Life is Better with Ice Cream!

Hi Friends!

This morning I am sharing another fun Mixed Media card created with the Artistic Outpost stamp sets, Ice Cream Shoppe, Grunge Elements and the Bottle Caps Background along with the ODBD Pastel 6x6 Paper Pack (all available from Our Daily Bread Designs).

I wanted to play along with the final Mojo Monday #500 Sketch Challenge (so sad to see this challenge ending but fully understand) along with the Tuesday Throwdown #346 “Sugar High” Challenge and the Happy Little Stampers June Mixed Media “Glitter” Challenge (I am honored to be their Guest Designer this month).

I also used the Splitcoaststampers CC638 Color Challenge into the design.  It is hard to see the glitter- I used a Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen for all of the shimmer.

To create this card:

1). Tap the Distress Oxide ink pads (Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint and Wilted Violet) onto a craft mat, spritz with water and lay a piece of watercolor paper into the ink.  Lift up and dry with the heat tool, spritzing additional water as you dry.  Keep repeating until you are satisfied with the results.

2). De-static the panel with an embossing powder tool, stamp the Bottle Caps Background stamp with Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool. 

Add additional distress oxide ink as needed to darken some of the areas and stamp the large splatter image from Grunge Elements with Wilted Violet distress oxide ink. Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of white cardstock, trim again and mount onto a piece of pear cardstock.

3).  On a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” white cardstock,  add a bit of the same distress oxide inks onto the panel, trim and adhere the ¼” lavender and rose satin ribbon (wrapping the ends of the ribbon behind the panel).  Using the dot stencil, add stenciling with the clear glitter pen.  Mount onto the pear card front before adhering to the white card base.

4). Create the vertical panels from pieces of the Pastel 6x6 Paper Pack, mount onto white and pear cardstock.  Add to the card front, popping up the lilac panel with dimensional foam.

5). Stamp the ice cream cones from Ice Cream Shoppe with archival black ink, heat set with the heat tool and watercolor with the distress oxide inks (adding vintage photo for the cone).  Fussy-cut the ice cream cones, mount onto black cardstock and fussy-cut again.  Use the clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the ice cream.

6).  Mount the focal image to the card front with dimensional foam, add the ice cream cones and apply clear shimmer to the bottle caps with the glitter pen.

7).  Stamp the sentiment from Ice Cream Shoppe with archival black ink onto white cardstock, heat set with the heat tool, trim the sentiment, mount onto pear cardstock and add the sentiment to the card front.

8). Finish off the card by adding Nuvo Crystal Jewel Drops to the corners and focal image panel.

Life is Better with Ice Cream!

Hi Friends!

I had a chance to stamp this weekend and create another Mixed Media card using Artistic Outpost stamps- Ice Cream Shoppe, Grunge Elements and Bottle Caps Background along with the ODBD Pierced Rectangles Dies (all available from Our Daily Bread Designs).

 

I incorporated the Hand Stamped Sentiments HSS264 Color Challenge along with the Simon Says Wednesday “A Bit of Sparkle” Challenge and the Happy Little Stampers May "Watercolour" into the design.

If you have not had a chance to check out the Artistic Outpost blog or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so!  Inspiration is posted throughout the week on the AO Blog/ AO Facebook Page and the challenge galleries have fabulous samples as well!

To create this card:

1). Apply Vintage Photo Distress Stain onto a craft mat, spritz with water and lay a piece of white cardstock into the ink. Lift and re-apply the ink, dry with a heat tool and repeat the steps with Pool Party and Watermelon dye based inks.

2).  Ink the large splatter stamp with Vintage Photo Distress Ink, stamp onto the background panel, die cut and emboss the panel with Pierced Rectangles Dies. Mount onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge, mount onto a pool party card base and sponge Vintage Photo Distress Ink along the edges to distress the edges.

3). Ink the Bottle Caps Background stamp with archival black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, heat set with a heat tool before coloring the bottle caps with water based markers- watermelon, pool and peach and a water brush.  Apply microglaze to the bottle caps and once dry, use the same steps above to fill in the background and add splatter.

4). Die cut and emboss the Bottle Caps Background using the Pierced Rectangles Dies, mount onto a black frame (also die cut and embossed with Pierced Rectangles Dies).

5). Ink the gentleman and ice cream cone images from Ice Cream Shoppe with archival black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, heat set the ink with a heat tool and color with water based markers and water color pencils.  Fussy-cut the images, mount onto black cardstock and fussy-cut close to the edge.

6). Mount the fussy-cut images along with the heat embossed sentiment onto the card front using dimensional foam.

7). Use a clear shimmer pen to add a bit of shimmer to the bottle caps and ice cream to finish off the card.

Life is Better with Ice Cream- for sure!

Hi Friends! 

I wanted to play along with a few online challenges and decided to use a few Artistic Outpost (AO) stamp sets from the Spring 2016 Release - Ice Cream Shoppe, Bottle Caps Background and Grunge Elements along with ODBD Tag Trios Dies, Mini Bow Die and Bitty Borders Dies (all AO stamps and ODBD dies from Our Daily Bread Designs).

I have incorporated the Retro Sketches #237 Sketch Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers  ’CC597 "Tempting Red Emerald" Color Challenge into the design.

If you have not had a chance to visit The Artistic Outpost Blog or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- great inspiration from my sister Design Team at the AO Blog as well as from the other challenge DT and galleries!

To create this card:

To create the background panel, ink the AO Bottle Caps Background image with archival black ink and stamp onto white cardstock.

Trim the background panel into three vertical strips (between the bottle caps) and use water based markers in red, emerald green and turquoise to color the bottle caps in the center panel.

Use a water brush with vintage photo distress ink to age the three panels and stamp the large splatter image from AO Grunge Elements with vintage photo distress ink over the three panels as well.

Use a heat tool to dry the ink and apply picket fence distress stain over the two outside panels to tone down the color, layered the center panel onto black cardstock, trim and mount onto white cardstock, trim and mount once more onto black cardstock.

Add the two outside bottle cap vertical panels onto white cardstock, mount the layered center panel per the sketch and adhere the entire panel onto the black card base.

Die cut a tag from white cardstock with the ODBD Tag Trio Dies and also cut the same size die from black cardstock.

Create the background for the tag by repeating the steps above for the outer bottle caps panels and mount the black die cut tag behind the background tag (splitting the black tag in half to frame the background tag).

Die cut three banners for the lower part of the tag with the ODBD Bitty Borders Dies- one from turquoise, one from black and one from bright green cardstock, layering each so a bit of the color will show behind the tag.

Ink the girl image from AO Ice Cream Shoppe with archival black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, watercolor with water based markers, fussy-cut and mount onto black cardstock  (fussy-cut again before adding to the tag).

Mount the entire tag onto the card front with dimensional foam, die cut the bow from bright green cardstock using the ODBD Mini Bow Die, mount onto the top of the tag and add the turquoise button to the center.

Ink the sentiment from AO Ice Cream Shoppe with embossing ink, stamp onto black cardstock, heat emboss with white embossing powder, trim the sentiment by hand once the embossing has cooled and mount onto the tag.  

Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the ice cream cone and colored bottle caps in the background to finish off the card.

Ice Cream Shoppe- Life is Better with Ice Cream!

Hi Friends! 

I hope you are having a great week so far!  I had fun designing this Mixed Media card for this week’s  Splitcoaststampers SC612 Sketch Challenge using the Ice Cream Shoppe along with the Bottle Caps Background from Artistic Outpost by Our Daily Bread Designs.

I decided to pull out my sewing machine and incorporated the TGIF #74 “Sewing & Stitching” Challenge into the design :-)

If you have not had a chance to visit the Artistic Outpost Blog or the SC612 and the #TGIF74 challenge galleries yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Lay the flourish 

stencil over a piece of white cardstock and lightly brush the pale pink distress stain over the stencil, lift and re-position the stencil a bit to the left and apply a pale gray distress ink with the stencil brush.

While the stencil is  still in place, use a clear glitter pen over the entire area.

Distress the edges of the panel as well as the wedge shaped piece of the pink swirl patterned paper from the ODBD Beautiful Boho 6x6 Paper Pad, use a zig-zag stitch to attach the background pieces to the black cardstock panel and mount onto the white card base.

Ink the Bottle Cap Background and the ice cream cones from Ice Cream Shoppe using black archival ink onto white cardstock.

Fussy-cut three bottle caps along with the ice cream cones and layer onto black cardstock (fussy cutting the images again).

Die cut three circles from black cardstock using the ODBD Double Stitched Circle Dies and mount the circles directly onto the card front.

Layer the fussy-cut bottle caps with dimensional foam over the circles, add the looped silver metallic thread and mount the fussy-cut ice cream cones with dimensional foam as well.

Heat emboss the sentiment from Ice Cream Shoppe with white embossing powder, hand trim and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the ice cream as well as the bottle caps to finish off the card.

Life is Better...With Ice Cream!

Happy Saturday!  It is my turn to share on the ArtisticOutpost blog and I wanted to share this fun Mixed Media card with all of you as well!

I designed this card using the Ice Cream Shoppe stamp set from Artistic Outpost by Our Daily Bread Designs.

I wanted to play along with a few of my favorite online challenges so I incorporated the TGIF! #72 Sketch Challenge along with the Hand Stamped Sentiments HSS246 Color Challenge into the design.

To create this card:

Die cut and emboss the light blue piece of paper from the ODBD Boho Bolds Paper Pad with the ODBD Pierced Rectangles Dies and “distress” the die cut with ink using the Smakin’ Acetate Technique (I used a clear envelope, applied ink from water-based markers- Dapper Denim, Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sugarplum, spritzed lightly with water, closed the acetate and” smooshed “ the ink around, re-opened and placed the white light blue die cut into the ink).

Once the ink dries, mount onto a piece of white cardstock, trim close to the edge and adhere to the black card base.

To create the center panel, use the same color markers as above for the Smakin’ Acetate technique with white cardstock.

Once the ink has dried, apply crackle texture paste with a circle stencil (allow the paste to dry), die cut and emboss the panel with the ODBD Pierced Rectangle Dies and mount onto a piece of black cardstock (die cut and embossed with the ODBD Double Stitched Rectangle Dies).

Add the 1” black satin ribbon strip (wrapping the ends of the ribbon behind the panel) and mount the panel onto the card front with dimensional foam.

 Die cut and emboss three circles from the ODBD Boho Bolds Paper Pad for the outer frame with the ODBD Pierced Circle Dies and die cut and emboss white cardstock with the ODBD Circles Dies for the inner circles.

Stamp the Ice Cream Shoppe cone images onto white cardstock with archival black ink, color with the same water-based markers used in the first few steps and apply shimmer with a clear glitter pen.

Fussy-cut the ice cream cone images, mount onto black cardstock and fussy-cut again.

Adhere the three circles to the card front, add the looped silver metallic thread and mount the ice cream cones with dimensional foam.

Finish off the card by stamping the sentiment from the Ice Cream Shoppe onto white cardstock with archival black ink, hand trimming the sentiment and mounting onto black cardstock and adding the sentiment to the card front along with a few silver sequins.
