SC680 A Friend Loveth At All Times

Hi Sweet Friends!

It’s time for the Splitcoaststampers SC680 Sketch Challenge!  Carey designed our sketch this week- so versatile for any occasion! I decided to use Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps  Majestic Monarchs along with Peaceful Peonies.

I also incorporated The Paper Players PP376 "Jaydee's Color Challenge" ( I chose orange as my "other color" :-)) and the Happy Little Stampers January Watercolour “Anything Goes” Challenge into the design.

If you have not had a chance to visit the SCS Sketch Challenge Gallery  , the above challenge sites and/or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Using Distress Oxide Inks, press the ink onto a silicone mat, lightly spritz with water, lay a piece of white cardstock into the ink, lift up off the mat and dry with a heat tool (see the colors I used below).  Repeat the same steps with additional oxide ink until you are satisfied with the background, lightly splatter a bit more water onto the panel, dry again with the heat tool.

2). Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim and mount onto the white card base.

3). De-static another piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the butterfly images from Majestic Monarchs with archival black ink, stamp onto the prepared cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor the butterflies using markers.  After coloring, fussy-cut out each image and mount onto the card front (I used hot glue to attach each butterfly).

4). Ink the sentiment from Peaceful Peonies using Versamark™ ink, stamp onto a scrap piece of black cardstock, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Hand-trim the sentiment and mount to the card front with dimensional foam.

5). Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to all of the butterflies.  Use a water brush with black soot distress ink to add a bit of splatter and grey mist jewel drops for a few embellishments to finish off the card.

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Versamark™; Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide Ink- Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Twisted Citron; Tim Holtz® Black Soot Distress Ink; Stampin’ Write Markers- So Saffron, Pumpkin  Pie, Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Nuvo™ Grey Mist Jewel Drops

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories/Tools: Embossing Buddy®, Clear and White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- hugs and I hope you will be able to join us this week! We would love to see your artwork in the Splitcoaststampers SC680Sketch Gallery!

Love Is Like A Butterfly

Hi Sweet Friends!

Today I am sharing this card on the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps blog and wanted to share it with you as well.  I decided to create a Mixed Media card using Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Butterfly Flourish, Majestic Monarchs, Grunge Elements and Music To My Ears (all were designed by Korin Sutherland).

I used the Mojo Monday #482 Sketch Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers CC587 Color Challenge (from 06/14/16 and I even included the “dessert” of five layers:-)) and the Addicted to Stamps and More #227 Make Your Mark Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to check out the SNSS Blog or SNSS Facebook page yet or the other challenge sites, I highly encourage you to do so!  There is so much inspiration from my DT Sisters on the SNSS Creative Team as well as the challenge galleries- gorgeous creations from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static several pieces of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the SNSS Butterfly Flourish image along with the sentiment and large butterfly from the SNSS Majestic Monarchs clear stamp set with embossing ink, stamp onto the prepared cardstock, apply black embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

2). Once the embossing has cooled, scribble some ink from a water-based marker onto a craft mat and use a water brush to apply the ink over the background to create a wash around the SNSS Butterfly Flourish image, over the SNSS Majestic Monarch sentiment image and over the corner areas of a white cardstock background.

3). Add a bit of distressing with the same color ink as the wash over the background using the large splatter stamp from the SNSS Grunge Elements clear stamp set, sentiment and butterfly panel (I actually cut a small piece of the splatter image to use for smaller splatter images), trim the background and mount onto a piece of black cardstock before adhering to the white card base.

4). Using daffodil and tangerine markers, color the butterflies on the SNSS Butterfly Flourish panel and use a water brush to soften the colors.  Trim the panel (for the vertical element in the sketch), layer onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge and cut the panel in half.
5). Die cut the sentiment panel using a stitched rectangle die, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

6). To create the circle element, ink the SNSS Music To My Ears background stamp with archival black ink, stamp onto a piece of yellow patterned designer paper (I used a retired floral pattern from my stash), use the daffodil marker to add additional color with the water brush, dry with the heat tool and die cut with a large circle die.  Die cut the same size circle from black cardstock, split the black circle in half and mount behind the yellow circle allowing just a bit of the frame to show.  Cut the entire layered circle in half and mount onto the card front.

7). Add the split SNSS Butterfly  Flourish panels with dimensional foam and adhere the SNSS Majestic Monarch sentiment with dimensional foam as well.

8). Color the embossed large butterfly image from SNSS Majestic Monarchs using the daffodil, tangerine and bermuda bay markers (again, using a water brush to soften the edges of the color and blend), fussy cut the image and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam behind the body of the butterfly (I doubled the foam to increase the height).

7). Use a clear shimmer pen to add shimmer to all of the butterfly wings and finish off the card with a few rhinestones.

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!! Hugs and God Bless!

Proverbs 31:30- She Shall Be Praised

Hi Again Friends!

I had a great weekend stamping and wanted to share a Mixed Media Clean and Simple card I designed with Majestic Monarchs and Precious Poppies Clear Stamp sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge galleries yet, I encourage you to do so- it always amazes me how many different cards can be designed with one color, sketch or theme challenge!

To create this card:

Ink the PreciousPoppies Clear Stamp set using Blushing Bride Classic Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock (I cut the clear stamp images apart and used the large flower image along with one from the smaller flower images).

Use an AquaPainter™ to soften the edges and blend the color a bit.

Add the double score lines with the  Simply Scored ™ Scoring Tool (instead of layers for the sketch layout), stamp the sentiment from Precious Poppies using Stampin’ Archival™ Basic Black Ink and heat set with Heat Tool.

Trim the panel, mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhere to the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with an Embossing Buddy®, stamp the butterfly image from Majestic Monarchs Clear Stamp Set using Versamark™ Ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Color the butterfly with Stampin’ Write So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Rose Red markers, softening the edges with an AquaPainter™.

Fussy-cut the butterfly and adhere to the card front (per the sketch- I used hot glue).

Add Clear Wink of Stella® to the flower petals to finish off the card.
