SC685 Welcome Sweet Baby

Hi Friends!

It’s time for the weekly sketch at Splitcoaststampers! 

Carey is our #SC685 sketch designer this week and I decided to create a baby card for my stash using Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

I am also incorporating the International Art & Soul #27 “Use Stuff You Already Own” Challenge (all of the paper and embellishments retired years ago), the Alphabet Challenge “X for Xtra Special Occasion” Challenge and the Retro Rubber #80 “Dotty for You” Challenge (both stamp sets are over a  year old- Little One 2015, Precious Poppies 2013).

If you have not had a chance to visit the Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch gallery or other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool. Ink the carriage image and sentiment from Little One with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink and stamp onto the cardstock.  Apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.

2). Once the embossing has cooled, fussy cut the carriage and die cut the sentiment with a flag banner die.  Use a water-based marker to color the carriage (I also used distress inks and once dry, added picket fence distress stain to tone down the color and finished off with a clear glitter pen).

3). Die cut the designer series paper with a stitched rectangle die and create the little triangle with a stitched strip die (cutting on the diagonal per the sketch).  Mount the designer papers onto a piece of chocolate cardstock and add a scrap strip of chocolate cardstock over the seam before mounting the triangular shape.  

4). De-static the lower right hand corner, stamp the sentiment from Precious Poppies with embossing ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder.  Trim the panel and adhere to the white card base.

5). Die cut white cardstock with a doily die, position as per the sketch and trim off the excess doily (again, per the sketch).  Mount the doily onto the card front and adhere the fussy-cut carriage with dimensional foam.

6). Mount the sentiment onto chocolate cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

7). Create the triple ribbon bow from chocolate satin ribbon, adhere to the card front (I used hot glue) and add the corduroy brad (remove the brad points) to the center.

8). Add pearls to finish off the card.

Proverbs 31:30- She Shall Be Praised

I had a great weekend stamping and wanted to share a Mixed Media Clean and Simple card I designed with Majestic Monarchs and Precious Poppies Clear Stamp sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

I incorporated the CAS Colours and Sketches #176 Challenge along with the CASOLOGY #200 "CAS" Challenge and the Splitcoaststampers’ SC595 Sketch Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge galleries yet, I encourage you to do so- it always amazes me how many different cards can be designed with one color, sketch or theme challenge!

To create this card:

Ink the PreciousPoppies Clear Stamp set using Blushing Bride Classic Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock (I cut the clear stamp images apart and used the large flower image along with one from the smaller flower images).

Use an AquaPainter™ to soften the edges and blend the color a bit.

Add the double score lines with the  Simply Scored ™ Scoring Tool (instead of layers for the sketch layout), stamp the sentiment from Precious Poppies using Stampin’ Archival™ Basic Black Ink and heat set with Heat Tool.

Trim the panel, mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhere to the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock with an Embossing Buddy®, stamp the butterfly image from Majestic Monarchs Clear Stamp Set using Versamark™ Ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Color the butterfly with Stampin’ Write So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Rose Red markers, softening the edges with an AquaPainter™.

Fussy-cut the butterfly and adhere to the card front (per the sketch- I used hot glue).

Add Clear Wink of Stella® to the flower petals to finish off the card.

Choose Faith- Count It All Joy

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Friends!

I wanted to create a card using green for St. Patrick’s Day (after all. I do have Irish in my blood :-)) and decided to give myself a real challenge and create a one layer card.  

That’s right- just fold a piece of cardstock in half and stamp onto the card front for a one layer card.   I know that this should sound easy enough to do but for a gal that loves vintage, shabby, layers, textures and embellishments, it is easier said than done :-)

Shhh...here's a secret- this card also has a sneak peek with the sentiments from the upcoming Creative Worship Choose Faith clear stamp set (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps) :-)  I combined the sentiments from Choose Faith to create the hope, faith, joy along the stems as well as the main sentiment "count it all JOY".  

This is from James 1:2 "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials"...and it continues in verse 3 "knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience"...

Joy in all things is something that I have to continually remind myself as well as remember that the trials are for testing of my faith and helping to produce patience... something that I know I need to work on in my life- how about you?

I am looking forward to the release of the Choose Faith stamp set- I know you will love all of the sentiments and fonts!  It is perfect for Bible Art Journaling as well as card making and I paired it with two other clear stamp sets from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps (SNSS)- Precious Poppies and Grunge Elements.

I found that this month’s One LayerSimplicity “Let Green March In” Challenge to be very inspiring for my one layer card and am also participating in the Splitcoaststampers’ CAS366 “GlitterySentiments” Challenge (hard to see in the photo but the large JOY has Clear Wink of Stella® over the letters) as well as the Two Paper Diva’s March Tic-Tac-Toe Monthly Challenge (Green, Stamps, Flowers).

I hope you will have a chance to check out the galleries at the above challenge sites- tremendous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

See- it really is only one layer :-)

Using a MISTI® tool, position the poppy image from Precious Poppies (I cut this image apart from the largest group of poppies in the set) along with the sentiments and words from Choose Faith, ink with the Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Pad™ and stamp onto retired Naturals White cardstock (I scored the card panel and stamped directly onto the folded card).

Create a mask for the poppy flowers using scrap paper (or sticky note/masking paper) and position over the petals and stems.

Using Sponge Daubers, ink Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi and retired Gumball Green Classic Ink over the Heartwood Stencil by Memory Box®. 

Remove the stencil and the masks, color the stems with the Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write Marker, add dots between the hope, faith and joy sentiment along the stems using a Faber-Castell® Black Bold Pitt Pen marker and color the petals with the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write marker.

Hard to see but the sentiment is glittery :-)

Use an AquaPainter™ to soften the coloring on the petals and add Clear Wink of Stella® to the petals as well as the large “JOY” in the sentiment.

Ink one of the inkblot images from Grunge Elements with Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink and stamp a few times onto the card front to finish off the card.

Quick and easy...I will count it all joy :-) !

HYCCT1518 You Are Precious To Me!

This card was created for the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To  HYCCT1518 Emily’s “Make A Masterpiece” Challenge (to create a card inspired by a famous artist so I chose this Georgia O’Keefe’s Poppy image- see more challenge details here  ).

Since the HYCCT Challenges are for the MD Anderson Cancer Center and October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I decided to make my poppy a bit more pinkish coral than orange :-)

I am also going to link this to the Addicted to Stamps and More!  Anything Goes #166 Challenge.

To create this card:

Using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, stamp the large poppy image from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Precious Poppy onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Color the poppy image with an AquaPainter™ along with various watercolor pencils, Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze Classic Ink, finish off with Frost White Shimmer Paint and “fussy-cut” out the image.

Create a mat for the flower from retired Comfort Café Designer Series Paper (DSP) layered onto Very Vanilla cardstock, trim and layer onto retired Midnight Muse cardstock, trim and layer onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with the My Favorite Things™ (MFT) Stitched Rectangle Die to cut out a large rectangle from Very Vanilla cardstock and the MFT Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banner Die to cut a banner from Midnight Muse cardstock.

Add a piece of ivory crocheted lace to the Midnight Muse banner die cut along with a strip of 5/8” Rust Satin Ribbon (both from my stash).

Mount the Very Vanilla stitched rectangle onto a piece of Midnight Muse cardstock, trim and add the banner layer.

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of retired Comfort Café DSP, mount onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Midnight Muse cardstock, trim and mount onto the Very Vanilla card base.

Add the layered banner panel and mount the floral square with dimensional foam.

Stamp the sentiment from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Precious Poppies with Midnight Muse Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Add the banner points with the Hexagon Punch and mount onto the card front using dimensional foam to finish off the card.
