Be Still and Know

Hi Friends!

This morning I am sharing a fairly simple Mixed Media card designed with the Ultimate Poppy digi image by Power Poppy by Marcella for the main floral image and the sentiment is from the Words of Encouragement stamp set by Stamp Simply.

I wanted to participate with the Color Throwdown #600 Red, Green, Black and White Challenge and decided to incorporate those colors into the design.

Wow, congratulations to The Color Throwdown for their 600th challenge!  Being a coordinator as well as one the Design Team for The Card Concept Challenge, trust me, making it to your 600th challenge is quite an accomplishment!!

I am also participating with the Retro Rubber #138 "Anything Goes" Challenge- I have had this image since May of 2019 and never used it yet plus the sentiment is also one I have had for over a year (one of the requirements of the Retro Rubber Blog Challenge is to use stamps/images over a year old:-)).  Which, as you know, is one of my main goals- love their challenges!

To create this card:

Print the Ultimate Poppy image onto white cardstock (I used the retired My Digital Studio from Stampin’ Up! to import the image, resize a tiny bit and printed onto a coated white cardstock).  If you do not have a photo editing software, you can even import digital images in to Word and print them out.

The image was colored with multiple layers of watercolor pencils and water based markers in black, red and green.  The background has a blue base layer before covering heavily with a black watercolor pencil (several layers) and dabbing with a wet paper towel to achieve texture.

The panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle die, the lower corner was prepped with an embossing powder tool .

A closer look at the background texture
The sentiment from Stamp Simply sentiment was stamped with embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

The panel was layered onto white cardstock, trimmed and layered onto black cardstock, trimmed and repeated again onto white ,then black before mounting onto a white card base.

The card was finished off using a clear glitter pen on the petals and a white paint pen for the flower center.

Be Still and Know

Hi Friends!!

I hope all of you are having a great week!  Tonight I am sharing another card designed with retired sets and supplies from my stash.

I wanted to participate with the Just Add Ink #491 Inspiration Challenge (I was inspired by the sand as well as the pastel colors) and am also linking to the Joy of Sets #014 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (top row across  Watercolor- Purple- Die Cuts) and the Addicted to Stamps and More #376 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

The image and sentiment were heat embossed with clear embossing powder and brush markers were used to watercolor the seaside and seashell images.

A few rectangles were die cut for the layers and all were mounted onto black cardstock.

The seashells were fussy-cut, distress oxide ink was sponged over all of the edges of the seashells and a clear glitter pen was used to add shimmer to both the shells and water.

Once the layers were added to the card front, the looped silver cord was added prior to mounting the seashells with dimensional foam.

Stamp Sets: Seaside Sketches, Stipple Shells (retired Stampin’ Up!), Scripture Medley 1 (retired Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Memento™ Tuxedo Black, Zig® Real Brush Clean Color Markers- Lt. Blue, Turquoise, Lt. Pink, Lt. Gray, Yellow Ochre; Ground Espresso Distress Oxide Ink, Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Psalm 46:10- Be Still and Know that I AM GOD :-)

Hi Again Stampers!

I wanted to share another card that I created this past weekend using the FabFri65 Color Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers’ SC527 Sketch Challenge (see details here and gallery here) and Simon Wednesday 05/27/15 "Anything Goes" Challenge for inspiration.

I have a few people in mind for this card so I wanted to make sure that it would be feminine or masculine in style :-)

Again, if you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will find the time to visit both challenge sites to check out the Design Team samples as well as their galleries!

To create this Clean and Layered (CAL) card:

Ink the Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) As You Graduate image using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Using a Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen Black marker, fill in the butterflies in the foreground.

Use an AquaPainter™ with Marina Mist Classic Ink to color in the sky/cloud area and the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the stone path.

Trim the image and mount onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock.

Using My Digital Studio (MDS) insert the Word Art Wednesday free digital verse image, re-size and print out onto Whisper White cardstock.

Trim the verse and mount onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of Night of Navy cardstock.

Adhere the verse panel to the front of the focal image panel and set aside.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock,  trim and mount onto a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock, trim again and mount onto the Night of Navy card base.

Adhere the retired Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper (DSP) strips to Night of Navy cardstock and mount onto the card base.

Add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamps: As You Graduate (ODBD), Word Art Wednesday Free Digital Image

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, Marina Mist; Stampin’ Write Markers- Sahara Sand; Faber-Castell® Pitt Pen Black Marker

Paper: Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Night of Navy; retired Eastern Elegance DSP
