Classic Garage Birthday

Hi Friends!!

I hope all of you had a great weekend!  This evening we were able to celebrate my nephew’s 20th birthday (a bit belated) and I had fun creating this card especially for him.

I decided to pull out the retired Classic Garage Designer Series Paper (Stampin’ Up!) and paired with a verse sentiment from the retired Verve Stamps, Scripture Medley 3 along with a few die cut gears.

The car image was fussy-cut from the designer paper and mounted onto three layers of black cardstock (to create a chipboard type of embellishment).

The background layer started out as a piece of white cardstock embossed with a diamond plate embossing folder, then platinum embellishment mousse was applied with a pallet knife (my embellishment mousse has dried up so I had to spritz the background with water and once the panel was almost dry, re-embossed it with the embossing folder).

The verse sentiment was heat embossed with clear embossing powder and the gear die was cut from a silver metallic paper I had in my stash.  I added a bit of shimmer to the car and used a silver metallic marker on the rims of the wheels.  A few rhinestones later and the card was finished!

I decided to incorporate the Splitcoaststampers SC785 Sketch into the design and will also be linking to the Little Red Wagon #534 “Aw, Man!” Challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday “AnythingGoes” Challenge.

A scrap strip of the car background designer paper was adhered on three sides to the inside of the card.  This allowed us to create a pocket so we could slip a gift card from Chick Fil-A (his favorite lunch spot)- he seemed to be pleased :-)

Stamp Sets: Scripture Medley 3 (retired Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Nuvo™ Pure Platinum Embellishment Mousse, Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Silver Metallic Marker

Bless the Lord, Bless His Holy Name

Hi Friends!!

I am finally getting a chance to share another card I designed this past weekend.  This was a quick and easy card using the retired Stampin’ Up! Sunflower background stamp along with the retired set, Good Work by Verve Stamps.

If you have not had a chance to drop by the above challenge sites yet, I hope you do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

Ink the sunflower image using Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Color the cooled image with water-based markers and fussy cut the image.  Cut the image in half (you can create two cards from one image).

Heat emboss the sentiment using the same steps as above, die cut with a banner die and layer onto a piece of black cardstock (trimming close to the edge).

Layer a piece of black and white designer paper onto a piece of black cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto a white card base.

Die cut a piece of white cardstock with a stitched rectangle die, layer onto a piece of black cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto the card front.

Add the layered banner sentiment with dimensional foam or chipboard.  Adhere the sunflower, overlapping the sentiment layer a bit.

Finish off the card with a few pearls and add shimmer to the petals with a clear glitter pen.

Stamp Sets: Sunflower (Stampin’ Up!), Good Work (Verve Stamps)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black,  Stampin’ Write Markers- Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black; retired SU! Background Paper

Accessories: Big Shot™ ,  MFT Dies- Stitched Rectangle A2 STAX Set 1, Fishtail Flags Layers STAX Die-namics; Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Clear Embossing Powder

I am so thankful that you stopped by- hugs and I hope you have a blessed weekend/week!

So Blessed By Your Friendship

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a productive week so far! I am finally having a chance to catch up on some of my favorite online challenges and created another Clean and Simple (CAS) card using several stamp sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps- Sweet As Honey, Thoughtful Words and Grunge Elements 2.

I am linking this card to the Less Is More #373 “Friendship Challenge along with the Little Red Wagon #450 “To Bee or Not To Bee” Challenge. Once I finished the card, I realized that the design is a modified version of the CASE This Sketch #276 Sketch Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1).  Using archival black ink, stamp bee image from Sweet As Honey onto white cardstock and heat set with a heat tool.  Color the image with water-based markers and fussy-cut the bee.

2). Using a rectangle stitched die, die cut two pieces of white cardstock (one for the card base and one for the focal image).

3). On the smaller rectangle, stamp the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey as well as the splatter image from Grunge Elements 2 with distress oxide inks and dry with a heat tool.

4). De-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Thoughtful Words with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

5). Mount both panels to a white card base, add the fussy-cut bee image and a few crystal drops to mimic honey.  To finish off the card, use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the bee and honeycomb.

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide- Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey; TH Wild Honey Distress Marker, Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Nuvo™ Limoncella Jewel Drops

Scene Silhouettes- Woodland

Hi Friends!

I am here again sharing another card that I designed this past week using a few of Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps new December release stamp sets.

As I mentioned in my previous posts, several of the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps December release stamp setsare silhouettes which are perfect for scenes as well as masculine (and feminine) cards- I have paired this card with the new Thoughtful Words stamp set- I love the fonts on this set that Nina B. designed for Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps!!

Also, don’t forget that this month Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps is offering the Scene Silhouettes:Woodland stamp set free with any $60 order!!

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

This card was fairly easy card to create- I heat embossed the deer image from Scene Silhouettes:Woodland using white embossing powder onto cherry cardstock, die cut the image, mounted onto black cardstock and layered with designer paper along with satin ribbon and a heat embossed sentiment from the new Thoughtful Words stamp set.

Another fun card using the December release stamp sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps!

Autumn Blessings

Hi Friends!

I loved this week’s Splitcoaststampers CC660 "Crazed Over Crushed Cherry Cobbler" Color Challenge with an optional dessert option of "Gratitude"- don’t you?

The leaves are all in there spectacular glory here on the East Coast and I wanted to play along so I decided to create a fairly quick Mixed Media card using Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps- Skeleton Leaf Background (designed by Korin Sutherland) and So Grateful (designed by Gloria Stengel).  I love both of these sets together- so many possibilities plus there is a chance to win the So Grateful stamp set with our Facebook giveaway this week- check out the details here!!

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

Plus, we are celebrating our 10th Birthday at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps- there are so many promotions along with a few giveaways! Come check out the details here!!

To create this card:

1). Tap Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide Inks onto a silicone craft mat- Fossilized Amber, Candied Apple and Fired Brick (I worked with two colors at a time).  Lightly spritz with water, place a piece of white cardstock into the ink, “smoosh” around, lift up and repeat until you are satisfied with the coverage :-).

Ink the Skeleton Leaf Background stamp with archival black ink, stamp onto the panel prepared in Step #1, re-ink and stamp partially to fill up the panel.  Dry with a heat tool (to speed up the drying process), trim to approx. 3 ¾” x 5” and cut into three panels.  Mount each panel onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.  Add a bit more color with water-based cherry and cajun inks as needed.

3). Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4” x 5 ¼”, mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto the white card front.

4). Add the leaf panels to the card front with dimensional foam.

5). Ink the sentiment from So Grateful with archival ink, stamp onto a piece of vellum, apply gold embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Trim the sentiment and adhere to the card front (I used adhesive in the top left corner and behind the letters).

6). Add the looped thin black satin bow with the antique brad center to the left corner (hides the adhesive for the vellum) and a few copper sequins to finish off the card.

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide Inks-Fossilized Amber, Candied Apple, Fired Brick; Stampin’ Up! Classic Ink- Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black

Acessories/Tools: Embossing Buddy®, Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, 1/8” Black Satin Ribbon, Antique Brad, Copper Sequins

SUO185 Peace, Joy, Love

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the #185 “Favorite Holiday Item” Challenge at SU-Only Challenges!

I have quite a few favorite items in our Holiday Catalog (the Cat Punch is my absolute favorite but I already used that for our last challenge:-)) so I decided to incorporate four other favorite items- the Quilt Builder Framelits™ Dies, the Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper, the Swirly Snowflake Thinlits™ Dies and the Musical Season Stamp Set.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the SU-Only Challenge site to check out the rest of the Design Team projects or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Using the Big Shot™ with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and mount onto the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

2). Trim a piece of Merry Music Specialty DSP for the vertical panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount into the card front per the JAI sketch.

3). Use the Big Shot™ with the Quilt Builder Framelits™ and die cut two quilt images from the Merry Music DSP and one from Basic Black cardstock and also cut the background square from Basic Black cardstock.

***FYI ****  Glad® Press ‘n Seal® (PNS) works wonderfully to hold all of the quilt die pieces together as you build your quilt.  Once I die cut the quilt, I put the sticky side of the PNS on the cut side of the die and make sure all of the pieces are adhered to the PNS before I “pop” out the quilt from the die.  To arrange the pieces, just peel off each piece of the PNS and adhere to the quilt (I also used Two Way Glue to adhere the pieces to the quilt frame).

4). Die cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the large snowflake border die from the Swirly Snowflake Thinlits™ Dies, trim off a snowflake and tuck under the vertical panel on the card front before mounting the layered quilt with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

5). De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the sentiment from the Musical Season stamp set with Stampin’ Archival™ Basic Black ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.  Trim the sentiment, cut the fishtail banners by hand (or use the retired Hexagon Punch as I did), adhere to a scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock and mount onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

6). Add a few Rhinestones to the card (center of the quilt and snowflake, near the sentiment) and finish off the card using Clear Wink of Stella® on the snowflake and quilt pieces.

Stamp Sets: Musical Season

Ink/Mediums: Stampin’ Archival™ Basic Black,; Clear Wink of Stella™
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black,  Extra Thick Whisper White; Merry Music Specialty DSP
Accessories/Tools: Big Shot™, Quilt Builder Thinlits™ Dies, Swirly Snowflake Thinlits™ Dies, Softly Falling Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Rhinestones, Glad® Press ‘n Seal®

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by! I hope I have inspired you to pull out your  Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog items and create a project for our “Favorite Holiday Catalog Product”  challenge!
