A Snowy Hello

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing another a quick Mixed Media Christmas card using previously released sets, Snowy Hello and Texture Tiles  3 from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the snowman/ bunny image along with the sentiment from Snowy Hello with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

2). Watercolor the snowman/bunny image with water-based markers (see below for colors) and die-cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die.  Stamp a few of the snowflakes around the scene using ink from the markers and hand-draw a snow line with a black pen.  Mount the panel onto a piece of blue-green cardstock, trim close to the die cut edge.  Hand trim the sentiment Hand trim the sentiment, mount onto a piece of blue-green cardstock and trim close to the edge as well.

3).  Die cut a piece of white cardstock for the card front with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of red-orange cardstock.

4). Die cut a piece of retired designer paper with a stitched strip die and mount onto another piece of blue-green cardstock (die cut with a bot larger horizontal strip stitched die).. FYI- I cut these two in half to extend the width of the dies – the split is behind the focal image and a great way to get more from your dies!  Mount the strips onto the background panel, add the thin stitched satin ribbon (wrapping the ends behind the panel) and mount onto a white card base.

5). Create the little banners at the top- stamp onto a scrap piece of white cardstock the texture image from Texture Tiles  3  using ink from the blue-green marker, stamp a few snowflakes using the red-orange marker, hand trim into the banner stamp and mount onto blue-green cardstock.  Create the second banner using designer paper mounted onto blue-green cardstock.

6). Mount the focal image onto the card front with dimensional foam and add the sentiment at the bottom.  Adhere the two banners in the upper left (per the sketch) along with the triple ribbon bow.

7). To finish off the card, add the button to the center of the bow and add a bit of shimmer to the snowflakes, snow and snowman (difficult to see in the photo) with a clear glitter pen.

Sorry, I Was So Prickly

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a great weekend so far! Today I am sharing another card using the May Creative Worship release stamp set, Refresh My Soul from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

Refresh My Soul has so many wonderful sentiments and images- I love that they can be used for cards as well as Bible Art Journaling, scrapbooking, gifts and home décor.

I do not know about you, but I could use a card with this sentiment for sure! Sometimes I tend to speak before I think and it can sound a bit "prickly" :-)

I decided to participate with the Tuesday Throwdown #393 Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge (top row across- watercolor, emboss and die cut) along with the A Gem of a Challenge #220 “Use Three of Something” (three cactus images) and the A Bit More Time to Craft #68 "Anything Goes" Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the SNSS Blog/FB Page yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1).  Ink the three cactus images with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink onto white cardstock, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Watercolor the images with water based markers before fussy-cutting out each image.

2). De-static a piece of black cardstock with an embossing powder tool, lay the cover-up die onto the black cardstock so you can position the “Sorry I was so” and “Prickly” sentiments from Refresh My Soul . Remove the die, stamp the sentiments with Versamark™ ink, apply white embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

3). Die cut a piece of curry designer paper with the stitched cover-up die, mount onto the embossed black cardstock.  Add the black twine (wrapping the ends behind the card front) and mount the entire card front onto a white card base.

4). Adhere the fussy-cut cacti images with dimensional foam.

5). Add the twine bow along with the shimmer brad (I trimmed off the brad points and used hot glue to adhere to the card front).

6). Use a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the cacti images to finish off the card.

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Versamark™, Zig® Clean Color Markers- Green, Lt. Pink, Blue; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

TCC81 Poinsettia Collage

Hi Friends!!

I was inspired by the beautiful red poinsettias as well as all of the gold and textures for my Mixed Media Classy and Elegant card.

I decided to pair the Poinsettia Collage stamp (Our Daily Bread Designs) along with ODBD Christmas Collection 2013 6x6 Paper Pad for this quick card!  I chose to leave the sentiment off the front so, if desired, the recipient could display the card beyond the Christmas season :-)  Plus, I could not allow myself to cover any of the wonderful details of the ODBD Poinsettia Collage stamp!

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will find the time to check out the rest of the wonderful Design Team cards at The Card Concept as well as the entries at the other challenge sites- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Prepare a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the ODBD Poinsettia Collage image with Versamark™ ink, apply gold embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Once the embossing powder has cooled, color the image using a water brush with distress inks and markers.  Trim close to the edge of the image, mount onto espresso cardstock and trim again.

2). Trim a piece of the ODBD Christmas Collection 2013 6x6 Paper to 4” x 5 ¼”, mount onto a piece of espresso cardstock.  Mount the embossed image panel created in step #1 to the center and add the gold triple ribbon bow (wrapping the ends of the ribbon behind the card front).

3). Mount the entire card front onto a white card base and add a few pearls to the lower right hand corner.

4). Finish off the card by adding highlights to the center of the poinsettia with an extra fine white paint pen and shimmer to the petals with a clear glitter pen.

Stamp Sets:  Poinsettia Collage (Our Daily Bread Designs)

Ink/Mediums: Versamark™, Tim Holtz® Distress Ink- Festive Berries, Mowed Lawn; Stampin’ Write Markers- Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Lemon Lime Twist, Soft Suede; Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen, Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen
