Hey, Chick!

Hi Friends!

I am sharing another quick card this morning using the retired Hey, Chick stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

I have a personal goal to try to create a card for each of the over 800 sketches at Splitcoaststampers and this card uses the SC796 Sketch for the layout.

I hope you have had the chance to check out the above challenge sites,  wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the chicken images from Hey, Chick with a black archival ink (leaving plenty of space for the circle die cuts), apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the images with water-based markers and fussy cut the crazy haired chicken, set aside.

Die cut the two chicken images using a set of stitched circle dies and die cut another circle for mounting the crazy haired image.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock with a woodgrain embossing folder, trim and mount onto black cardstock, trim and mount onto a white card base.

De-static scrap pieces of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the sentiments from Hey, Chick using Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Adhere the circles onto the card front, the top circle directly, the second circle with one layer of dimensional foam (or chipboard) and the third circle with two layers of chipboard.

Add the sentiments with chipboard along with the fussy cut chicken.

Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the purple hair and the red combs to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Hey, Chick (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™ , Versafine™ Onyx Black; Stampin’ Write Markers- Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Highland Heather, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Tip Top Taupe; Clear Wink of Stella™

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr™, Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Stitched Shapes Dies, Circles Dies (retired SU), Embossing Buddy®, White and Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

SC678 Hey Chick

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the weekly sketch at Splitcoaststampers! Cathy designed our SC678 sketch this week and I decided to create another Clean and Layered card using the retired stamp set, Hey, Chick along with a bit of splatter with Timeless Textures (both Stampin' Up!).

I am also linking this card to the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge as well as a few other Splitcoaststampers challenges- F4A403 “Birthdays Are The Best” and Stamp To Save S2S18A (use a challenge that you were unable to participate in 2017 and I chose S2S17C (Fun/Funny).

If you have not had a chance to visit the Splitcoaststampers’ SC678 Sketch gallery or other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Die cut three circles from Whisper White cardstock using the Stitched Shapes Framelits™.  Die cut three circles from Basic Black cardstock using the retired Circle Framelits™.

2). Ink and stamp the chicken images from Hey, Chick using archival black ink, allow the ink to dry before coloring with Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils- Real Red, Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie. Use an AquaPainter™ to blend the pencil and add a bit of shimmer with a clear glitter pen.  Once the watercolor has dried, add white accents to the crazy chicken’s hair with an extra fine white paint pen.

3). Trim a piece of retired Sycamore Street Designer Paper for the upper and lower panel of the sketch.  Mount the panels on a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

4). Add a piece of 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon over the edges of the DSP, wrap the ends behind the panel.  Mount the entire panel onto the white card base.

5). Adhere the chicken die cut images using dimensional foam for the center image.

6). De-static a piece of Basic Black cardstock with an Embossing Buddy®, stamp the sentiments from Hey, Chick using Versamark™ ink, apply White Embossing Powder and heat set with a Heat Tool.

7). Trim the sentiments and create the flag banners by hand.  Mount the sentiments to the card front with dimensional foam.  Add a few sequins to finish off the card.

SUO164- Hey, Chick! Sneak Peek for SAB

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the SUO164  “Circles or Ovals or Squares, Oh My!” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!  I decided to take a break from Christmas cards and give you a sneak peek of a fun new Sale-A- Bration stamp set, Hey, Chick with a fun Mixed Media card :-)

Staring January 4, 2017  through March 31, 2017– for every $50 in purchases (not including sales tax or shipping), you can select one of the SAB items for free and Hey,Chick is so cute, I could not resist!! Those chickens look so frazzled, just like our lives are at times and I love the sweet sentiments as well :-)

I am also linking this card to the Simon Says Monday “Party Time” Challenge- if you have not had a chance to stop by the SU-Only Challenge site to check out the rest of the Design Team projects  or the Simon Says Challenge site, I hope you will do so- spectacular inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the Hey, Chick images with Stampin’ Archival Basic Black Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Die cut the images with Circle Framelits™ (also die cutting two circles for each image from black cardstock).

Color the stamped chicken images with the new Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils (yes, you read that correctly, the new Occasions Mini will have watercolor pencils in colors to match sixteen of the exclusive SU! Colors- yea!!) along with Stampin’ Write Markers.

Once you are satisfied with the coloring of the images, use Clear Wink of Stella to add shimmer to the chickens (I added it to their head areas :-)).  A chick has to have some shimmer, right?

Layer the die cut black circles behind the images and set aside.

Emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.

Adhere a strip of the Serene Scenery DSP Pack paper onto Basic Black cardstock and mount into the card front.

Heat emboss the sentiments from Hey, Chick with white embossing powder onto Basic Black cardstock creating the fish tail banners either by hand or using the retired Hexagon Punch (you can also use a square punch).

Mount the chick images and sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® (I did adhere the far left chick directly to the card front) and add a bit of Clear Wink of Stella® to the chickens to finish off the card,

Mount the chick images and sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals and add a bit of Clear Wink of Stella®
