi Friends!

Welcome to the December release at Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.  Today I am sharing a quick Mixed Media card using the new stamp set Doves of Peace along with the December Stamp of the Month, Wood Backgrounds (free with your net purchase of $75 (US) in December 2018).

I love participating in online challenges and used the Global Design Project #166Sketch Challenge for the layout and am also linking this card to the PapercraftCrew Challenge #316 “Favorite New Product” (love both of these sets) as well as the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the Doves of Peace  image with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Watercolor the image with water-based markers and fussy-cut around the edge.

2).  On another piece of white cardstock, image the small background image from  Wood Backgrounds with distress ink, stamp repeatedly to create the background and trim the panel.  De-static the lower right hand corner with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment “be with you” from Doves of Peace with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

3). Use a circle punch or die to create the design element in the upper right-hand corner, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of black cardstock.  Trim close to the edge of the background panel.

4). Trim another piece of white cardstock to approx.. 4” x 5 ¼”, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and trim close to the edge.  Mount the entire panel onto a white card base and adhere the panel created in step 2 & 3 to the card front using dimensional foam.

5). De-static a piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the word “Peace” from Doves of Peace using Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Trim the sentiment and mount onto the card front.

6). Add a bit of looped silver cord to the circle cut-out area and mount the fussy-cut Doves of Peace  image over the silver cord with dimensional foam.

7). Add a few silver sequins and use a clear glitter pen on the water in the globe image to finish off the card

SC673 Merry Christmas

Hi Friends!

It’s Wednesday and time again for the weekly sketch at Splitcoaststampers! Allison is our sketch artist this week for the SC673 Challenge and I thought this layout would be perfect for a Christmas card!

I decided to play along with the As You Like It “Favourite Christmas Colour andWhy?” Challenge (I love deep dark reds with green, white and silver at Christmas- a home style Christmas color combination that reminds me of my childhood) plus the Hand Stamped Sentiments  #278 Inspiration Challenge and the Global Design Project #115 “Christmas Joy” Theme  Challenge into the design.

If you have not had a chance to visit the SC673 Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch gallery or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

This card is primarily die-cutting and was very easy to create:

1). Using the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) Elegant Embellishments Dies, die cut a base ornament from Real Red cardstock and another from Whisper White cardstock.

2). With the ODBD Elegant Embellishments Dies intricate ornament dies, die cut one of each from Silver Foil and layer onto the base ornaments from Step #1.

3). Position the ODBD Pierced Circle Die on a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut.  Remove the circle from the panel and emboss the panel with a lace brocade embossing folder.  Mount onto a piece of Real Red cardstock, trim and mount onto the white card base.  Score a 1” strip of Real Red cardstock and add to the right hand side of the card (per the sketch).

4). Re-insert the die cut circle into the panel and adhere to the card front.

5). Using various green cardstock, die cut pieces of pine and other greenery with the ODBD Lovely Leaves Dies and mount to the center of the circle (per the sketch).

6). Add a bit of silver cord to each ornament.  Mount the white ornament directly to the card front (covering up the ends of the foliage) and mount the red ornament with dimensional foam.

7). With Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, stamp the sentiment from ODBD Mini Tag Sentiments stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock, trim and create the fish tail banner by hand.  Mount onto the card with dimensional foam.

8). To finish off the card, add a few Rhinestones to the centers of the ornaments and use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the foliage.

Stamp Sets: Mini Tag Sentiments (Our Daily Bread Designs)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Wild Wasabi; Silver Foil

Accessories/Tools: Big Shot™, ODBD Dies- Pierced Circles, Elegant Embellishments, Fancy Foilage; retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Scoring Tool, Silver Cord, Rhinestones

Refuge and Strength

Hi Friends!

This card was designed using the Creative Worship Clear Stamp Sets, Master of the Sea  (designed by Krista Hamrick) and Peaceful Peonies (designed by NinaB Designs) from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.  I love the images in both of these sets- perfect for cards, Bible Art Journaling, home décor as well as scrapbooking and other crafts.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the anchor image from Master of the Sea with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the image using ink from markers, adding shadows directly with the marker and fussy-cut around the edges.

2). Ink the sentiment from Peaceful Peonies with archival black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Create the fishtail banner by hand (or you can use the corner of a square or hexagon punch), layer onto a piece slate cardstock and again onto a piece of ocean blue cardstock.

3). Layer the patterned paper for the background onto slate and ocean blue cardstock.  Create the circle element and rectangle panel (per the sketch) from cardstock and patterned paper using stitched die cuts.  Mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

4). Add the knotted rope trim (I used hot glue to hold it in place) along with the anchor and sentiment using dimensional foam.

5). Finish off the card with grey mist jewel drops.

Stamp Sets:  Master of the Sea, Peaceful Peonies (Creative Worship from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Smoky Slate, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Nuvo™ Grey Mist Jewel Drops

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Pacific Point; retired High Tide Designer Series Paper

Accessories/Tools: Big Shot™, MFT Stitched Rectangle and Circle STAX Dies, Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Kraft Rope Trim

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a great week!

Sending Prayers Your Way

Hi Friends!!

I hope all of you are having a great week so far! Today I am sharing a quick card using a sentiment from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps, Floral Greetings (designed by Graciellie Designs) along with a Distress Oxide background and a retired SNSS Bare Tree Die.

We have several friends that need prayer on a regular basis so I thought I would create a card that would be gender neutral and I absolutely love using the new Distress Oxide Inks!! So much fun and each background looks different :-)

If you have not already had a chance to visit the above challenge sites, I hope you will do so- they both have wonderful Design Teams as well as inspiration in their galleries.

To create this card:

1). Using Distress Oxide Inks (I used Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Wilted Violet), press the ink pads onto a silicone craft mat, spritz with water and lay a piece of white cardstock into the ink.  Lift up and repeat until you are satisfied with the coverage, spritz the panel again with water and heat set with a heat tool. Cut the panel into strips, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

2). Ink the sentiment from Floral Greetings with Versafine™ Black Archival Ink and stamp onto one of the panels.

2). Mount the strips onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

3). Trim a piece of white cardstock and mount onto the black card front, adhere the entire panel onto the white card base.

4), Adhere the background strips with dimensional foam to the card front (per the sketch).

5). Die cut the tree die from black cardstock, mount onto the card front and add a few sequins to finish off the card.

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide Inks- Broken China, Cracked Pistachio and Wilted Violet
