Nature Silhouettes

Hi Friends!

I am sharing another quick card designed using Distress Oxide inks for the background and heat embossed silhouettes from Creative Worship Stamps (formerly Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps).

I enjoy playing along with online challenges and wanted to play along with The Color Throwdown #829 Challenge as well as the Shopping Our Stash #543 “Think Ink”Challenge and the Word Art Wednesday #691-692 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

All three stamp sets used are several years old and have not been inked in a while.  The Shopping Our Stash Challenge is one that encourages you to use your stash, perfect for my own personal challenge to use what I have.

If you have not had a chance to check out the galleries at the challenge sites yet, I would encourage you to do so- beautiful inspiration from each of the Design Teams as well as the galleries!

To create this card:

Press Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink onto a silicone mat, spritz with water and press a piece of white cardstock into the ink.

Use a heat tool to dry the ink and repeat the process with Broken China and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink, continuing to layer the ink.

Thoroughly dry the ink and use and embossing powder tool to de-static the panel.

Ink the Nature Silhouettes 1 and 2 stamp images with Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamp onto the prepared background, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing powder has dried, die cut the background panel with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Die cut a piece of white cardstock with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto black cardstock and adhere to a white card base.

Ink the script image from Texture Tiles 1 with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink, repeatedly stamp over the white and background panel.

Add white highlights with an extra fine white paint pen to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Nature Silhouettes, Nature Silhouettes 2, Texture Tiles 1 (Creative Worship formerly Sweet ‘n SassyStamps)

Ink: Versafine Black Onyx, Distress Oxide Inks- Broken China, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers; Extra Fine White Paint Pen

Paper/Cardstock: White, Black

Accessories: Big Shot™, MFT Stitched Rectangle A2 STAX Dies Set 1 and 2, Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Thanks again for visiting- hugs and I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Nature Silhouettes- A Masculine Birthday Card

Hello Friends!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday- we are so blessed and are so thankfu!!

We were traveling yesterday to be with family and I did not have access to a computer (I decided to take a day away from electronics)- sometimes you just need a day to unwind... we had a great time along with great food!

Today, I had a chance to create a card using the Retro Sketches#191 Sketch along
Splitcoaststampers’ WT559 “Leftovers” Challenge (use your scraps/leftovers :-)).

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge site galleries yet, again, I would encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Create a mask from sticky note paper or scrap paper using the 1 ¼” Circle Punch and place the mask onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Using Sponge Daubers, apply Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink along with Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry Classic to create the sky.

Remove the mask, de-static the cardstock with the Embossing Buddy®.

Ink the tree image from the retired Stampin’ Up! Nature Silhouettes stamp set using Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Once cooled, repeat the above steps with the deer image.

Trim the stamped panel and mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock (this was from my scraps), trim and mount onto the banner panel (again, this was from my scraps cut with the Jumbo Stitched Fishtail Banner Die from My Favorite Things™).

Emboss a scrap piece of retired Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the retired Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, trim and mount onto a scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock  (lightly sand with the Sanding Block).

Create the background  layer from Pumpkin Pie DSP using the retired Herringbone Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and the corners with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch, layer onto Basic Black cardstock punching the ticket style corners with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch and lightly sand with the Sanding Block.

Add the ribbons to the focal image banner panel (the loops were scrap pieces in my stash) and layer all of the pieces per the sketch.

Stamp the sentiment and create the layered banner with the Hexagon Punch, mount to the card front and add the Pumpkin Pie button to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Nature Silhouettes, Express Yourself (hostess set)- both retired Stampin’ Up!

Ink: Versamark™, Memento™ Tuxedo Black

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, retired Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry DSP

Accessories:  Big Shot™, MFT Jumbo Stitched Fishtail Banner Dies, retired Herringbone and Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing  Folders, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Punches-  1 ¼” Circle, Hexagon; Pumpkin Pie button, ¼” Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon, 3/8” Pumpkin Pie Taffeta Ribbon, Antique Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware Ribbon Slide, Sanding Block

This card will be mailed to my Dad who will be celebrating his 81st Birthday in a few days ( (shh...Aunt Pat- do not spill the beans- lol!)) .  Since he lives so far away, we do not get a chance to see each other that often but I hope he likes this card (it reminds me of the days that he used to hunt- he is quite the outdoorsman) :-)

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!

CAS Sympathy for a Close Friend

Hi Stampers!!

Again, if you have a chance, stop by both sites for wonderful inspiration from their Design Teams as well as the other entries- great job by all!

We needed to send a sympathy card to my husband’s co-worker- his father died unexpectedly and he loved to hunt and fish.  I chose to use the retired set, Nature’s Silhouettes along with a simple embossing and sponging technique.  They are a very close-knit family and our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time of sorrow.

To create this card:

De-static a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Embossing Buddy® and ink the deer image using Versamark™ ink.  Apply Stampin’ Emboss® Early Espresso Embossing Powder and heat with the Heat Tool to melt the powder.  Once cooled, repeat the same steps using the tree image.

Using a mask created with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch, sponge Crumb Cake Classic Ink for the sky area and sponge Soft Suede around the edges.  Trim and mount onto Early Espresso cardstock and adhere the focal image onto a banner created from the retired Well Worn Designer Series Paper (DSP).

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of paper (again from the Well Worn DSP) and a piece of So Saffron cardstock with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.

Layer the banners and add the ½” Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon bow along with sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Nature Silhouettes, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Versamark™, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Soft Suede

Paper: Early Espresso, So Saffron, Whisper White, Well Worn DSP

AccessoriesEmbossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss® Early Espresso Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Big Shot™, Woodgrain and Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Punches- 1 1/4” Circle, Word Window, ½” Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon, Sponge Daubers, Sanding Block

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope you have a wonderful Friday!!

Manly Fall Birthday

Hi Stampers!

I needed to create a more masculine Fall Birthday card and the FM25 Sketch It Square and Manly Friday MashUp Challenge was a perfect one to motivate me to do so!  If you have the time and haven’t visited with them yet this week, they have some great ideas for masculine cards using this
sketch:-)

Since I had my embossing gun out for a previous card, I decided to use heat embossing on this card as well along with the colors from the previous Splitcoast CC339 Challenge(Always So Crazed)- love this combination for fall cards!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ and emboss a piece of Always Artichoke with the Herringbone and Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders (I embossed two separate pieces).  Layer onto So Saffon cardstock and adhere the satin ribbon to hide the pieced edge.

Use the Big Shot™ with the 3 ½” Circle Originals™ Die to cut a circle from Very Vanilla cardstock.  De-static the cardstock with the Embossing Buddy® , stamp the deer image and leaves from the tree around the edge of the circle with Versamark™ ink, apply the Stampin’ Emboss® Gold Powder and emboss with the Heat Tool.

Follow the same steps as above for the individual larger leaves from French Foliage.  Carefully cut around the embossing and adhere to the edge of the stamped circle image.  Attach the brad and mount the focal image onto the card front.

Adhere the sentiment (I kept this simple so it would not compete with the embossed image) and layer the entire card front onto Cajun Craze and again onto So Saffron.

Stamp Sets:  Nature Silhouettes, French Foliage, Sincere Salutations
 Ink: Versamark™, Cajun Craze
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, So Saffron, Cajun Craze
Accessories:  Big Shot™, Herringbone and Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, 3 ½” Circle Originals™ Die, Embossing Buddy®, Stampin’ Emboss®  Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Antique Brad, 2 ½’ Circle Punch, 5/8” Satin Ribbon (from my stash)

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope all of you have a wonderful week stamping and creating!

With Sympathy- Nature Silhouettes

Hi Stampers!

I needed to create a sympathy card for close friends of ours.    I decided to use the colors from this week’s ColourQ Challenge #CQC60 (http://colourq.blogspot.com ) along with the sketch from this week’s Paper Players PP25 Challenge (http://www.thepaperplayers.blogspot.com ).  When you get a chance, check out their sites to see the wonderful samples created by the Design Teams and the other entries.

To create this card:

Using the masking technique, mask off the moon/sun area and apply More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler to the sky area with Sponge Daubers.  Apply Soft Suede to the ground area and de-static the card with the Embossing Buddy.

Ink the tree stamp from Nature Silhouettes first in Versamark, then with Early Espresso- stamp onto the inked piece of Very Vanilla create in the above step.  Heat emboss with Clear Embossing Powder (EP)- allow this to cool for a few minutes, de-static the card again and using the same steps, stamp and emboss the deer image.

Line up the 2½” XL Circle Punch and punch out the image (or use a Circle Cutter).  Layer the stamped image onto Soft Suede and Very Vanilla circles.  Sponge the edges of the Very Vanilla circle with Early Espresso.
Using the Rock-n-Roll technique, stamp the leaves from French Foliage in More Mustard, Soft Suede and Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Trim close to the edges and sponge with Early Espresso.

Using the Tearing Edge, tear a piece of More Mustard Designer Series Paper (from a retired hostess pack) and distress the paper by scrunching, crumpling and sponging with Early Espresso ink.

Attach this to an embossed piece of Soft Suede.  Stamp the sentiment and use the Curly XL Punch.  Attach this to the card and layer 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon over the seam.  Attach the previously stamped leaves and use a Vintage Brad to cover the center of the leaves.

Spritz the entire card with the Color Spritzer Tool and a Soft Sueded SU! Marker.

Stamp Sets:  Nature Silhouettes, French Foliage, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Early Espresso, More Mustard DSP (retired hostess pack)
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Soft Suede, Versamark
Accessories: Big Shot, Finial Press EF, Circle Scissors Plus, 2 ½” XL Circle and Curly Label XL Punch, Embossing Buddy, Heat Gun, Clear EP, Sponge Daubers, SU! Soft Suede Marker, Color Spritzer Tool, Tearing Edge, Vintage Brad, 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon.

Thanks again for visiting - I hope all of you have a Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless!
