So Blessed By Your Friendship

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a productive week so far! I am finally having a chance to catch up on some of my favorite online challenges and created another Clean and Simple (CAS) card using several stamp sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps- Sweet As Honey, Thoughtful Words and Grunge Elements 2.

I am linking this card to the Less Is More #373 “Friendship Challenge along with the Little Red Wagon #450 “To Bee or Not To Bee” Challenge. Once I finished the card, I realized that the design is a modified version of the CASE This Sketch #276 Sketch Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1).  Using archival black ink, stamp bee image from Sweet As Honey onto white cardstock and heat set with a heat tool.  Color the image with water-based markers and fussy-cut the bee.

2). Using a rectangle stitched die, die cut two pieces of white cardstock (one for the card base and one for the focal image).

3). On the smaller rectangle, stamp the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey as well as the splatter image from Grunge Elements 2 with distress oxide inks and dry with a heat tool.

4). De-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Thoughtful Words with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

5). Mount both panels to a white card base, add the fussy-cut bee image and a few crystal drops to mimic honey.  To finish off the card, use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the bee and honeycomb.

SC690 The Word of the Lord is True

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the weekly sketch at Splitcoaststampers!  Allison is our #SC690 sketch artist this week and think her sketch is perfect for so many occasions- don't you?

I decided to use bees versus the butterflies in the design and pulled out the several sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps- Sweet As Honey, Grunge Elements 2 and the March Stamp of the Month, Texture Tiles I to create a Mixed Media Shabby Chic card.  I have mentioned before that my hubby and I collect antique honey dishes and one of the requirements is that the dish has to have a bee on it :-)  In real life I am afraid of bees (since I am allergic to their stings), but I do love bee images- go figure :-)

I also love using Scripture on the front of my cards and hope that the recipient can display the card for a longer period of time (if they wish) than just a few weeks for their birthday, etc. and thought that this verse would be one that could be displayed year round:-)

Psalm 19:10 is perfect for memorization and reflection- God’s Word is Truth and is sweeter than honey!!   It is a comfort to know that He will never leave us or forsake us- What a Savior we have in Jesus Christ, our Lord!

Don’t forget- you only have a few more days to be able to receive the March Stamp of the Month, Texture Tiles I free with your net $75 order (US$$- after all other discounts are applied) from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps! I love all four of the texture tiles in this set and the offer is available until March 31st.  Plus with $75 (US order- after all discounts) you will receive free shipping!!

If you have not had a chance to visit the Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch gallery or other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- beautiful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). On a silicone craft mat, press Tim Holtz® Fossilized Amber and Wild Honey Distress Oxide Ink, lightly spritz with water and press a piece of coated white cardstock into the ink.  Dry with a heat tool and continue to add color with additional Distress Oxide Ink as well as Faber-Castell® Gelatos™- Gold Champagne and Iced Coffee (this adds a bit of shimmer).

2).  Ink the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey with Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink and stamp repeatedly over the panel to create the background.  Add additional shadows with Derwent® Watercolor Pencils (I used Deep Cadmium and Burnt Sienna).  Add additional distressing with the splatter image from Texture Tiles I with Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain Distress Ink along with the large splat image from Grunge Elements 2 using Wild Honey Distress Oxide Ink.  Stamp the script image from Texture Tiles I with Fossilized Amber over the entire panel and heat set with a heat tool.

3). Trim the panel and die cut a rectangle shape from the upper left (you will use this for layer #3 in the sketch).

4). De-static the lower part of the panel with an embossing powder tool, ink the verse from Sweet As Honey with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink (I carefully cut the first line apart from the stamp to use separately), stamp onto the panel and heat set with clear embossing powder.  Once the embossing powder has cooled, layer onto a piece of black cardstock, trim and mount onto a white card base.

5). Layer the die cut rectangle onto a piece of black cardstock, hand tear the bottom edge and use a distressing tool to distress the edge a bit further.  Mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

6). De-static a piece of white and black cardstock with an embossing powder tool.  Stamp three of the bee image from Sweet As Honey with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and the top part of the verse sentiment (that you had cut off in step #4) with Versamark™ ink.  Apply clear embossing powder to the bees and white embossing powder to the sentiment, heat all with a heat tool to melt the embossing powder.

7). Once the embossing powder has cooled, watercolor the bees using Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink and use a slate marker to add shadows to the wings.  Fussy-cut each of the bees and hand trim the sentiment.  Add the bees directly to the rectangle panel and the sentiment with dimensional foam.  Add a bit of shimmer to the bee’s wings with a Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen.

8). Add “drips of honey” with Nuvo™ Limoncello Jewel Drops to finish off the card.

SC681 Sweeter Than Honey

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the weekly sketch #SC681 at Splitcoaststampers! Allison was our sketch designer this week and I love this fun sketch she has designed for all of us!

I wanted to create a quick Mixed Media card using the Sweet As Honey (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) and paired it with Grunge Elements 2.

I am also linking this card to the Simon Says Wednesday “Add A Sentiment” Challenge and the Happy Little Stampers January Mixed Media “Garden” Challenge (not sure about you, but we always have bees in our garden :-)).

If you have not had a chance to visit the Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch gallery or other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Using distress oxide inks- fossilized amber and wild honey, press the pads onto a silicone mat, lightly spritz with water and press a piece of white cardstock into the ink. Lift up, dry with a heat tool and repeat if necessary.  Add a bit of splatter with the large splatter stamp from Grunge Elements 2 and the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey using wild honey distress ink. Die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die.  Use a stencil brush to add wild honey distress ink to the background panel.

2). Dilute a bit of black soot distress ink and splatter onto the panel.  Mount onto a piece of white cardstock, trim and mount onto the black card base.

3). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse from Sweet As Honey using archival black ink and stamp onto the panel.  Apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool. Once the embossing has cooled, die cut with a stitched circle die.  Mount onto a larger circle of black cardstock.

4). Re-ink the verse, stamp onto a piece of black cardstock and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Once the embossing has cooled, trim and mount onto the layered circle sentiment with dimensional foam. Trim the edge off the side, mount onto the card front and adhere the entire card front to the white card base.

5). Ink the bee image from Sweet As Honey with archival black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool. Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor with wild honey and hickory smoke distress ink.  Fussy-cut the bee and add to the card front.  Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the bee.

6). Add a few jewel drops to finish off the card.

Sweet As Honey- The Word of the Lord is True

Hi Friends!

I am sharing another vintage style mixed media card using the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps, Sweet As Honey Clear Stamp Set (designed by Korin Sutherland).  I mentioned in my previous post how much I love collecting honey dishes and this bee image is just so irresistible to me (I know, crazy, right?)!

I wanted to participate in a few online challenges so I am linking to the Inkspirational #138 Rural Challenge ( I remember visiting my Grandparents farm and all of the bees :-)), the Simon Says Monday “Distress It”  Challenge as the Happy Little Stampers July Mixed Media “Texture” Challenge (I added texture with the distressing, heat embossing, popped up bees and the crystal drops :-)).

Again, if you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1).  On a scrap piece of white cardstock, take the antique linen distress oxide ink pad and swipe across the paper, use a sponge to blend out the ink and heat with the heat tool.  Use another sponge to add fossilized amber distress oxide ink, heat with the heat tool and repeat the process with a bit of wild honey and vintage photo distress oxide ink (heating with the heat tool as well). Spritz a bit of water onto the paper, tap the excess water off with a paper towel and heat with the heat tool to dry the paper.

2). Ink the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey with fossilized amber distress oxide ink, stamp onto the panel, add clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Once the embossing powder has cooled, use a sponge dauber to add additional vintage photo along with fossilized amber distress oxide ink over the embossed images, wipe off the excess ink with a dry paper towel and spritz with additional water.

3). Use a distressing tool to distress the edges, mount onto espresso cardstock and distress the edges as well.

4). Tap the wild honey, fossilized amber and vintage distress oxide inks onto a craft mat, spritz with water and lay a piece of designer paper into the ink.  Lift up and continue to add layers of ink, drying with a heat tool between layers.

5). Once you are satisfied with the results on the background, distress the edges with a distressing tool, mount onto espresso cardstock and mount onto the white card base.  Sponge vintage photo distress oxide ink over the edges of the card base to tone down the white panel.

6). Add the honeycomb panel directly to the card front.

7). Stamp the sentiment with onyx black archival ink onto white cardstock, heat set to dry the ink with a heat tool, trim and distress the edges before mounting onto espresso cardstock and distressing the edges to match with the distressing tool. Mount the sentiment to the card front using dimensional foam.

8).  Ink the bee images  from Sweet As Honey with onyx black archival ink, stamp onto a piece of white cardstock, and heat set with a heat tool (to speed up the drying process). Color the bees with a honey marker, fussy cut and watercolor the wings with a bit of black soot distress oxide ink before using a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the wings.

9). Mount the bees to the card front with dimensional foam.

10). Add a few lemon jewel drops to the background to finish off the card.

Sweet As Honey

Hi Friends!

Today we are celebrating the July Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps  Release and this Mixed Media card was designed with the new Sweet As Honey stamp set.

I just love the bee image with the honeycomb as well as the sentiments and verses that Korin Sutherland designed for this set! They are perfect for cards, home décor as well as bible art journaling!

I incorporated the Splitcoaststampers SC645 Sketch Challenge along with the DeepOcean #158 “Lots of Layers” Challenge and the Simon Wednesday “Summer Sunshine”Challenge (to me, the bright sunny colors and of course, bees are definitely part of summer sunshine :-)) into the design.

Again, if you have not had a chance to visit the challenge sites or SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Using distress stains (Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade) tap onto a craft mat, spritz with water and lay two pieces of white cardstock into the ink.  Lift up and continue to add layers of ink, drying with a heat tool between layers.

2). Once you are satisfied with the results, ink the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey with wild honey distress stain and stamp onto one of the background panels.  Add diluted white acrylic paint with a paint brush (as needed) to tone down some of the color.  Distress the edges and mount onto a piece of black cardstock. Add the crochet lace and gingham ribbon to the panel (wrap the edges of the ribbon behind the panel) and mount the entire panel onto the white card base.

3). On the second background piece, trim the panel, distress the edges using a tearing tool and your finger before stamping the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey with hickory smoke distress ink.  Mount onto a piece of black cardstock and adhere the panel to the card front with dimensional foam.

4). Ink the sentiment and bees from Sweet As Honey with archival black ink, stamp onto a piece of white cardstock, and heat set with a heat tool (to speed up the drying process). Color the bees with a honey marker, fussy cut and add shimmer to the wings with a clear glitter pen.

5). Die cut the sentiment with a stitched oval die, use a sponge dauber to apply wild honey distress stain to the edges and stamp the honeycomb image with Wild Honey distress stain as well (stamp the honeycomb off onto scrap paper before adding to the sentiment).

6). Mount the sentiment and bees to the card front along with a few rhinestones to finish off the card.

Thanks again for stopping by- hugs and I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!
