Clean and Simple- Love the Lord Your God

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing another Clean and Simple (CAS) black and white card using stamps and paper available from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store!

As many of you know, I enjoy participating in online challenges and will be playing along with the Stamping Sensations January “Fav Stamps” Challenge along with the Simon Says Wednesday “Anything Goes” Challenge and the Use Your Stuff #414 “Out with the Old” Challenge.

I love the stamp sets from Stamp Simply and they are some of my favorite stamps.  I have not had a chance to use the background die and/or the verse image that I chose for this card, but I have owned them for a while now.

Plus, the snippet of collage paper was a piece left over from a few cards that I created earlier this month (I have also owned this paper for years and it is the first time I used it).  I absolutely love the black and white design as well as the designs in the rest of the bundle (available at Stamp Simply).

If you have not had time to check out the Stamp Simply blog or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Die cut a piece of 4” x 5 ¼” with the Tim Holtz Mixed Media 2 die (rose pattern) and mount onto a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” black cardstock.

Cut a piece of the Botanical Collage paper to approx. 2 ¼ ” x 4”, adhere to bottom of the panel.

Here are the four different collage patterns in the bundle

Adhere a piece of
black satin ribbon to the card front, wrapping the ends of the ribbon behind the panel.

Mount the entire panel onto the front of a white card base.

Use an embossing powder tool to prepare a piece of white cardstock for heat embossing.

Stamp the sentiment from Love Sentiments  using Versafine Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of black cardstock (trimming close to the edge).  Adhere to the card front with dimensional foam (or chipboard).

Add a few black rhinestones to finish off the card.

Quick and simple plus easy to mail)!

Stamps: Love Sentiments  (Stamp Simply)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine Onyx Black

Cardstock/Paper: White, Black ; Tim Holtz Idea-ology Collage Paper Tube- Botanical

Accessories/Tools:  Gemini. Jr., Tim Holtz Mixed Media #2 Dies, Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Black Satin Ribbon, Black Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a fabulous weekend!

FYI- We are anticipating a major snowstorm tomorrow and Monday. If you are in the path of the storm, stay safe and warm, sweet friends- hugs!

Clean and Simple Prayers

Hi Friends!

This week we are featuring Clean and Simple (CAS) cards in black and white on the Stamp Simply blog!

This card was easy to create using the TimHoltz Botanical Collage Paper for the background and it was paired with a simple heat embossed sentiment from the Stamp Simply Typewritten Just Checking In stamp set (I am also sharing another black and white CAS card today in this post).

I may have to create a few more cards like this, since unfortunately, several of my Christmas cards did not make it to the recipients as intended (they received just the front of the envelope).  I had placed additional postage as well as non-metered mail stamps on most of the cards, but they still did not make it through intact.

In the past, I was able to hand-deliver my Christmas cards to most of the recipients, but with the virus, this year I mailed over 150.  I am concerned now that some did not receive their cards at all, so this year, I may have to go CAS (which is not my normal design style).

I am participating with the Word Art Wednesday #473-#474 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to check out the Stamp Simply blog or the Word Art Wednesday challenge site yet, I hope you will do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Cut a piece of the Botanical Collage paper to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”, adhere to a piece of white cardstock.  Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of black cardstock.

Adhere a piece of black satin ribbon to the card front, wrapping the ends of the ribbon behind the panel.

Mount the entire panel onto the front of a white card base.

Use an embossing powder tool to prepare a piece of white cardstock for heat embossing.

Stamp the sentiment from Typewritten Just Checking In using Versafine Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, die cut the sentiment with the Fishtail Sentiment Banners Dies and adhere to the ribbon.

Add a few black rhinestones to finish off the card.

Quick and simple (and easy to mail)!

Beauty is God's Handwriting

Hi Friends!

I am still making an effort to create cards using some of my older stamp sets.

This Clean and Simple card combines three retired Stampin’ Up! sets- Natural Beauty, God’s Beauty and Botanicals.

This card was quick and easy to create- I heat embossed the butterfly image with clear embossing powder onto a white cardstock panel and once cooled, masked the image before stamping the text image and sentiment using water-based markers.  A water brush was used to blend a bit of the color and I used the remaining ink off the silicone mat to create a bit of splatter.

The text image was used on the base and the main image panel was mounted with dimensional foam.

I finished off the card using a clear glitter pen and white gel pen.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the above challenge sites, I encourage you to do so- fabulous galleries and inspiration from all!

Stamp Sets: Nature’s Beauty, God’s Beauty and Botanicals (all retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black,  Stampin’ Write Markers- Crushed Curry, Elegant Eggplant and Highland Heather; White Gel Pen, Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Designer Paper: Whisper White

Accessories: Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, AquaPainter™

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- hugs and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Natural Beauty- Dream One Layer Card

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a great week so far!  My hubby, Dave is doing better with each passing day as we are getting used to his new “normal”.

I have been creating over the summer but have not had a chance to post many of the cards to my blog or other galleries (many of you have blogs and know the time that it takes photograph, edit and write up the blog posts).

With my limited creative time due to taking care of the household chores that my hubby normally handles, etc. :-) I am going to post the cards in the future without the detailed step by step instructions but an overview of how they were created.  If you have any questions on a particular card, and/or technique, please feel free to ask.

I am linking this card to several online challenges- AAA #142 “Along the Edge” with optional twist of “Inspired by a Song” ( I think of the song that has the lyrics “Dream, Dream, Dream” when I see this image), the Simon Says Wednesday “Clean and Simple” Challenge , the Addicted to CAS #166 "One Layer Card" Challenge and the 2 Crafty Critters Crazies  “Anything Goes with Critters”Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the above challenge sites, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

This card is a one-layer card designed with an older Stampin’ Up! stamp set, Natural  Beauty.

The white cardstock card base was folded in half and I used a scrap piece of paper to create a mask for the border along the right side.  I repeatedly stamped the word image along the edge with Versamark™ Onyx Black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

The little bird was also heat embossed with clear embossing powder and I used several Distress Oxide inks to blend color over the edge (see colors below)

I finished off the card using a black marker to create a thick line along the border edge (this covered up a bit of the uneven ink and straighten up the edge).

Stamp Sets: Natural Beauty (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black,  Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide- Broken China, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Faber-Castell™ Black Pitt Pen Marker

Cardstock/Designer Paper: Whisper White

Accessories: Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Sponge Dauber

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- hugs and I hope you can stop by again soon!

He Is Risen #3

Hi Friends!

This is another Easter card that I designed using the cross image from the retired Easter Morn stamp set (Stampin’ Up!).

I chose this image since it reflects the true meaning of Easter.   "Believe on the Lord, Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" Acts 16:31a.  I am so thankful that I accepted Christ as my Savior in 1996 and know that I will spend eternity with Him in Heaven.  Alleluia- What a Savior!!

I have created several different card designs with the same main cross image.  I will be posting them throughout the week and if you are interested, here are the other posts so far-

I decided to create a Clean and Simple (CAS) mixed media card for the Less Is More #393 "Subtle Colours" Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge galleries yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing tool, stamp the cross image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

2). Once the embossing has cooled, color the cross image using water-based markers.  Fussy-cut the image and set aside.  (FYI- I stamped nine images on a piece of 8 ½” x 11” white cardstock, stamped and embossed the images before using the Brother Scan-n-Cut to cut out the images.)

3). Fold a piece of 4 ¼” x 11” piece of white cardstock in half for the card base.  Use a score board to score lines on the front of the card panel at 1 ¼”, 1 ⅜”, 3 ⅛ “ and 3 ¼”.  It is a bit difficult to see the score lines in the photo but they are there :-)

4). Mount the cross image using dimensional foam.

5).  To finish off the card- use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the petals, cross and dove.  Add white highlights to the flower centers with a white paint pen.
Stamp Sets: Easter Morn (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, Coastal Cabana, Gable Green; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Sharpie™ Extra Fine White Paint Pen

Paper: Whisper White

Accessories: Embossing Buddy®, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool , Scoring Tool, Scoring Board, AquaPainter™

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by!!   Hugs and I hope you can visit again soon!

Yuletide Deer

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful week so far! I am still making Christmas cards and wanted to create a card for the November 2017 STAMPlorations™ Theme and Sketch Challenge.

This Clean and Simple (CAS) Mixed Media card was designed with a new to me stamp set, STAMPlorations™ Yuletide Deer.  I love the images in this set and decided to use the deer with the patterns:-)

If you have not had a chance to check out the challenge sites yet, I hope you will take the time to do so- gorgeous inspiration from the Design Teams as well as their galleries!

To create this card:

1). Using a craft mat, apply a bit of hickory smoke and festive berries distress ink, spritz lightly with water and press a piece of white cardstock into the ink to create a splatter effect.  Dry the panel with a heat tool and die cut with a rectangular cross-stitch die.

2). De-static the die cut panel with an embossing powder tool, ink the Yuletide Deer image with archival ink (I used Versafine™ Onyx Black), apply silver embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool.  Once the embossing has cooled, color the image with a red and slate marker and add a bit of shimmer with a clear glitter pen.

3). Mount the entire panel onto a piece of slate cardstock, trim close to the edge and mount onto a piece of red cardstock.  Adhere the entire card front to a white card base.

4). Stamp the sentiment with archival black ink onto a piece of slate cardstock, create the fishtail banner and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam.

5). Add a few red and silver drops along with the rhinestones on the sentiment to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Yuletide Deer (STAMPlorations™)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Distress Ink- Festive Berries., Hickory Smoke, Stampin’ Write Markers- retired Poppy Parade, Smoky Slate; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Nuvo™ Festive Berries and Silver Crystal Drops

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Real Red (SU!)

Accessories: Big Shot™, Cross Stitch Rectangle Dies (Gina Marie), Rhinestones

Thanks again for visiting- I hope all of you have a very blessed Thanksgiving week!

CTS236 Hello

Hi Friends!

Woohoo, I am so excited! This week I have been invited to be the Guest Designer for the CAS(E) This Sketch #236 Challenge!

I absolutely love participating in the CAS(E)This Sketch Challenges and am still working on my Clean and Simple style (a difficult one for me:-)) so I am very honored to have been asked to Guest Design this week- thanks Chrissy!

I decided to pull out some “new to me” stamps from Hero Arts (I have owned them for over a year but have not inked them up yet- yikes!!) and incorporated a background created with the new Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide Inks along with a bit of die cutting and heat embossing.

If you have not had a chance to check out the CAS(E) This Sketch or the other  challenge sites yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- as always, wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). On a craft mat, press the Distress Oxide Ink pad to put a bit of ink onto the mat, lightly spritz with water, lay a piece of white cardstock into the ink, lift up, re-position into the ink again and heat set with the heat tool.  Using a water spritzer, add a few drops of water to finish up the background panel.

FYI- I have some misc. coated white paper that I received from my previous employer (not sure of the manufacturer) but Ranger Specialty Paper or Glossy Paper would work well.  I also used several colors of the Distress Oxide Inks for this background (Fozzilized Amber, Broken China and Peeled Paint) continuing to build up the color until I was satisfied.

2). Once the panel has thoroughly dried, use an embossing powder tool to de-static the paper, ink the leaf image from the Hero Arts Stamp Your Own Plant clear stamp set with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, stamp onto the background panel, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the heat tool. Repeat the process for another stem (stamping a bit lower on the panel). Once the embossing powder has cooled, ink the same leaf image with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and stamp repeatedly over the panel. Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of black cardstock (this piece was from my stash and already die cut with a stitched rectangle die).

3). Trim a piece of white cardstock, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and adhere to the white card base.  Add the embossed leaf panel directly to the card front (per the sketch).

4). Trim a piece of black cardstock, add a strip of white cardstock in the center and apply a clear glitter pen over the entire piece.  Set aside to dry.

The glitter strip and sentiment circle are
very sparkly and hard to photograph :-)
5). Use the Hero Arts “Hello” die from the Hello Stamp and Cuts® set to die cut three “hello” sentiments from white cardstock.  Layer the three dies together and mount onto a circle die cut from black cardstock.  Use the clear glitter pen over the “Hello” die as well as the circle.

6). Use dimensional foam to add the black cardstock strip along with the circle sentiment layer to the card front.

7). Finish off the card by adding a few drops of Tonic Nuvo™ Key Lime Jewel Drops.

Stamp Sets: Stamp Your Own Plant, Hello Stamp and Cut® (both Hero Arts)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black; Tim Holtz® Distress Oxide- Fossilized Amber, Broken China, Peeled Paint; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen, Tonic Nuvo™ Key Lime Jewel Drops

Paper: Misc. White (coated paper), Basic Black, Whisper White (Stampin’ Up!)

Accessories/Tools: Big Shot™, Hello Die Cut (Hero Arts- part of Hello Stamps and Cut® ), Stitched Rectangle STAX Die (My Favorite Things™), Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a great week!

Merry Christmas Star

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful week so far!  It’s time for the new Splitcoaststampers’ SC621Sketch Challenge and I just love the sketch that Diane designed for us this week!

I decided to create a Clean and Simple (CAS) Christmas card with the retired Stampin’ Up! Christmas Star (Holiday Single) stamp along with a sentiment from the retired Contempo stamp set.

I am also linking this card to the Hand Stamped Sentiments HSS252 Inspiration Challenge (I was inspired by the reds and greens as well as the white) along with the Time Out #71 “Christmas with an Optional Twist of Glitter/Shimmer” Challenge.

If you have not already visited the above challenge sites yet, I hope you will have a chance to do so- fabulous inspiration from my DT Sisters at the SCS Sketch Gallery as well as the other challenge sites!

To create this card:

Using Stampin’ Write Markers (Cherry Cobbler and Always Artichoke), color the retired Stampin’ Up! Christmas Star image, “huff” onto the ink to re-moisten and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Fussy-cut the image and use the Simply Scored™ Tool to score all of the lines.  Fold the score lines to create the dimension and use a foam brush to apply ModPodge® to the image (be careful not to press too hard since the ink will start to run together and set it aside to dry).  FYI- I like to apply ModPodge® at times to images to give them more stability and it does have shimmer :-).

Use the Simply Scored™ Tool to add scoring to create the “side panel” elements of the sketch, trim the panel, mount onto Always Artichoke cardstock, trim again and mount onto Cherry Cobbler Cardstock.

Use Clear Wink of Stella® to add shimmer to the scored areas (difficult to see in the photo).

Use the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker Ink to ink the sentiment from the retired Contempo Christmas stamp set and stamp onto the card front.

Mount the entire card front onto the white card base, add the looped retired Silver Cord and mount the Christmas Star image with dimensional foam.

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Star,  Contempo Christmas (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Medium: Stampin’ Write Markers- Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler; Clear Wink of Stella®; ModPodge®

Cardstock/Designer Paper:  Whisper White, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler

Accessories/Tools:  Simply Scored Tool™, retired Silver Cord

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you can gather your supplies and join us for the SC621 Sketch Challenge at Splitcoaststampers this week!
