Hi Friends!

I am sharing another quick card this morning using the retired Hey, Chick stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

I have a personal goal to try to create a card for each of the over 800 sketches at Splitcoaststampers and this card uses the SC796 Sketch for the layout.

I am also participating with the SUO Challenges #255 “Designers Choice” Challenge along with the Simon Says Monday “Happy Birthday!” Challenge.

I hope you have had the chance to check out the above challenge sites,  wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the chicken images from Hey, Chick with a black archival ink (leaving plenty of space for the circle die cuts), apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the images with water-based markers and fussy cut the crazy haired chicken, set aside.

Die cut the two chicken images using a set of stitched circle dies and die cut another circle for mounting the crazy haired image.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock with a woodgrain embossing folder, trim and mount onto black cardstock, trim and mount onto a white card base.

De-static scrap pieces of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the sentiments from Hey, Chick using Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Adhere the circles onto the card front, the top circle directly, the second circle with one layer of dimensional foam (or chipboard) and the third circle with two layers of chipboard.

Add the sentiments with chipboard along with the fussy cut chicken.

Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the purple hair and the red combs to finish off the card.

Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord

Hi Friends!

I pray that all of you are staying safe and well with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.  One benefit of being retired is that we stay home most days throughout the week unless we have an appointment, and of course, church activities primarily on Sunday. 

I am thankful that my husband and I have both accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, so we know the One Who holds the Future!  Therefore, we are being cautious but not fearful and I have peace knowing that "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain"  (Phil 1:21- one of my favorite verses).

As I hope all of you are doing, we are also taking precautions with being careful regarding hand shaking, and of course, washing our hands more frequently than normal!   

In the meantime, I am still trying to ink up some of my stamps that have not seen ink in a while as well as use some of my other supplies.   I have been stamping like crazy and am having fun, but unfortunately, I am not the quickest typist in the world and it seems to me that posting to my blog takes so much time, lol!  

I now have over fifty different cards photographed and ready to share, so I need to get busy posting!

So, in an effort to post the many cards that I need to post, I am going to try to simplify my normal “step by step” process.  

I originally started my blog ten years ago in an effort to help newcomers learn the techniques and steps needed to create a card, but I believe that most of you that visit my blog are now “experienced”.  If you have a question on any of the steps taken, please ask in the comments and I will give you more details.

Tonight I am sharing a card that I designed using the retired Stampin’ Up! sets, Countryside and Blessings from Heaven along with the SU! Warmth and Wonder designer series paper stack. 

I have not inked up either of these sets in a while and while I had them out, I stamped several of the truck images for future cards (I need to replenish my masculine card stash).

Many of you that follow my blog also know that I am also working my way through the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenges (in my personal effort to create a card for each of their 790+ sketches ) and used the SC106 Sketch for the layout.

In addition to the SCS Sketch, I am participating with the SUO Challenges #244 “Coloring” Challenge, the Cards 4 Guyz #240 “Something that starts with an “F”” Challenge (“F”= Farm Truck, Farm Apples sign) and the Simon Says Wednesday “Use Some Green” Challenge.

To create this card:

The images were stamped with an archival black ink and the truck was water colored with pencils and markers.  The plaid background panel was embossed with an embossing folder and a few rhinestones were added to finish off the card (see all items used below).

A Friend Loves At All Times

Hi Friends!!

Today I am sharing a card that was designed using two retired Stampin’ Up! sets, Trust God and Best of Sale-A-Bration along with some retired Designer Series Paper (DSP). 

Believe it or not, I am still working on organizing my craft room (it is a never-ending process, lol!) and wanted to give both of my older (and neglected) stamp sets some love :-)

I decided to incorporate the SUO Challenges #234 “Coloring” Challenge, the Simon Says Monday “All Things Pink” Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #408-#409 “AnythingGoes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to drop by the above challenge sites yet, I hope you do so- terrific inspiration from all!

Trim a piece of pink designer paper to 4" x 5 1/4" (I think this panel might be from Tea Party circa 2009).  I am not totally sure if is from Tea Party but I know it is definitely an older Stampin' Up! paper :-)  While organizing, I have been cutting some of my DSP into 4' X 6" panels for cardmaking and neglected to label this package, oops!.  Mount onto Basic Black cardstock, trim and adhere to the Whisper White card base.

Trim the piece of green designer paper (retired Festival of Prints) and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim close to the edge. Adhere this strip directly onto the card front.

Ink the floral image along with the sentiment using Versamark™ ink , stamp onto a prepared piece of Whisper White cardstock, apply black embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool. 

Use the retired Note Punch to punch out the sentiment, punch an additional tag using the Note Punch from Basic Black cardstock, trim the black punched tag in half and mount behind the embossed sentiment,  Adhere the layered sentiment directly onto the card front.

Color the cooled image with Stampin’ Write markers (using a water brush to blend the colors) and fussy cut the image. Mount onto Whisper White cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto Basic Black cardstock (again, trimming close to the edge).  Use Clear Wink of Stella to add shimmer to the petals and a white gel pen to add white highlights to the center of the flower.  Mount the layered image to the card front with dimensional foam.

Add a few pearls to the corners to finish off the card.

SUO190 The Light of Heaven

Hi Friends!   

It’s time for the #190 “A Favorite Holiday Image” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!

I decided to pull out the Star of Wonder stamp set with the coordinating Starlight dies and create a Clean and Simple Christmas card reflecting the true meaning of Christmas.  

I love the sentiments as well as the stars in the Star of Wonder stamp set! Christmas is all about the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and the star reminds us that Jesus is the Light of the World!  

Other than the dimensional star die cut, this is technically a one layer card that was very easy to create  and am also participating in the following challenges:

To create this card:

1). Using the Big Shot™ with the Starlight Thinlits™ and cut out the large scored star from Silver Foil and the smaller ornate star from Whisper White cardstock.  Lightly fold along the score lines of the large star to create dimension and mount the white die cut star to the center.

2). De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with an Embossing Buddy®, stamp the star and scroll images along with the sentiments from Star of Light with Versamark™ Ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

3). Trim the panel, mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock, trim and mount onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

4). Adhere the die cut/layered star with Stampin’ Dimensionals® to the card front (FYI- I layered several dimensionals together to give the star more height in the center).

5). Add a few Rhinestones to the star centers to finish off the card.

SUO189 Merry Christmas Quilt Card Set

Hi Friends!   

It’s time for the #189 “FavoriteHoliday Colors” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges! I love so many different holiday colors for Christmas- blue with silver, gold and white, pinks and purples but decided that this year I will be designing the bulk of my Christmas cards with the traditional green and red.     

For this challenge, I paired the Christmas Quilt Bundle with the Star of Light stamp set (both from the Holiday Mini Catalog) for this quick and easy card.

I am also participating in the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge along with the FUSION “Red Christmas” Challenge (I was inspired by the colors in the photo as well as the plaid patterns).

When you design with the quilt dies, you have to cut an entire "quilt" using each color so you are able to use all of the pieces to create a set of four individual "quilts"- what a bonus!!

  

To create this set of cards:

1). Using the Big Shot™ with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, emboss four pieces of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount two onto Garden Green cardstock and two onto onto Real Red cardstock.  Trim each again and mount onto the green bases onto Real Red cardstock and the red bases onto Garden Green cardstock.  Mount each to an Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

2). Using the Big Shot™ with the Quilt Builder Framelits Dies, cut four quilts along with the outside frame, one each from Real Red, Garden Green, Whisper White and the Garden Green gingham pattern from the Quilted Christmas 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (DSP).  *** Tip- Use Press ‘n Seal® on the back of each die cut (press the sticky side down before you remove the quilt from the die).  This will help keep all of the pieces together as you create each of the quilt designs.

3). Using Whisper White cardstock, cut four pieces 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” square for the “base” of the quilt.  Apply adhesive onto the base and create each of the quilt patterns.

4). Once all of the quilt patterns are completed, mount a quilt onto each card front on the diagonal using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

5). Ink the sentiment from the Star of Light stamp set with Garden Green Classic Ink and stamp onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. Trim, create the fishtail banner by hand ((I used the retired Hexagon Punch), mount onto Real Red cardstock and adhere to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

 

6). Add the Pearl to the center of each quilt to finish off the cards.

SUO188 Star of Light

Hi Friends!   

It’s time for the #188 “Celebrate Winter Holidays!” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges and since I still need a few more Christmas cards, I chose to create a quick card using the Star of Light stamp set with the coordinating Starlight Thinlit™ Dies.    

I have owned this stamp set with the dies since last year and this is the first time I had a chance to create a card- pitiful, I know :-)  I have so many stamps and so little time!! I love the intricate cuts on the inner star and think that this set may become one of my new favorites!! :-)

You know that I love to participate with online challenges so I also incorporated the Paper Craft Crew Challenge #268 Sketch Challenge, the Addicted to Stamps and More #268 Holiday Challenge, the A Bit More Time To Craft #56 “Anything Goes” Challenge and the Tic-Tac-Toe #024 Challenge (Greeting, Elegant and Circle) into the design.

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with an Embossing Buddy®, stamp the flourish image along with a few of the miscellaneous small star images from the Star of Light stamp set with Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool. 

2). Once the embossing has cooled, use largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits™ to die cut the circle element.  Use the Simply Scored™ Tool to score a few vertical lines along the left hand side of the remaining panel, trim to 4” x 5 ¼” and mount onto a piece of Perfect Plum cardstock. Mount the entire card front onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

3). Die cut a circle from Perfect Plum cardstock using the retired Circle Framelits™ and mount behind the circle cut in the above step.  Adhere the layered circle onto the card front (lining up the flourish image) using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

4). Using the Starlit Thinlits™, die cut the open star from Perfect Plum cardstock and the large intricate star from Silver Foil.  Layer the two together and set aside.

5). De-static a scrap of Whisper White cardstock with an Embossing Buddy®, stamp the sentiment from the Star of Light stamp set with Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Silver Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.  Trim and create the flag banner points by hand (I used the retired Hexagon Punch). Mount onto Perfect Plum cardstock, trim and adhere to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals®. 

6). Add the layered die cut star and finish off the card with a Rhinestone in the center of the star image.

SUO187 Gather Together and Give Thanks

Hi Friends!   

It’s time for the #187  “Being Thankful” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!  

I can always use a few more “thank you” cards in my stash so I decided to create a fall themed card using Vintage Leaves (along with the coordinating dies), Timeless Textures and Painted Harvest to create a Clean and Simple/Mixed Media card.

I also am participating in the Fab Friday #124 Color Challenge along with the Dies R Us #84 “Anything Fall” Challenge.

To create this card:

1). Tap the Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango Classic Ink pads onto a silicone craft mat, spritz lightly with water and press a piece of Whisper White cardstock into the ink, left and re-press the paper in the ink.  Repeat the above steps with a bit of Fresh Fig Classic Ink and once you are satisfied with the colors, dry the panel with the Heat Tool.

2). Ink the leaves from Vintage Leaves with Fresh Fig Classic Ink and stamp onto the panel created in Step 1.  Die cut the leaves with the coordinating Leaflet Framelits™.

3). Using images from the Timeless Textures stamp set, stamp the grid image with Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink several times onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp the polka dot image over the grid image a bit using Tangerine Tango Classic Ink and add a bit of distressing using Fresh Fig Classic Ink with the small splatter stamp.  Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock, trim once more and mount onto a piece of Fresh Fig cardstock.  Mount the entire card front panel onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

4). Use Metallic Gold Thread to create a large loop (adhere to the center area of the card) and layer the long oak leaf directly to the card front and add the other two using Stampin’ Dimensionals® (tucking some of the leaves under the metallic thread).

5). De-static a piece of Fresh Fig cardstock with an Embossing Buddy®, ink the sentiment from Painted Harvest with Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.  Trim the sentiment and add to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

6). Finish off the card by applying a bit of shimmer to the leaves with the Clear Wink of Stella® Pen.

SUO185 Peace, Joy, Love

It’s time for the #185 “Favorite Holiday Item” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!  

I have quite a few favorite items in our Holiday Catalog (the Cat Punch is my absolute favorite but I already used that for our last challenge:-)) so I decided to incorporate four other favorite items- the Quilt Builder Framelits™ Dies, the Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper, the Swirly Snowflake Thinlits™ Dies and the Musical Season Stamp Set.

I also incorporated the Just Add Ink #380 Sketch Challenge into the design and am linking to the International Art & Soul #18 "Monochromatic" Challenge as well as the Simon Says Wednesday “Christmas”Challenge and the Little Red Wagon #414 "Classic Black and White" Challenge.

To create this card:

1). Using the Big Shot™ with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and mount onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

2). Trim a piece of Merry Music Specialty DSP for the vertical panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount into the card front per the JAI sketch.

3). Use the Big Shot™ with the Quilt Builder Framelits™ and die cut two quilt images from the Merry Music DSP and one from Basic Black cardstock and also cut the background square from Basic Black cardstock. 

 ***FYI ****  Glad® Press ‘n Seal® (PNS) works wonderfully to hold all of the quilt die pieces together as you build your quilt.  Once I die cut the quilt, I put the sticky side of the PNS on the cut side of the die and make sure all of the pieces are adhered to the PNS before I “pop” out the quilt from the die.  To arrange the pieces, just peel off each piece of the PNS and adhere to the quilt (I also used Two Way Glue to adhere the pieces to the quilt frame).

4). Die cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the large snowflake border die from the Swirly Snowflake Thinlits™ Dies, trim off a snowflake and tuck under the vertical panel on the card front before mounting the layered quilt with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

5). De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the sentiment from the Musical Season stamp set with Stampin’ Archival™ Basic Black ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.  Trim the sentiment, cut the fishtail banners by hand (or use the retired Hexagon Punch as I did), adhere to a scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock and mount onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

6). Add a few Rhinestones to the card (center of the quilt and snowflake, near the sentiment) and finish off the card using Clear Wink of Stella® on the snowflake and quilt pieces.
