Shine On! Hope You Can Cling To along with Two Other Challenges :-)

Hi Stampers!

For the entire month of October, Splitcoaststampers has been hosting the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge (HYCCT) to promote Breast Cancer Awareness and create cards to encourage those with cancer and their families.  

This card was created for the Stamp_Momma aka Lori’s HYCCT1401B Challenge- “Shine On” (see the gallery here and the details here) along with the CQC265 ColourQ Challenge and the HSSC197 Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge.

To create this card:

Cut various strips of Designer Series Paper (DSP)- I used retired Concord Crush from a Hostess Level I pack along with retired Sycamore Street DSP and Tangerine Tango DSP. 

Mount the strips onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, add the 5/8” Basic Black Triple Satin Ribbon Bow and mount onto the Tangerine Tango card front.

Stamp the image from the retired 2004 set, Furnished with Love using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Color the image using Stampin’ Write Markers- Lucky Limeade, Concord Crush and Crushed Curry.  Add a highlight on the lamp using the White Gel Pen.

Cut the triangular panel for the sketch and mount onto a triangular piece of Basic Black cardstock. 

Add the triangular panel to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, punch out using the 1” Circle Punch, mount onto another circle of Basic Black cardstock punched with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch and add to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®. 

Add a few Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Ink:  Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink; Stampin’ Write Markers- Concord Crush, Crushed Curry, Lucky Limeade; White Gel Pen

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Concord Crush, Tangerine Tango and Sycamore Street DSP  

                          

Accessories: Punches- 1” and 1 ¼” Circle, Rhinestones

Let Us Rejoice- More Roses for Two Challenges :-)

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create a few cards for this week’s Fusion #2 Card Challenge- I just love the inspiration photo as well as their sketch and for this first card, decided to use the new Spiral Floral Die along with a few more rolled roses (hope you are not getting tired of the roses yet :-)).    I used the colors from the photo and followed the sketch (although a bit loosely) and since this card has texture, it also qualifies as my second entry into the Card Concept#2Challenge (not sure if this would be considered Clean and Layered or Classy and Elegant) :-)). 

If you have not had the time to stop by either site yet, I would encourage you to do so—both challenge sites have a very talented Design Teams and many entries for their challenges!  Just another example of how you can interpret a sketch and photo inspiration so differently not to mention the theme of texture....

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Cut into half and mount onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.

Adhere the horizontal strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP) to a piece of Basic Gray cardstock- I used a piece of retired Sycamore Street DSP and added scrap strips of Basic Gray cardstock to the top and bottom (to give the illusion of being mounted onto a whole piece of Basic Gray cardstock- love my scraps!)

Stamp the sentiment using Basic Black Classic Ink (this sentiment is from the retired set- Say It With Scriptures) and cut out using the Big Shot™ with the Window Frames Collection Framelits™.  Cut an additional frame from the same size framelit™ and mount behind the sentiment (split the frame in half vertically and mount- the flowers and leaves will hide the small gap).

Add the double satin ribbon bow (ribbon from my stash) to the card and adhere the DSP panel under the sentiment.

To create the roses:

The large yellow rose was created from Crushed Curry cardstock using the Big Shot™ and the new Spiral Floral Originals™ Die.  After cutting the floral spiral with the die, use the Crimper Tool to crimp (run through the Crimper Tool twice) and roll up starting from the outside.  Adhere the bottom portion to hold the flower shape in place using a Hot Glue Gun.

The medium size roses were created with the 2 3/8” Scallop Circle-punch two form Basic Gray cardstock and one from Crushed Curry cardstock.  Starting on the outside, cut a wavy spiral towards the center, crimp twice with the retired Crimping Tool and start to roll up from the outside edge toward the center.  Again, hold in place using the Hot Glue Gun or Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive. 

Take the same steps as above for the smallest rose, use the 1 ¾” Scallop Circle Punch to punch out one scallop circle from Whisper White cardstock and use the same instructions above for completing the rose.  If needed, here is a basic written tutorial at Splitcoaststampers for the rolled roses.

Use the Bird Builder Punch to punch out the leaves from Basic Gray cardstock.  Adhere the roses and leaves to the sentiment panel using either a Hot Glue Gun and/or Mini Glue Dots (or Tombow Multi-Purpose).

Paper/Cardstock:  Basic Gray, Crushed Curry, Whisper White, retired Sycamore Street DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Window Frame Collection Framelits™, Punches- 2 3/8”, 1 ¾”, 1 ¼” Scallop Circle, Bird Builder;  Satin Ribbon (from my stash), Hot Glue Gun (optional)

Just a note- the flowers on this card are very dimensional so I would definitely recommend either hand delivery or mailing in a small box (or one of our Wood Mount cases).

Thank You for a Great Friend- Mixing Old and New!

Hi Stampers!!

This week has been hectic (as usual) but I needed to create a few cards for family and a dear friend.

I decided to use the bright cheerful colors of this week’s CQC172 ColourQ Challenge along with the Freshly Made FMS69 sketch to create a fun thank you card for a great friend of mine who loves pink and “cute” cards.

I know I have said it many times, but it is truly amazing how so many artists can use  one color combination (and/or a sketch)  and interpret it in so many different ways.  If you have not had a chance to stop by the ColourQ or the Freshly Made Sketches site yet, check them out and you will see so many different cards and samples -they are fabulous!!

This card is very easy Clean and Simple (CAS) card to create (a few punches, embossing and only one stamp):

Cut a piece of Summer Starfruit cardstock on the diagonal and emboss using the Big Shot™ and the Sale-A-Bration (SAB) Vine Street Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Also emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the new Needlepoint Border (cross-stitch) Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Trim a bit off the ends of the Summer Starfruit layer and adhere to the Whisper White layer per the sketch.

Add a strip of Basic Gray Designer Series Paper (DSP) – again trimming the edges to the angle needed to match the diagonal layer.

Use the 1” Circle Punch to cut the Summer Starfruit “medallions” from the Sycamore Street DSP (another SAB item) and mount onto 1 ¼” Circles punched from Basic Gray and 1 3/8” Circles punched from Poppy Parade cardstock.

Use the 1 ¾” Scallop Circle Punch and the Blossom Punch to punch out flowers from Melon Mambo cardstock – add the round “centers” created in the step above and add to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment and add pearls to finish off the card.

Ink: Poppy Parade (retired)

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Gray, Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Scyamore Street DSP (SAB 2013), Basic Gray DSP (retired Hostess Level I Pack)

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Vine Street and Needlepoint Border (cross-stitch) Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders,  Punches-Circle- 1”, 1 ¼”, 1 3/8”, 1 ¾” Scallop Circle, Blossom, Pearls
