Stamp Simply June 2024 Release- Patriotic Background

Hi Friends!

Today, I am sharing another card designed using the brand new release stamp set, Patriotic Background along with Patriotic Sentiments, both from Stamp Simply

As I mentioned in previous posts, I love all of the patriotic stamp sets from Stamp Simply and both of these stamp sets work so well together!

This card was very easy to create and would be perfect for making multiples plus, it is relatively flat for mailing.

To create this card:

For the card front,  ink the Patriotic Background stamp using Versafine Black Onyx ink and stamp onto kraft cardstock.

Stamp the “Happy Independence Day” sentiment from Patriotic Sentiments using Versafine Black Onyx ink.

Color the background stamp images with colored pencils.

Once you are satisfied with the coloring, trim close to the edge of the background perimeter and carefully cut along the lower edge of the shield (just above the bottom layer of stars).

Set the upper layer with the shield aside.

Add a strip of white crochet lace on top of the lower star layer and layer a strip of red seam binding over the top of the lace (wrapping the ends of the seam binding behind the lower star panel).

Adhere the above layered star panel directly onto another piece of kraft cardstock (approx. 3 ¾” x 5 ¼”).

Distress the edges of the kraft panel with a distressing tool (or edge of your scissors) and add Vintage Tea Distress Ink to “antique the paper).

Mount the panel onto a piece of navy cardstock (approx. 4 ⅛” x 5 ¼”)  and adhere to a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” top fold white card base.

Add a strip of the star patterned designer paper on the inside left hand part of the card base.

Adhere the top portion of the Patriotic Background shield and star image with dimensional foam onto the card front (layering just over the red eam binding) to finish off the card.

If you have not had a chance to check out the rest of my Sister Design Team cards on the Stamp Simply blog, I hope you take the time to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!!

Stamp Simply June 2024 New Release- Liberty Bell and Patriotic Background

Hi Friends!

Today, I am sharing a card designed using the brand new release stamp sets, Patriotic Background and the Liberty Bell Bundle from Stamp Simply

I love all of the patriotic stamp sets from Stamp Simply and both of these stamp sets are perfect for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Veteran’s Day and other patriotic cards!

I decided to combine both of the new stamp sets into an easel fold card using vellum (sorry, it was a bit difficult to photograph due to the vellum overlay and this card does look better in person).

Those of you who follow my blog know that I enjoy participating in online card challenges and incorporated the Inkspirational #317 Word Prompt- Frame Challenge and the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge Featured Designer Jeanie #249 (Left to Right Diagonal- Layers- Fun Fold- Gems or Sequins) .

I hope you will find the time to visit the above challenge sites for inspiration as well as the rest of my Design Team sisters at Stamp Simply- absolutely gorgeous cards by all!

To create this card:

Create the easel base (see tutorial at Splitcoaststampers here) by cutting a piece of 8 ½” x 11” white cardstock in half (each piece should be 4 ¼” x 11”).

Score one piece at 5 ½” and again at 2 ¾”.

For the card front – ink the Patriotic Background stamp using Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamp onto two separate pieces of white cardstock.

Color the background stamp images with water-color pencils. Once satisfied with the coloring, trim close to the edges of the images.

Layer one of the images onto dark navy cardstock.

Die cut a rectangle from white cardstock, vintage the edges using distress oxide ink.

Cut a piece of vellum to approx. 4 ⅛” x 5 ¼”.  De-static the lower right hand area with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment from Liberty Bell using Versafine Black Onyx ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Layer the vellum behind the die cut frame and adhere to the card front.

Mount the card front onto the easel panel.

Use the second background image for the lower panel- cut the background above where the sentiment could be stamped and adhere to a piece of dark navy cardstock.

Trim pieces of white cardstock into thin strips (to create a frame), distressing with oxide ink to “antique” the cardstock.

Cut a piece of vellum to approx. 4 ⅛” x 3 ¾” , de-static the lower area of the vellum with an embossing powder tool, stamp the “Let Freedom Ring” sentiment from Liberty Bell using Versafine Black Onyx ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Adhere the vellum panel onto the background, adding the strips of distressed cardstock to the edges to create a frame.

Ink the bell, bow and wood image from the Liberty Bell Bundle with Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamp onto white cardstock and color with water-color pencils. Use a silver metallic paint pen to add highlights to the bell image.

Die cut each image with their coordinating die.  Assemble the bell, wood and bow image together and adhere to the card front with dimensional foam.

Add a strip of lace at the top of the card front.

Die cut a few stars from navy cardstock and add to the lower panel.

Add a strip of designer paper to cover up the rest of the card base on the lower panel and add a few red rhinestones to finish off the card.

TCC208 Hello Summer- Be Still and Know

Hi Friends!

I had so much fun in creating my previous card, I decided to create a second card for our #208 {Hello Summer} Challenge at the The Card Concept!

Just a reminder, this will be our last challenge before our summer break and we are looking forward to seeing what inspires your card from our inspiration photo!

Will it be the overall theme, the colors, textures, stripes, pillows, patterns or something else?

I was inspired by the theme, colors and textures and decided to pull out the Stamp Simply set, Words of Encouragement for the verse sentiment and paired it with two retired Stampin’ Up! sets, Nature’s Wonder and the Wonderfully Worn background stamp for my fairly clean and layered Mixed Media card.

As I mentioned previously, it has been a goal of mine to try to ink up some of my many retired stamp sets and I have always loved this sand dollar image and the background stamp was used as a grunge element.

I also enjoy participating with online challenges and will be playing along with one of my favorite challenges, the Word Art Wednesday #651-#652 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

I hope you will take a moment to visit our challenge blog and see how the rest of the Design Team were inspired- they are so creative!!

To create this card:

On a piece of white cardstock, de-static with an embossing powder tool, ink the retired Nature’s Wonder image with Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamp onto the prepared panel, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, watercolor with distress oxide inks and trimming the image close to the edge.

Mount the image onto black cardstock, trim and mount onto white cardstock, trim once more and mount onto black cardstock.

Press Broken China and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink onto a silicone mat.  Lightly spritz with water, press a piece of white cardstock into the ink to create the background.

Use a heat tool to dry the panel.

Ink the Wonderfully Worn background with Versafine Black Onyx Ink, carefully press the panel along the background stamp in various places to create the distressing on the panel.

Once the ink has dried, de-static the lower right hand area, ink the sentiment with Versafine Black Onyx and stamp onto the prepared panel.  Apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the panel to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”, mount onto black cardstock.

Add the ¼” black grosgrain ribbon onto the panel and wrap the ends behind the panel.

Mount the entire background panel onto aqua cardstock before adhering to a white card base.

Add the layered sand dollar image onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Add Frost White Shimmer Paint with a water brush to add shimmer to the sand dollar image along with a few black rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Words of Encouragement (Stamp Simply), retired Nature’s Wonder, Wonderfully Worn background (Stampin’ Up!)

Inks/Mediums: Versafine Onyx Black,  Tim Holtz™ Distress Oxide Ink- Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Hickory Smoke; Frost White Shimmer Paint

Cardstock/Paper: White, Black, Bermuda Bay

Accessories/Tools: Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, AquaPainter™, ¼” Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Black Rhinestones

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by! I hope you are inspired to create a card and join us for our #208 {Hello Summer} Challenge at The Card Concept!  The deadline to play along is Monday, July 8th  at noon EST.

TCC208 Hello Summer

Hi Friends!

Welcome to our #208 {Hello Summer} Challenge at the The Card Concept!

This will be our last challenge before our summer break and we are looking forward to seeing what inspires your card from our inspiration photo!

Will it be the overall theme, the colors, textures, stripes, pillows, patterns or something else?

I was inspired by the theme, colors and textures and decided to pull out the Stamp Simply set, Scripture for Graduation and Beyond for the verse sentiment and pair it with the retired Stampin’ Up! set, Nature’s Wonder.

It has been a goal of mine to try to ink up some of my many retired stamp sets and I have always loved this sand dollar image.  It reminded me of the starfish and of course, the seashore and thought it would work well for this challenge.

Mount the image onto black cardstock, trim and mount onto white cardstock, trim and mount onto black cardstock, before trimming one last time and mounting onto aqua cardstock.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock with the retired Mosaic embossing folder. Trim to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”, distress the edges, mount onto black cardstock.

Add a piece of burlap ribbon on a diagonal, wrapping the ends behind a panel.  Add a piece of aqua grosgrain ribbon and a ¼” black grosgrain ribbon (wrapping the ends of both behind the panel).

Mount the entire panel onto a piece of aqua cardstock and adhere to a white card base.

De-static a piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the sentiment from Scripture for Graduation and Beyond with Versamark and stamp onto the prepared panel, apply white embossing powder, heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the sentiment with a stitched oval die.  Die cut an additional oval from aqua cardstock, cut the aqua oval in half and adhere behind the embossed sentiment oval (allowing a bit of the aqua cardstock to show on each side).

Mount the sentiment directly onto the front of the card, tucking the top under the ribbon strips.

Add the layered sand dollar image onto the card front with dimensional foam.

Loop silver cording and tuck under the sand dollar image.

Add Frost White Shimmer Paint with a water brush to add shimmer to the sand dollar image along with a few rhinestones to finish off the card.

Admired, Respected, Loved

Hi Friends!

I am having fun this week creating cards using some of my older retired stamp sets, paper and ribbons.

With Father's Day approaching, I wanted to create a few masculine cards and decided to combine two retired stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!- the moose image from the Walk in the Wild set and the sentiment is from The Wilderness Awaits.

I enjoy playing along with online challenges and will be linking this card to The Male Room #187 “Ribbon or Twine” Challenge,  the C.R.A.F.T. #722 “Masculine” Challenge and the Simon Says Wednesday “Masculine” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites yet,  I hope you will find time to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Heat emboss the moose image as well as the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear embossing powder.

Once the embossing for the moose image has cooled, watercolor the moose image using distress oxide inks and die cut with a stitched square die.

Mount the die cut square onto a piece of black cardstock and trim close to the die cut.

Die cut the sentiment with a fishtail banner die (die cut two additional fishtail banners from black cardstock and layer behind the embossed sentiment).

Emboss a piece of woodgrain designer paper (approx.4” x 3 ½”) with a woodgrain embossing folder and distress the edges.

Adhere the embossed panel onto a piece of black cardstock.

Trim a piece of designer paper to approx. 4” x 2 ¾” and adhere to the lower portion of the panel.

Add a strip of 1” black grosgrain ribbon to the card panel, wrap the ends behind the panel before adhering to a white card base.

Add a few pieces of looped green satin ribbon to the right hand side of the layered moose image.

Adhere the moose and sentiment to the card front using dimensional foam to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: The Wilderness Awaits, Walk in the Wild (both retired Stampin; Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine Onyx Black. Tim Holtz Distress Oxide- Broken China, Brushed Corduroy, Ground Espresso, Mowed Lawn

Cardstock/Paper: White, Black, misc. Woodgrain and Green Designer Paper (not sure of the manufacturer)

Accessories/Tools: Gemini, Jr, MFT Stitched Square Dies, Fishtail Sentiment Banners Dies (Stamp Simply), Woodgrain Embossing Folder (retired SU!). Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Distressing Tool, 3/8” Green Satin and 1” Black Grosgrain Ribbon (from my stash)

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope all of you have a blessed week!

There were two stamp bundles in this new release and both of the new stamp bundles, the Great Lakes Freighter- The Edmund Fitzgerald Bundle and the Mackinac Bridge Bundle- are perfect for all occasions!

Use the coordinating die from the Mackinac Bridge Bundle to die cut the bridge image and die cut an additional bridge from white cardstock to layer behind the stamped/colored image.

Trim a piece of white cardstock to approx. 2 ½” to 5” and using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink and a stencil brush, apply ink over the “sky” area.

Using the cloud dies from the Mackinac Bridge Bundle,  die cut a few clouds.

Layer the cloud pieces onto the sky area and mount the panel onto a 4 ⅛: x 5 ⅛” piece of white cardstock.

Dry emboss a piece of approx 2 ½” x 5” piece of white cardstock with the Mechanics 3D Embossing Folder, attach to the white cardstock from the step above.
