Stamp Simply June 2024 New Release- Liberty Bell and Patriotic Background

 

Hi Friends!

Today, I am sharing a card designed using the brand new release stamp sets, Patriotic Background and the Liberty Bell Bundle from Stamp Simply. 

I love all of the patriotic stamp sets from Stamp Simply and both of these stamp sets are perfect for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Veteran’s Day and other patriotic cards!

I decided to combine both of the new stamp sets into an easel fold card using vellum (sorry, it was a bit difficult to photograph due to the vellum overlay and this card does look better in person). 

Those of you who follow my blog know that I enjoy participating in online card challenges and incorporated the Inkspirational #317 Word Prompt- Frame Challenge and the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge Featured Designer Jeanie #249 (Left to Right Diagonal- Layers- Fun Fold- Gems or Sequins) . 

I hope you will find the time to visit the above challenge sites for inspiration as well as the rest of my Design Team sisters at Stamp Simply- absolutely gorgeous cards by all!

To create this card:

Create the easel base (see tutorial at Splitcoaststampers here) by cutting a piece of 8 ½” x 11” white cardstock in half (each piece should be 4 ¼” x 11”). 

Score one piece at 5 ½” and again at 2 ¾”. 

For the card front – ink the Patriotic Background stamp using Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamp onto two separate pieces of white cardstock.

Color the background stamp images with water-color pencils. Once satisfied with the coloring, trim close to the edges of the images.

Layer one of the images onto dark navy cardstock.

Die cut a rectangle from white cardstock, vintage the edges using distress oxide ink.

Cut a piece of vellum to approx. 4 ⅛” x 5 ¼”.  De-static the lower right hand area with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment from Liberty Bell using Versafine Black Onyx ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Layer the vellum behind the die cut frame and adhere to the card front.

Mount the card front onto the easel panel.

Use the second background image for the lower panel- cut the background above where the sentiment could be stamped and adhere to a piece of dark navy cardstock.

Trim pieces of white cardstock into thin strips (to create a frame), distressing with oxide ink to “antique” the cardstock.

Cut a piece of vellum to approx. 4 ⅛” x 3 ¾” , de-static the lower area of the vellum with an embossing powder tool, stamp the “Let Freedom Ring” sentiment from Liberty Bell using Versafine Black Onyx ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Adhere the vellum panel onto the background, adding the strips of distressed cardstock to the edges to create a frame.

Ink the bell, bow and wood image from the Liberty Bell Bundle with Versafine Black Onyx ink, stamp onto white cardstock and color with water-color pencils. Use a silver metallic paint pen to add highlights to the bell image.

Die cut each image with their coordinating die.  Assemble the bell, wood and bow image together and adhere to the card front with dimensional foam.

Add a strip of lace at the top of the card front.

Die cut a few stars from navy cardstock and add to the lower panel.

Add a strip of designer paper to cover up the rest of the card base on the lower panel and add a few red rhinestones to finish off the card.

Thoughts & Prayers- Nothing is Worth More than This Day

Hi Friends!!

Woohoo! I had a chance to create another Clean and Simple (CAS) Mixed Media card using an alcohol ink technique on vellum last night. One thing I forgot to do was work in a well ventilated room- lol! I must remember that for the next time :-)

I created this card for the August CAS Mixed-Media challenge and chose to use vellum versus Yupo® paper (I have the Yupo® as well as Glossy cardstock but neither one was in the area where I actually stamp right now, so I pulled out a piece of vellum instead) and the Simon Says Wednesday "Splatter It" Challenge.

My design style normally does not lean toward CAS cards but lately I have been trying to participate in CAS challenges and force myself to think CAS.  I am having so much fun with this style and who knows? I may be converted soon- lol!!

OK, I have to admit, this card was an experiment so I did try a few different things ( I refused to give up :-)) :

1). Using alcohol inks for the “smoosh” technique (***Note- epic fail on vellum but it is part of this card ) place a few drops of Ranger® Adirondack™ Alcohol Inks- Ginger, Latte and Terra Cotta onto a silicone craft mat, spritz with alcohol blending solution and lay the piece of vellum into the ink. Immediately lift up the vellum, allow the inks to merge and blend.  The problem I had with this method on vellum was that I had too much of the ink on the mat (and too similar of colors) so the colors became one brown color (I decided to wipe it off the vellum and start over...)

2). Using  Spectrum Noir™ Alcohol Markers, color with the large flat nib back and forth over the panel- GB5 Yellow at the top, OR1 Orange in the center and the DG4 at the bottom. Once the marker has dried (only a few moments), spritz a bit of alcohol blending solution over the panel and allow that to dry.

3). Trim the vellum, de-static the alcohol marker ink side with an Embossing Buddy®, stamp the tree from Thoughts & Prayers using Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply Clear Embossing Powder and carefully heat set with the Heat Tool.

4). Using the Big Shot™ with the MFT Stitched Rectangle STAX, cut the frame from Basic Black cardstock and adhere the vellum panel to the frame.  Mount the entire frame onto a piece of So Saffron cardstock (I had this piece in my stash already die cut with the same rectangle die).

5). On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the sentiment from the retired Summer Afternoon stamp set with Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink at the bottom, trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.  Adhere the entire background onto the white card base and add the vellum panel.

6). Die cut the cat from Basic Black cardstock with the Poppystamps™ Sitting Cat Die (I also had this die cut ready in my stash)- mount onto the card front with dimensional foam to finish off the card.

Thoughts of You- His Wings

I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter weekend!! 

My husband and I were able to spend Saturday with family and we had a great time celebrating our Risen Savior!!  

Today it is my turn to share a card on the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Blog and I designed this fun Clean and Simple (CAS) card using His Wings, Creative Worship Stamp Set (a division of Sweet‘n Sassy Stamps), along with the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps (SNSS) Long StemSilhouettes. 

I incorporated the #AYSI129 As You See It Sketch Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers’ CC568 Color Challenge (did not include the “dessert”) and the Addicted to Stamps and More #186 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

To create this card:

De-static a piece of Vellum using the Embossing Buddy®, ink the feathers from His Wings (SNSS) using Versamark™ Ink, stamp onto the prepared Vellum, apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat set the images with the Heat Tool.

Once the embossing powder has cooled color the feathers using Stampin’ Write Markers- So Saffron and Soft Sky and fussy cut each of the feathers.

Ink the sentiment from Long Stem Silhouettes (SNSS) using Smoky Slate Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim the panel and mount onto the Whisper White card base with dimensional foam.

Add the Vellum feathers using narrow strips of dimensional foam (behind the shafts) and finish off the card with a few Rhinestones.

Birthday Greetings- A Color, Sketch and Theme Card

Hi Stampers! 

Here is another card that I created this weekend using the Freshly Made FMS183 Sketch along with the Create with Connie and Mary CCMC352 Color Challenge and Seize the Birthday 0423 "Make Your Own Background" Challenge.

To create this card:

Using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, stamp the background stamp and sentiment onto a piece of Vellum.

Color the image from behind using Stampin’ Write Markers- Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky and add the highlights with a stylus and piercing mat (again, from the underside of the stamped image).

Trim the vellum panel and mount onto a piece of Soft Sky cardstock (the same size of the vellum panel). 

Add the strip of Basic Gray cardstock along with the Basic Gray bow created with the Bow Builder Punch.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock with the Chevron Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, trim and add a strip of Basic Gray cardstock at the top of the embossed panel.

Mount the embossed panel onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, trim and mount onto the Soft Sky card base.

Mount the focal image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the retired Wild Wasabi button to the bow center to finish off the card.

HYCCT1401C- Hold On To Your Hope

Hi Stampers!

This is my third card for the Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To Challenge (HYCCT) to promote Breast Cancer Awareness and create cards to encourage those with cancer and their families. 

This card was created for the dini aka Dina K. "Hold On To Your Hope" Challenge (see the gallery here and the details here) along with the Splitcoaststampers SC512 Sketch Challenge.

To create this card:

Stamp the image from the retired set, Gentle Thoughts using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Vellum cardstock.  Color the image using Stampin’ Write Watercolor pencils.  Trim and mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock (trimming around the frame image).

Use the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Trim and mount onto the Blushing Bride card front.

Trim and mount an angled piece of retired Concord Crush Designer Series Paper (DSP) adding the strip of Blushing Bride DSP and scrap piece of Whisper White (cut with the Big Shot™ and Finishing Touches Edgelits™). 

Mount the sentiment and focal image to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Add a few Pearls to finish off the card.

Vellum Flowers and Butterflies- Another Floral Birthday :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I hope all of you are having a great weekend so far!! I understand today is Canada Day- so happy Canada Day to all of my Canadian friends!!  

I wanted to create a card with this week’s DD59 Dynamic Duo Challenge Colors (Basic Gray and you pick the second color) and I decided to choose Pink Pirouette.  I have a great friend who just loves pink and loves to stamp, so whenever I can I try to use pink for her :-).

If you have had the chance to visit the Dynamic Duos, try to stop by sometime this week- they always have a number of entries plus they have a wonderful Design Team!!  Again, tremendous inspiration!!

To create this card:

Repeatedly stamp the flowers from Flower Shop and butterfly from Papillon Potpourri using Basic Gray Classic Ink onto Vellum (I have not used Vellum in a while and love this technique). 

Once the ink has dried, flip the image over onto the Stampin’ Pierce™ Mat (this mat is not only great for paper piercing but also for stamping and this vellum technique).  Use a stylus and gently rub the stylus over all of the white areas in the flower images and butterflies.

Use the Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write marker to add a bit of pink to back of the blossoms (to appears as though they are dogwood blossoms) and also to the back of the butterflies (you are coloring over the area that you just rubbed the stylus). 

If desired, add a bit of Pink Pirouette to the front of the blossoms as well.  Punch out the butterflies using the Elegant Butterfly Punch and hand cut the flowers (you could use the Pansy Punch but you will have a border around the edge when using the punch). 

Ink the blossom stamp from Blooming with Kindness using Pink Pirouette ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ and one of the Deco Labels Framelits™ to cut a frame from the Bloomin’ with Kindness image and also cut another frame the same size from Basic Gray cardstock.  Cut the Basic Gray frame in half horizontally and trim the edges so only the top portion shows as a frame behind the focal image.  

Stamp the sentiment from Wetlands (love these sentiments) using Basic Gray Classic Ink directly onto the Deco Label image.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Framed Tulips Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock and trim the outside edge a bit.  Layer this onto Basic Gray cardstock and again onto Pink Pirouette.

Adhere a piece of Basic Gray Designer Series Paper (I used a piece from a retired Level I Hostess Pack) and add the layered Deco Label with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Adhere the vellum flowers and butterflies using Mini Glue Dots, add the Pearls to the butterflies and ribbon at the top to finish off the card.

Ink: Basic Gray, Pink Pirouette, Stampin’ Write Marker- Pink Pirouette

Happy Easter- Playing with The Paper Players

Hi Stampers!!

I had another chance to stamp this evening (one of my favorite things to do :-)) and to create an Easter card using the fabulous spring colors in the PP136 Challenge at The Paper Players and this also qualifies for the Stampin' Up! Only SUO66 Challenge- Easter Parade:-) 

I believe that both of these sites, The Paper Players and SUO Challenges have very talented design teams,  and if you have not had a chance to visit their sites yet, I highly encourage you to do so (trust me, you will not be disappointed :-)).

**** 03/28/13**** This card also qualifies for the StillADDinktive Spot that Easter Stamp Easter - this challenge site allows you to back link projects that you have created oor create a new project.  I am not sure if I will have the time to stamp another Easter card before Sunday so I decided to share this one:-)  

I decided to use Crosses of Hope and while I love and own the stamp set, the cross was not as large as I wanted, so I utilized My Digital Studio to create this “hybrid” card :-) 

To create this card:

Open the My Digital Studio program and using a blank page, insert the stamp brush from Crosses of Hope, size to your preference and change the color to Early Espresso (or if you prefer, stamp the cross using Early Espresso Classic Ink).  Print out onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the flowers and leaves using Stampin’ Write Markers in Pool Party, Regal Rose and Lucky Limeade.  Carefully cut out the cross image and set aside.

Cut a panel of Pool Party and Regal Rose cardstock and overlap in the center (my panel is 3" x 4 1/4") and mount this panel onto Early Espresso cardstock.  Emboss a piece of Vellum using the Big Shot™ and the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and layer over the 3" x 4 1/4" Pool Party/Regal Rose panel (I used a thin layer of Two-Way Glue to adhere the Vellum- dries clear and works great!).

Add the embossed lace paper border (this was a previously embossed piece from my scraps using the Big Shot™ , Large Scallop Edgelit™ and the Delicate Designs (Lace) Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder).  Add the ½” Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon to cover the paper lace layer where it overlaps (right under the top of the horizontal parts of the cross).

Adhere the cross to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add Pearls to the lower right hand corner and to the flowers on the cross.

Emboss a piece of Vellum with the Big Shot™ and Framed Tulips Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Layer this Vellum panel onto a piece of Regal Rose Designer Series Paper (I used the striped layer but it is a bit difficult to see the stripes in the photo) and adhere this embossed Vellum panel to an Early Espresso card front, add the layered cross panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Stamp the sentiment using an Early Espresso Stampin' Write marker (so you can omit part of the sentiment to split the words).  Punch out using the Jewelry Punch, add to card front under the area where the bow will be placed using Mini Glue Dots, add the 1/2” Pool Party Seam Binding Ribbon Bow with the Antique Brad to finish off the card.
