Let the Earth Rejoice

Hi Friends!

I am sharing a quick Clean and fairly Simple Mixed Media card that was designed with the retired Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Bare Tree Die set along with a retired Scripture Medley 4 (Verve Stamps) verse sentiment.

As many of you know, mixed media does not have to be complicated- use any two mediums along with some texture or dimension and that usually qualifies as mixed media.  Since I tend to heat emboss and watercolor almost all of my cards, I am usually creating with mixed media:-)

For this card,  I used distress oxide inks along with acrylic paint and heat embossing as the "mediums".  Texture was added with dimension as well as the sequins.  If you follow my blog, you know that Clean and Simple (CAS) is not my normal  "go-to" style but I am am working on it, lol!

I enjoy participating with online challenges and will be linking this card to the Just Add Ink #515 “Mixed Media” Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #448-#449 “Anything Goes”Challenge.

To create this card:

Using an acetate envelope (or craft sheet), pat distress oxide ink onto the surface, spritz with water and press a piece of white cardstock into the ink.  Continue the process until you are satisfied with the results and heat dry with a heat tool between layers.

Trim the panels and apply white acrylic shimmer paint, allow the panels to dry before mounting onto black cardstock.

Use an embossing powder tool to de-static the lower right hand corner of a piece of white cardstock, stamp the verse sentiment with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the verse panel with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto black cardstock (trim close to the edge).

Die cut several of the trees from black cardstock and layer onto one another (this adds dimension plus a bit of strength to the die cut).

Layer the four oxide panels onto the card front using chipboard (or dimensional foam) and add the tree die cut.

Mount the panel onto a white card base and finish off the card with a few clear iridescent sequins.

Stamp Sets: Scripture Medley 4 (retired Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz™ Broken China, Picked Raspberry, Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide; Frost White Shimmer Paint

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr™, Dies- My Favorite Things™ Stitched Rectangle A2 Set 1, Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps retired Tree; Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Clear Iridescent Sequins, Acetate Envelope, Water Spritzer Bottle

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope I have inspired you to create a mixed media project :-)  Hugs and have a great week, sweet friends!

Sending Peace Kitty

Hi Friends!

This card was designed a few items that I had in my stash – the sentiment had been printed off a while ago and I also had the little die cut black kitty and tree ready to go.

I was inspired by the Splitcoaststampers SC742 Sketch for the layout and will also be linking to the Power Poppy “”Rock That Mojo” Challenge (of course, the sketch was my initial “mojo”).

If you have not had chance to check out the above challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- tremendous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Using Distress Oxide Inks- I used Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Picked Raspberry, tap the ink onto a silicone craft mat, spritz with water and press a piece of white cardstock into the ink.  Continue to layer ink until you are satisfied with the results, using a heat tool to dry the panel between each layer.

Cut the panel into four pieces, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edges.

Print out the digi sentiment from Roses & Chamomile (Power Poppy) onto white cardstock, press the cardstock into the distress oxide inks (as in the step above) and dry with a heat tool.  Die cut with a stitched circle die, mount onto another circle die cut from black cardstock.

Ink the Dictionary background stamp with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto kraft cardstock, heat set the ink with a heat tool and die cut with a stitched rectangle die.

Adhere the crochet lace and strip of white seam binding (wrapping the ends behind the panel).

Add the four strips of the oxide background with dimensional foam (or chipboard) along with the mounted sentiment onto the panel.

Adhere the die cut tree and tiny kitty die and mount the seam binding bow with the wooden button in the center.

Finish off the card with a few pearls around the bottom edge of the sentiment.

Stamp Sets: Roses & Chamomile (digital-Power Poppy by Marcella), Dictionary (retired Stampin' Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Printer Ink- Black,  Versamark™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz™ Distress Oxide Inks- Broken China, Picked Raspberry, Tumbled Glass

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Kraft

Accessories: Gemini, Jr.™, Dies- My Digital Studio™, My Favorite Things™ Rectangle A2 Set 1 & 2, Sizzix™ Circles,  Impression Obsession Cats, retired Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Tree; Heat Tool, 1/2” White Seam Binding, White Crochet Lace, Wooden Button

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!

I Will Never Leave You

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are staying healthy and home!  I have been busy creating cards and wanted to share another card that I designed using the iris image from the A True Friend Stamp/Die Duo (Divinity Designs, LLC).

For this card, I combined the iris image with a sentiment from the Stamp Simply Fear Not stamp set along with some retired designer papers and gold twine.

I wanted to participate with a few online challenges and will be linking up to the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #131 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (Middle Row Across- Embossing, Die Cut or Punch and Twine).

The Retro Rubber Challenge Blog encourages you to ink up images from stamps that are at least one year old (perfect for my own personal challenge to use my older stamps) and the Iris image from Divinity Designs, LLC is from July 2016 and I have owned the Fear Not stamp set  from Stamp Simply for several years.

I am also linking to the Just Add Ink #498 "Just Add E" Challenge (E= Embossing -dry and heat),  Simon Says Monday Spring Mood Board Challenge (I was inspired by the colors, the flowers and the overall spring feeling), the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge #SC378 Sketch for the layout on this card.

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock, ink the iris image from A True Friend and the sentiment from Fear Not using Versamark™ Onyx Black, stamp both onto the prepared panel, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing cools, die cut the sentiment with an oval stitched die.  Die cut another oval from black cardstock, split into two and layer behind the sentiment.
Watercolor the iris image with water-based markers and fussy cut the flower (FYI- the set from Divinity Designs, LLC now comes with a coordinating die).

Emboss a piece of yellow designer paper with a chevron embossing folder (this paper was from an Anna Griffin pack that I bought at least twenty years ago), trim and mount onto black cardstock.

Die cut a stitched rectangle from white cardstock, stencil Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink over the background as well as over the sentiment.  Mount the rectangle panel onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Layer the white cardstock panel onto black cardstock as well as the green designer paper (per the sketch). Mount onto a white card base.

Adhere horizontal embossed yellow panel, add the stitched rectangle panel and mount the iris image using dimensional foam (or scraps of chipboard, which I prefer).

Add the looped gold twine and mount the sentiment over the twine with dimensional foam.

Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the iris and add a few pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: A True Friend (Divinity Designs LLC), Fear Not (Stamp Simply)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black; Stampin’ Write Markers- Highland Heather, Gorgeuos Grape, Concord Crush, Granny Apple Green, So Saffron, Crushed Curry; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Designer Series Paper (Stampin’ Up!); misc. designer paper (Anna Griffin) from my stash

Accessories: Gemini, Jr.™, MFT Stitched Rectangle A2 STAX Set 1 & 2, MFT Stitched Oval STAX, retired Chevron Embossing Folder (Stampin’ Up!), Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, AquaPainter™, Memory Box Heartwood Stencil, Clarity Stencil Brush, Gold Twine, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I am praying that all of you are staying home as much as possible and staying safe- virtual hugs!

By The Seashore- Thy Word

Hi Friends!

Here is another fairly quick and easy card!  This is the first time I have stamped the verse image for this card (although I have owned it for at least a year)!  I love the mixed fonts on this, don't you?

I am so thankful that I had the time to pull out this verse stamp along with the seashore set and combine it with this retired paper!  I have been hoarding this paper and when I saw the inspiration photo at the Just Add Ink #436 Inspiration Challenge, I thought it would be perfect!  Obviously, I was inspired by the starfish, the beach and water, well all of it for my card :-)

In addition to the Just Add Ink Challenge, I am playing along with the As You See It #221 “Preferences-My Fav Card to Make is …. ” Challenge.  My favorite card to make is any card using Scripture.

I love to use a particular Scripture/Bible Verse on a card to encourage the recipient (even on birthday cards) and I know that some of the recipients have told me that they display the cards year round.

This card uses the Typografia in Faith set, Thy Word is a Lamp (from STAMPlorations) for the sentiment and the retired By the Seashore (Stampin' Up!) for the seashell/starfish images and the splatter image from One Wild Ride (currently available from Stampin' Up!) around the sand and seashells.

To create this card:

De-static the piece of designer paper (I used the retired Scenic Scenery Designer Series Pack from Stampin’ Up!).  I thought this piece of dsp looked just like the photo (or almost, lol!).
Stamp the verse image, Thy Word is a Lamp directly onto the designer series paper (dsp) with archival black ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.

Stamp the shell/starfish images onto white cardstock with archival black ink, heat emboss with clear embossing powder and once cooled, watercolor with water-based markers and fussy cut.

Layer the background panel onto black cardstock, stamp the “sand” with the splatter stamp around the bottom and side of the panel with archival brown ink and adhere the seashells/starfish using dimensional foam (or chipboard, my preference lately).

Mount onto black cardstock, trim and mount onto the white card base.

Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the sand and shells and the card is finished!

Stamp Sets: By the Seashore, One Wild Ride (retired/current Stampin’ Up!), Thy Word is a Lamp (current STAMPLorations)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black; Stampin’ Write Markers- Crumb Cake, Flirty Flamingo; Tim Holtz® Distress Archival Vintage Photo; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black; retired Scenic Scenery DSP pack (all Stampin’ Up!)

Accessories: AquaPainter™, Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope all of have a wonderful week staying healthy, sweet friends!

Be Still and Know

Hi Friends!!

I hope all of you are having a great week!  Tonight I am sharing another card designed with retired sets and supplies from my stash.

I wanted to participate with the Just Add Ink #491 Inspiration Challenge (I was inspired by the sand as well as the pastel colors) and am also linking to the Joy of Sets #014 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (top row across  Watercolor- Purple- Die Cuts) and the Addicted to Stamps and More #376 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

The image and sentiment were heat embossed with clear embossing powder and brush markers were used to watercolor the seaside and seashell images.

A few rectangles were die cut for the layers and all were mounted onto black cardstock.

The seashells were fussy-cut, distress oxide ink was sponged over all of the edges of the seashells and a clear glitter pen was used to add shimmer to both the shells and water.

Once the layers were added to the card front, the looped silver cord was added prior to mounting the seashells with dimensional foam.

Stamp Sets: Seaside Sketches, Stipple Shells (retired Stampin’ Up!), Scripture Medley 1 (retired Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Memento™ Tuxedo Black, Zig® Real Brush Clean Color Markers- Lt. Blue, Turquoise, Lt. Pink, Lt. Gray, Yellow Ochre; Ground Espresso Distress Oxide Ink, Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen
