SUO187 Gather Together and Give Thanks

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the #187  “Being Thankful” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!

I can always use a few more “thank you” cards in my stash so I decided to create a fall themed card using Vintage Leaves (along with the coordinating dies), Timeless Textures and Painted Harvest to create a Clean and Simple/Mixed Media card.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the SU-Only Challenge site to check out the rest of the Design Team’s samples or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Tap the Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango Classic Ink pads onto a silicone craft mat, spritz lightly with water and press a piece of Whisper White cardstock into the ink, left and re-press the paper in the ink.  Repeat the above steps with a bit of Fresh Fig Classic Ink and once you are satisfied with the colors, dry the panel with the Heat Tool.

2). Ink the leaves from Vintage Leaves with Fresh Fig Classic Ink and stamp onto the panel created in Step 1.  Die cut the leaves with the coordinating Leaflet Framelits™.

3). Using images from the Timeless Textures stamp set, stamp the grid image with Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink several times onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp the polka dot image over the grid image a bit using Tangerine Tango Classic Ink and add a bit of distressing using Fresh Fig Classic Ink with the small splatter stamp.  Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock, trim once more and mount onto a piece of Fresh Fig cardstock.  Mount the entire card front panel onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

4). Use Metallic Gold Thread to create a large loop (adhere to the center area of the card) and layer the long oak leaf directly to the card front and add the other two using Stampin’ Dimensionals® (tucking some of the leaves under the metallic thread).

5). De-static a piece of Fresh Fig cardstock with an Embossing Buddy®, ink the sentiment from Painted Harvest with Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.  Trim the sentiment and add to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

6). Finish off the card by applying a bit of shimmer to the leaves with the Clear Wink of Stella® Pen.

Stamp Sets: Vintage Leaves, Timeless Textures, Painted Harvest

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™, Fresh Fig, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango

Paper: Whisper White, Fresh Fig, Tangerine Tango, Extra Thick Whisper White
Accessories/Tools: Big Shot™, Leaflet Framelits™, Gold Metallic Thread, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by and I hope that you will create your own Stampin’ Up! Only project and join us for our “Being Thankful” challenge!

SUO180 Celebrate- Another Watercolor Tissue Paper Experiment

Hi Friends!

I have a few birthdays to celebrate in the fall and I decided to play around with the watercolor tissue technique again this time using fall colors (see this post for more details on the technique).

I also will be linking this card to The Paper Players #355Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (Die-Cut, Banner, Birthday) and the Word Art Wednesday#292-#293 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the SU-Only Challengesite to check out the rest of the Design Team projects or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Using a silicone craft mat, tap the So Saffron, Cajun Craze and Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink pads, lightly spritz with water, use a plastic spoon or palette knife to stir the ink a bit and lay a piece of tissue paper into the ink.  Gently lift up the paper and use the Heat Tool to dry the sheet.  Apply additional ink as needed and once you are satisfied with the results and the panel is thoroughly dried, adhere to a piece of Whisper White cardstock, “scrunching” up the tissue as you adhere it to the Whisper White panel.

2). Once the glue has dried, rub a Versamark™ ink pad over the ridges, apply Gold Stampin’ Emboss® Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

3). Use the Big Shot™ with the Leaflets Framelits™ to cut out the leaf.  Ink the corresponding stamp from Vintage Leaves with Cajun Craze Classic Ink, stamp over the entire leaf (difficult to see in the photo), gently wipe off the ink with a dry paper towel from the embossing and set aside.

Close-up of the Watercolor Tissue Detail
4). Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodland Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, trim the panel, mount onto a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock and adhere to the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

5). Loop a bit of Gold Metallic Thread onto the card front and add the die cut leaf with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

6). Heat emboss the sentiment from Beautiful You with Gold Embossing Powder, hand cut the banner points and mount onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

7). Use Clear Wink of Stella® to add shimmer to the birch trees in the background to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Beautiful You, Vintage Leaves

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™, Classic Ink- Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron; Clear Wink of Stella®
Paper: Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze, Extra Thick Whisper White; Wrapping Tissue Paper
Accessories/Tools: Big Shot™, Leaflets Framelits™, Woodland Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Embossing Powder , Heat Tool, Gold Metallic Thread

SUO135 Wilderness Awaits

Hello Friends!

It’s time for the new SUO135 “Fall Fun” Challenge to create a card of what you think of when you think of fall.

I love this time of year and have been creating quite a few cards featuring just the lovely colors of fall with leaves lately, so I decided to create another somewhat masculine card in honor of some of the hunters that I know and love.

Personally I am thankful that my husband is not a hunter (we both love animals too much to actually be the one to shoot them) but being raised by a Dad who was a avid hunter, I understand the need for hunting season.

I decided to use masking and combine a few sets for this scene, and of course, had to add a few fall leaves.

I hope you will have a chance to check out my sister DesignTeam member samples at the SU-Only Challenge site and create your own “Stampin’ Up! Only” project for our challenge gallery.

I am also going to link this card to the Splitcoaststampers’ Free For All F4A293 “Puppy Love” Challenge (I personally have only had cats as my "fur-babies" but do love dogs as well :-)

To create this card:

Stamp the pointer dog image from The Wilderness Awaits using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink on Whisper White cardstock.

Stamp another image of the dog onto a piece of scrap paper or sticky paper to create the mask.

Mask the dog and stamp the trees from Wonderland onto the panel (masking off the bottom portion of the trees).

Color the images using Stampin’ Write Markers- Mossy Meadow for the grass and trees and Sahara Sand for the dog image and Tip Top Taupe for the tree trunks (using an AquaPainter™ to blend).

Use an AquaPainter™ to color the sky and water area with Pool Party Classic Ink and add Mossy Meadow Classic Ink for the shadow of the trees.

Add the horizon lines with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker ink and stamp the sentiment from Lighthearted Leaves using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink.

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Pool Party cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Mossy Meadow card base.

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Tangerine Tango and Calypso Coral Classic Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Ink the leaf images from Vintage Leaves using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, “fussy-cut” each leaf and mount onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets:  The Wilderness Awaits, Wonderland, Vintage Leaves, Lighthearted Leaves
Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Memento™ Tuxedo Black, Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango, Pool Party, Mossy Meadow; Stampin’ Write Markers- Mossy Meadow, Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Tip Top Taupe
Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Pool Party, Mossy Meadow
Accessories: AquaPainter™, scrap paper for masking

Thanks again for stopping by and we hope to see your Stampin’ Up! Only project in our “Fall Fun” Challenge gallery!

Hi Stampers!

It’s time for the new SUO127 “Favorite New Stamp” Challenge!  What a decision- to choose only one as a favorite?  I decided to use The Wilderness Awaits since when I first saw that stamp set, it was immediately added to my “Wish List”.

Of course, I could not use just one, so I combined it with the new Vintage Leaves set as well as Petite Pairs for the sentiment.

I also incorporated the Time Out #35 Nature (with option twistof Animals)  Challenge and  F4A275 “Honor Thy Father” (see the details here and gallery here)

Color the image using Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze and Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Markers for the fox, Wild Wasabi and  Mossy Meadow for the grass along with an AquaPainter™ (scribble the marker onto an acrylic block or craft mat and use the AquaPainter™ to apply to the image, then use the markers themselves as needed for definition).

Trim the image and mount onto Early Espresso cardstock, trim again and mount onto Cajun Craze cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, punch out with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch and mount onto a circle of Early Espresso and Cajun Craze cardstock (also punched with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch).

Adhere the sentiment behind the fox image panel.

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Tangelo Twist, Old Olive and Soft Suede to Very Vanilla cardstock.

Stamp the leaves using Memento® Tuxedo Black Ink and cut out by hand.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Cajun Craze card base.

Add the Maple Leaf to the card front and mount the fox image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to the card front.
