Roses in Paris - A Color and Sketch Challenge

Hi Friends!

I had a chance to spend some time stamping last night and decided to create a card using the Artistic Outpost Roses in Paris and Grunge Elements stamp sets along with ODBD Pierced Circles Dies and Chalkboard Collection 6x6 Paper (all available from Our Daily Bread Designs).

I love to participate in online challenges and incorporated the Fab Friday #113 Sketch Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers CC637 Color Challenge and the Try It On Tuesday “FeatheredFriends” Challenge into the design.

If you have not had a chance to check out the Artistic Outpost blog or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so!  Inspiration is posted each week on the AO Blog/ AO Facebook Page and the challenge galleries have gorgeous inspiration as well!

To create this card:

1). Ink the Roses in Paris background stamp with archival black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, heat set with a heat tool and color the image using water-based markers and a water soluble graphite pencil.

2). Center and die cut/emboss the focal image with the Pierced Circles Dies (I also die cut a second circle from black cardstock to adhere behind the image for stability).

3). Create the background panel by pressing a bit of sugarplum ink onto a cellophane envelope, spritzing lightly with water and pressing the white cardstock into the ink, lifting and repeating as necessary (drying between layers with a heat tool).

4). Once you are satisfied with the background, ink the large splatter stamp from Grunge Elements with black soot distress ink, stamp onto the panel.  Add additional splatter by diluting black soot ink with water (I used a craft mat) along with a paint brush to splatter around the edges.  Trim the panel, mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim again and mount onto the white card base.

5). Create the horizontal layers of the sketch – use a polka dot piece of Chalkboard Collection 6x6 Paper (I used a scrap), trim and mount onto a piece of black cardstock.  For the banner layer, trim the piece of sugarplum cardstock, create the banner points and stamp the grid image from Grunge Elements with black soot ink over the panel.  Mount onto black cardstock, trim and adhere both layers to the card front.

6). Mount the focal image die cut circle using dimensional foam onto the card front, add the black hemp twine bow and button along with a few black ebony crystal drops .  Use a clear shimmer pen to add shimmer to the rose petals and an extra fine white paint pen to add highlights to the petunias.

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by and visit- hugs and I hope you have a wonderful week, sweet friends!

Vintage Framed Roses in Paris

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing this card on the Artistic Outpost blog and wanted to share it here with you as well :-)

For this quick Mixed Media card, I chose to highlight a portion of the Roses in Paris background stamp and paired it with ODBD Custom Dies- Ovals Dies and Ornate Ovals as well as the Ephemera Essentials 6x6 Paper Pad (all are available from Our Daily Bread Designs).

To create this card:

1). On a piece of the kraft Ephemera Essentials 6x6 Paper, stencil brushed corduroy distress ink using a flourish stencil and stencil brush, trim the panel, mount onto a piece of black cardstock and lightly distress the edges with a distressing tool.

2). Add the strip of 1” black satin ribbon and mount the pleated red ribbon over the black ribbon (wrapping the edges behind the panel).

3). Mount the entire panel onto the white card base.

4). Die cut and emboss a piece of black cardstock using the Ornate Ovals Dies and set aside.

5). Ink the Roses in Paris background stamp with archival black ink onto white cardstock, heat set with a heat tool and water color using watercolor pencils, water soluble graphit pencils and water based markers.  Die cut and emboss with the Ovals Dies and adhere to the center of the Ornate Ovals die cut created in step 4.

6). Add the layered focal image frame to the card front with dimensional foam, apply a clear glitter pen to the rose petals to add shimmer and pearls to the corners to finish off the card.

This card was quick to create and I think would work well for a variety of occasions, don't you? You could send it as is or add a sentiment at a later date but I love the versatility of the Roses in Paris background stamp!

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by and visit- hugs and I hope you have a great weekend!

Parisian Roses

Hi Friends!

I had a chance to create another card the Roses In Paris background stamp from Artistic Outpost along with ODBD Pierced Rectangles Custom Dies (all available from Our Daily Bread Designs).

I decided to incorporate the Splitcoaststampers CC628 Color Challenge (dessert option- "anything goes" so I added light blue) along with the Simon Monday "Things with Wings" Challenge.

I hope you have had a chance to visit the challenge sites as well as the Artistic Outpost Blog and AO FB page- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the Roses In Paris background stamp with memento black ink and stamp onto a piece of white card stock.

2). Color the image with alcohol markers and water-based markers.  Use a water soluble graphite pencil with a water brush to add shadows, an extra fine white paint pen to add highlights and a clear glitter pen to add shimmer to the flowers.

3). Fussy cut around the edge of the stamped Roses In Paris image.

4). Die cut and emboss a piece of white card stock with the Pierced Rectangles Dies, mount onto the black card front and adhere the fussy cut Roses In Paris image to the center to finish off the card.

That’s it- quick and easy and I think that this would be a great card to have on hand for almost any occasion, don’t you?

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- hugs and I hope you have a wonderful week, my friends!

Roses In Paris- Thanks

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a fun Mixed Media card on the Artistic Outpost blog using the Roses in Paris background stamp along with ODBD Custom Dies-Thanks and Bitty Blossoms (all items are available at Our Daily Bread Designs).

I am linking this card to the Deep Ocean Challenge #151 “Flowers Everywhere” Challenge as well as the Double “D” Things that Fly Challenge (I love watching birds so I thought of bluebirds :-)).

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites or the Artistic Outpost blog yet, I encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Ink the Roses In Paris background image with embossing ink, stamp onto white cardstock and heat emboss the image with white embossing powder.  Once the embossing has cooled, use water-based markers to color the flowers with melon and purple, birds with blue and background with green.  Lightly wipe off the ink from the embossed areas using a paper towel.

2). Use a sponge dauber to apply various distress inks over the entire image- I used vintage photo, tea dye, walnut stain and brushed corduroy- lightly wipe off the excess ink from the embossed areas.

3). Fussy cut the panel along the jagged edge of the image and mount onto a piece of white cardstock, trim and mount again onto a piece of olive cardstock before adhering to the white card base.

4). From gold foil and purple cardstock, use the Thanks Die to cut one sentiment from gold and two from purple.  Layer the two purple die cuts together before adding the gold on top to give the sentiment dimension and adhere directly to the card front.

5). Die cut and emboss the flowers and leaves from white., purple and olive cardstock using the Bitty Blossoms Dies, layer the flowers and leaves together before adding to the card front.

6). Finish off the card by adding pearls to the flower centers.

It is difficult to photograph foil paper but I hope I have inspired you today with this quick Mixed Media card!

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- hugs and I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!
