TCC213 Joy

 Hi Friends!

Happy New Year!  We are back with our challenges at The Card Concept with our #213 Winter Solace Challenge

I was inspired by the beautiful deer, the metallic colors and the textures for my Clean and Layered Mixed Media card.

I decided to ink up a few of my neglected stamps (I am still working on my goal of inking up stamps from my stash).  I was able to incorporate at least three different older stamp sets, an older embossing folder and die set into the design, yea!!

I am also participating with the Word Art Wednesday #681-#682 “Anything Goes” Challenge .

If you have not had a chance to check out challenge blog to see how the rest of The Card Concept Design Team were inspired as well as check out the Word Art Wednesday challenge gallery to see their fabulous creations!

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the stag image from the Yuletide Deer stamp set with Versamark ink, stamp onto the prepared paper, apply pewter embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Repeat the above steps with the “Joy” sentiment from Endless Wishes.

Once the embossing has cooled, use a fine tip bronze water-based marker to color in some of the design elements on the stag image.

Die cut the image with the Hemstitch Square Die, mount onto a piece of silver mirror cardstock (trimmed to slightly smaller than the die cut square).

De-static the lower left-hand area near the stag, ink the sentiment from the retired Endless Wishes with Versamark ink, apply pewter embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.

For the background panel, use a paintbrush to apply Champagne and Pewter Metallic Ink.  Use a heat tool to dry the ink.

De-static and stamp the Grunge Elements 2 image with Versamark ink over the metallic ink areas,  apply gold and pewter embossing powder, heat set with a heat tool (it is hard to see this part of the stamped images, but they are there).

Trim the background panel to 4” x 5 ¼”, mount onto a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of silver mirror cardstock.

Adhere the entire panel to a white card base.

Emboss a piece of the silver mirror cardstock with a diamond embossing folder.  Trim and adhere behind the stag image.

To finish off the card, mount the entire stag image onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Stamp Sets:  Yuletide Deer (STAMPlorations), Endless Wishes (retired Stampin’ Up!), Grunge Elements 2 (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)

Inks/Mediums: Versamark, Tsukineko Champagne and Platinum Metallic Inks, Arteza Bronze Extra Fine Marker

Cardstock/Paper: White, Silver Mirror Cardstock (from my stash)

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr., Spellbinders Hemstitch Square Dies, Sizzix Diamond Embossing Folder, Embossing Powder Tool, Gold and Pewter Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by! I hope you are inspired to create a card and join us for our #213 {Winter Solace} Challenge at The Card Concept!  The deadline to play along is Monday, February 10th at noon EDT.

So Blessed By Your Friendship

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a productive week so far! I am finally having a chance to catch up on some of my favorite online challenges and created another Clean and Simple (CAS) card using several stamp sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps- Sweet As Honey, Thoughtful Words and Grunge Elements 2.

I am linking this card to the Less Is More #373 “Friendship Challenge along with the Little Red Wagon #450 “To Bee or Not To Bee” Challenge. Once I finished the card, I realized that the design is a modified version of the CASE This Sketch #276 Sketch Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1).  Using archival black ink, stamp bee image from Sweet As Honey onto white cardstock and heat set with a heat tool.  Color the image with water-based markers and fussy-cut the bee.

2). Using a rectangle stitched die, die cut two pieces of white cardstock (one for the card base and one for the focal image).

3). On the smaller rectangle, stamp the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey as well as the splatter image from Grunge Elements 2 with distress oxide inks and dry with a heat tool.

4). De-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Thoughtful Words with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

5). Mount both panels to a white card base, add the fussy-cut bee image and a few crystal drops to mimic honey.  To finish off the card, use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the bee and honeycomb.

A Mother's Love

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a quick card designed with the new Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps A Mother’s Love Clear Stamp Set from the SNSS April Release and the previously released stamp set, Grunge Elements 2.

A Mother’s Love is such a wonderful set with several silhouette images and sentiments about motherhood- perfect for Mother’s Day as well as for new Moms or just encouragement cards!

For the background, I used a “smooshing” technique that I love to use so I am linking to the AAA Cards #112 “A Favourite Technique” Challenge and am also participating with the CAS on Friday #130 “Mother’s Day” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Pat your ink pad onto a silicone crafting mat (I used Distress Ink), lightly spritz with water, press white cardstock into the ink, lift the panel and re-position in the ink.  Continue to press and lift until you are satisfied with the background.  Dry with a heat tool.

2). De-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, ink the image and sentiment from A Mother’s Love with archival black ink, stamp onto the panel, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

3). Ink the hearts from Grunge Elements 2 with distress ink and stamp onto the panel. Wipe off any excess ink from the images with a paper towel.

4). Die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto black cardstock and adhere to a white card base.

5). Finish off the card with a few sequins.

SC690 The Word of the Lord is True

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the weekly sketch at Splitcoaststampers!  Allison is our #SC690 sketch artist this week and think her sketch is perfect for so many occasions- don't you?

I decided to use bees versus the butterflies in the design and pulled out the several sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps- Sweet As Honey, Grunge Elements 2 and the March Stamp of the Month, Texture Tiles I to create a Mixed Media Shabby Chic card.  I have mentioned before that my hubby and I collect antique honey dishes and one of the requirements is that the dish has to have a bee on it :-)  In real life I am afraid of bees (since I am allergic to their stings), but I do love bee images- go figure :-)

I also love using Scripture on the front of my cards and hope that the recipient can display the card for a longer period of time (if they wish) than just a few weeks for their birthday, etc. and thought that this verse would be one that could be displayed year round:-)

Psalm 19:10 is perfect for memorization and reflection- God’s Word is Truth and is sweeter than honey!!   It is a comfort to know that He will never leave us or forsake us- What a Savior we have in Jesus Christ, our Lord!

Don’t forget- you only have a few more days to be able to receive the March Stamp of the Month, Texture Tiles I free with your net $75 order (US$$- after all other discounts are applied) from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps! I love all four of the texture tiles in this set and the offer is available until March 31st.  Plus with $75 (US order- after all discounts) you will receive free shipping!!

If you have not had a chance to visit the Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch gallery or other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- beautiful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). On a silicone craft mat, press Tim Holtz® Fossilized Amber and Wild Honey Distress Oxide Ink, lightly spritz with water and press a piece of coated white cardstock into the ink.  Dry with a heat tool and continue to add color with additional Distress Oxide Ink as well as Faber-Castell® Gelatos™- Gold Champagne and Iced Coffee (this adds a bit of shimmer).

2).  Ink the honeycomb image from Sweet As Honey with Tim Holtz® Vintage Photo Distress Ink and stamp repeatedly over the panel to create the background.  Add additional shadows with Derwent® Watercolor Pencils (I used Deep Cadmium and Burnt Sienna).  Add additional distressing with the splatter image from Texture Tiles I with Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain Distress Ink along with the large splat image from Grunge Elements 2 using Wild Honey Distress Oxide Ink.  Stamp the script image from Texture Tiles I with Fossilized Amber over the entire panel and heat set with a heat tool.

3). Trim the panel and die cut a rectangle shape from the upper left (you will use this for layer #3 in the sketch).

4). De-static the lower part of the panel with an embossing powder tool, ink the verse from Sweet As Honey with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink (I carefully cut the first line apart from the stamp to use separately), stamp onto the panel and heat set with clear embossing powder.  Once the embossing powder has cooled, layer onto a piece of black cardstock, trim and mount onto a white card base.

5). Layer the die cut rectangle onto a piece of black cardstock, hand tear the bottom edge and use a distressing tool to distress the edge a bit further.  Mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

6). De-static a piece of white and black cardstock with an embossing powder tool.  Stamp three of the bee image from Sweet As Honey with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and the top part of the verse sentiment (that you had cut off in step #4) with Versamark™ ink.  Apply clear embossing powder to the bees and white embossing powder to the sentiment, heat all with a heat tool to melt the embossing powder.

7). Once the embossing powder has cooled, watercolor the bees using Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink and use a slate marker to add shadows to the wings.  Fussy-cut each of the bees and hand trim the sentiment.  Add the bees directly to the rectangle panel and the sentiment with dimensional foam.  Add a bit of shimmer to the bee’s wings with a Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen.

8). Add “drips of honey” with Nuvo™ Limoncello Jewel Drops to finish off the card.

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™, Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide Ink- Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey, Vintage Photo; TH Distress Ink Walnut Stain, Brushed Corduroy; Stampin’ Write Smoky Slate Marker, Faber-Castell® Gelatos™- Gold Champagne and Iced Coffee; Derwent™ Watercolor Pencils- Deep Cadmium, Burnt Sienna, Nuvo™ Limoncello Jewel Drops, Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Happy Together

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a quick Mixed Media card using Happy Together and Grunge Elements 2 from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps

I love the Happy Together stamp set with the different sentiments and sweet silhouette images- perfect for friendship, Valentine’s Day and just overall general encouragement!

Also, don’t forget for every $60 purchase (not including discounts or shipping), you can receive the February stamp of the month- Hoppy Easter- isn’t he cute looking down  at his Easter egg?  Plus, Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps has free shipping and handling on your $75 order (in the US) so this is a great deal!!

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Using distress oxide inks- Broken China and Peacock Feathers, tap the ink onto a silicone craft mat, lightly spritz with water and place a piece of white cardstock into the ink.  Lift up and continue to repeat the process until you are satisfied with the background (drying with a heat tool as you proceed).  Ink the heart image from Grunge Elements 2 with Peacock Feathers distress oxide ink and stamp onto the panel.

2). Once the panel is dry, trim and mount onto a piece of black cardstock.

3).  De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the Happy Together image with archival black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Die cut the panel with a stitched banner die, sponge Broken China and Peacock Feathers distress oxide over the background and add a few hearts with the heart image from Grunge Elements 2.  Mount onto another banner die cut from black cardstock and adhere to the card front with dimensional foam. (FYI- I originally had the black flag below the sentiment and did not like the look so die cut another white flag banner and mounted after the fact- now you know:-)).

4). Using a water brush, apply splatter the background with a bit of Black Soot distress ink.

5). De-static a scrap piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Happy Together with clear embossing ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Hand trim and mount onto the card front.

6). Finish off the card using a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the hearts (hard to see in the photo) and a few Grey Mist Nuvo Jewel Drops.

Hindsight being 20/20, I probably should have used watercolor paper versus plain white cardstock but I need to order a pure white watercolor paper- all I have right now has an ivory tint and I prefer white :-)
