HYCCT1403 Log Cabin Quilt with a Cute Cat

Hi Again Stampers!

This card for another entry in the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling ToChallenge (HYCCT) to promote Breast Cancer Awareness and create cards to encourage those with cancer and their families.

This card was created for Holly aka hbrown’s HYCCT1403 “Stripping Down” Challenge- (see the gallery here and the details here).

I hope you will find the time to check out the links above and see all of the wonderful samples – again, so much inspiration!

To create this card:

Create the log cabin quilt design using Designer Series Paper (DSP) Strips from retired Night and Day DSP along with retired Blushing Bride DSP (I googled “Log Cabin Quilt Patterns” online and modified to create a 4”x4” square).

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the quilt panel.

Trim the quilt panel to "square up" and mount onto Basic Black cardstock, trim again and mount onto Blushing Bride DSP, trim and mpount onto Basic Black cardstock.

Add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Triple Ribbon bow to the corner and mount the entire panel onto the Blushing Bride card front.

Stamp the sentiment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink at the bottom of the card front- add a few Pearls along with the die cut cat to finish off the card (you know me, I have to have a cat :-))
My sweet Angel :-)

Here is one of my helpers this weekend- she stays right by my side at all times and doesn't she have the cutest paws with her mitten feet- I love her so much!

You Make Me Happy :-)

Good Morning Stampers!!

One more card to share from this past week and this is another Clean and Simple (CAS)card created for The Card Concepts #8- Use an Umbrella and decided to go with a monochromatic color scheme since it reminds me of rain :-)

Again, I hope you will have a chance to stop by to visit TheCard Concept site to check out all of the wonderful Design Team samples and entries!

To create this card:

I already had My Digital Studio (MDS) open for the previous card so I decided to use the retired stamp set, Rain or Shine (still available in MDS and on the clearance rack in wood mount) along with the retired Sale-A-Bration (SAB) set, See Ya Later (again in the digital version).

I modified the sentiment a bit to hide the sun at the top and re-sized both images before I printed onto Whisper White cardstock.

Add a piece of retired Night and Day Designer Series Paper (DSP) onto the Basic Black card base.

Adhere the scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock onto the card front and add the trimmed focal image.

Add a few Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Rain or Shine, See Ya Later SAB (MDS versions)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Night and Day DSP

Accessories: Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to visiting- have a wonderful week!

You Are One of A Kind- Two CAS Challenges in One!!

Hi Again Stampers!!

I decided to participate in a few more challenges this weekend- the CAS Colours and Sketches #70 along with the CASology #90- Note.

I struggle with the CAS (Clean and Simple) Sytle and this may not be CAS enough for the challenges,  but for me, it is clean and simple :-)  Again, I hope you will have a chance to stop by to visit all of the challenge sites to see the wonderful Design Team samples and entries!

To create this card:

Since Basic Black was one of the challenge colors, I decided to use My Digital Studio (MDS) to print out the background, the oval and sentiment (all pieces were re-sized before saving and printing).

Color the background using Stampin’ Write Markers in Basic Gray and Smoky Slate, trim and mount onto Basic Black cardstock.  Add the punched/crimped border pieces of Basic Black and Whisper White along the bottom and adhere the 5/8” retired Basic Black Satin double ribbon bow and strip at the top.

Punch out the sentiment using the XL Oval Punch and adhere to two ovals punched with the same punch (overlap the two black ovals to create a frame behind the sentiment).  Add the sentiment to the ribbon strip along the top of the panel and adhere a small Pearl to the little flower at the bottom.

Alternate the strips of the retired Night and Day Designer Series Paper (DSP) onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhere the focal image panel to the pieced DSP panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Adhere another piece of the Night and Day DSP to the Basic Black card base and add the entire panel to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp Sets: Notably Ornate, One of A Kind, Presto Patterns Overlay (MDS versions)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Basic Gray, Smoky Slate

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Night and Day DSP

Accessories: XL Oval Punch, retired 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Pearl, EK Success Border Punch (non SU!)

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope all of you have a great week!

Thanks for Caring- An Inspirational Photo and Sketch Challenge

Hi Stampers!!

I had a great day relaxing yesterday and hope all of you had a wonderful weekend as well!  I just love this week’s Stampin’ Royalty’sSR199 Inspiration Photo- the neutral color palette as well as the checks and polka dots!  When I look at this photo, I can just imagine the crisp autumn days in preparation for the holidays ahead.

Now, I have a confession :-) I have been a SU! Demonstrator for 14 years now and have not sold any of my retired sets- I love them so much!  Not to mention Designer Series papers, the patterned papers prior to the double-sided DSP that we now offer, watercolor pencils, pastels, wheels, retired inks and cardstock, you name it, I love it and have kept it all of these years!

The problem is that my craft room is so crowded that I need to start using up some of the older supplies.   When I saw this photo, it reminded me of the really old retired background papers (prior to even being called Designer Paper) and I knew I had numerous My Digital Studio (MDS) images ready to go on Very Vanilla cardstock as well as Whisper White (again, printed from previous projects to “fill” up the page and pre-cut with dies and or punches), so I decided for this challenge, I would limit my supplies.

I pulled out those old background papers that had checkerboard and polka dot patterns and the MDS images along with some other retired DSP, ribbon and misc. supplies from my massive "stash" :-).

This was actually liberating as I limited myself to create with scraps, previously cut and embossed pieces of cardstock and the above items.

I had so much fun that I created six different designs that were all inspired by the SR199 Stampin’ RoyaltyInspiration Photo (thanks SR Design Team) as well as a few other sketch/theme challenges- I will be creating separate posts for each card:-)

The first card based on the SR199 Inspiration photo utilizes the CAS(E) This Sketch#51 Challenge and was very quick and easy to make.

To create this CAS card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock and layer this onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Add the retired Night and Day herringbone paper DSP to the top of the card front, add the gray lace along with the black satin ribbon bow (misc. supplies from my "stash").

Attach the My Digital Studio (MDS) sentiment from Thanks for Caring (re-sized, printed onto Whisper White cardstock, punched out with the XL Oval Punch and layered onto two additional XL Ovals punched from Basic Black cardstock).

Add a few Pearls to the top right hand corner to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Thanks for Caring (MDS)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Night and Day DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™,  Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder,  XL Oval Punch,  Pearls, Lace and Satin Ribbon (from my stash)

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous Monday!

If interested, as I create the other posts for the additional five cards, I will be add the "links" to this post for those cards...so stay tuned -).
