Vintage Christmas Greetings- Two Challenges in One!

Hi Stampers!

I am still working on my Christmas cards and decided to play along with The Paper Players PP174 Evergreen Challenge along with the Stampin’Celebration SCIC73 Inspiration Challenge.  I am having so much fun making the Christmas cards, hopefully I will take the time to mail them- lol!!

If you have not had a chance to visit either of these challenge sites yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- again, great inspiration from the Design Teams and all of the other entries as well!

To save time, I used My Digital Studio (MDS)to create this card but you could use the regular stamps..it was easier for me to insert, print and create!  Love MDS for cardmaking :-) !!

To create this card:

In MDS, open a blank 8.5 x 11 custom page and insert the Christmas Lodge image and overlay the Evergreen tree a bit to the right of the lodge.  Also insert the sentiment to be printed separate as well as the poinsettia image (again, I arrange randomly on the page leaving room for cutting out by hand, etc. and filling the page before I print on my printer).

Print out onto Whisper White cardstock and color the images using Stampin’ Write markers in Primrose Petals and Gumball Green.

Create a mask using a sticky note and mask the sky area- sponge a bit of Crumb Cake over the sky and the snowy banks in the front (a bit hard to see in the photo).

Close-up to show the shadows and distressing :-)
Distress the edges using the Distressing Tool and sponge additional Crumb Cake Classic Ink onto the edges- hand tear the corners and adhere to a piece of Primrose Petals cardstock.  Tear to "mirror" the edges of the focal image and distress in the same manner.

Add a few highlights using the Chalk Marker and Frost White Shimmer Paint (you cannot see the shimmer in the photo).

Use the Big Shot™ along with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (ink the smooth side of the embossing folder using the Crumb Cake Classic Ink pad direct to the folder) and emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Add this layer to a piece of Primrose Petals cardstock and mount onto the Basic Black card base.

Use the Hexagon Punch to add the banner points to the sentiment and sponge a bit of Crumb Cake Classic Ink to distress the sentiment.  Adhere to a piece of Primrose Petals cardstock and add the banner points with the same punch.

A view of the layers :-)
Add the focal image to the card front and adhere the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.    Hand cut the poinsettia image apart to create three separate pieces and adhere to the corners and around the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add a few Pearls to the sentiment corners to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Lodge, Bells and Boughs, Special Seasion- all MDS versions

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Crumb Cake Classic Ink, Stampin’ Write markers- Primrose Petals, Gumball Green, Chalk Marker

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Primrose Petals

Accessories:  Big Shot™, retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Hexagon Punch, Distressing Tool, Sponge Daubers, Pearls

DD77 A Cardinal Christmas Greeting

Hi Stampers!

I am so excited to announce that I will be part of another Design Team- The Dynamic Duos!!  I love participating in their weekly color challenges (usually only two colors) and now I will be on their Design Team for the next six months along with a terrific lineup of fellow Designers- woohoo!!

This week’s DD77 color combination is bright and cheerful and I am hoping that you will create a card and join us!!

The colors reminded me of Christmas, so I created another Christmas card for my commitment to the CCC13 Christmas Card challenge….only a few weeks to go before I need to start mailing my cards... I better get busy :-)

To create this card:

In My Digital Studio (MDS), open a blank 8.5 x 11 custom page and insert the Cardinal image from A Cardinal Christmas (I “re-sized” and reversed the image so it is facing towards the right) and insert the sentiment from Special Season.

Print onto Whisper White cardstock  (again, I usually insert other images before printing to fill up the page and use the other images at a later date).

Color the cardinal and berries using a Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker and the leaves with the Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write marker- add shadows with the Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write marker.

With the Big Shot™ and the Window Frame Framelits™, cut out the cardinal image and also a frame the same size from Real Red cardstock.  Cut the Real Red window frame die cut in half horizontally and adhere behind the cardinal image allowing a bit of the Real Red frame to show around the edges.

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Northern Frost Decorative Strip to cut out the snowflakes from a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Also use the Big Shot™ with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock.   Add this layer onto the Real Red card base and adhere the diagonal strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock (I used a piece from my scraps that was already cut on the diagonal from a previous sketch challenge- love my scraps!!  :-).

Round the corners on the sentiment using the 1 ¾” Circle Punch and adhere to a scrap piece of Real Red cardstock (rounding the ends of the Real Red frame with the same punch).

Cut some of the snowflake die cuts in half and adhere behind the cardinal and sentiment layers and add the entire cardinal/sentiment panel to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the additional snowflake to the front right of the cardinal along with the Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  A Cardinal Christmas, Special Season– both MDS

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Marker- Bermuda Bay, Real Red, Sahara Sand
Paper: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Real Red

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Window Frames Framelits™, Northern Flurry Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Northern Frost Decorative Strip (retired), 1 ¾” Circle Punch, Pearls

The rest of our Design Team did a fabulous job and if you would like to visit each of their blogs, here are the links  :-)

Thanks again for stopping by!     I hope all of you will have a chance to play along this week- I would love to see your creations!!

Christmas Greeings- A CAS Sketch and Color Combo

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to create another Christmas card design for my CCC13 Splitcoaststampers' commitment and decided to try using this week’s Create with Connie and Mary CCMC272 Colors (love the colors but ithey are a bit bright together- definitely a challenge for me :-)) along with the CAS Colours andSketches #46 Sketch Challenge

Again, I hope you have the chance to visit each site- great inspiration from both Design Teams and other entrants!

To create this card:

Stamp the tree image from Special Season using Bermuda Bay Classic Ink onto Whisper White and trim to size.

Using So Saffron  and Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Write markers, color a few of the bulbs and garland.

Cut the Designer Series Paper on a diagonal per the sketch and layer onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock ( (I used a few pieces of retired DSP-  International Bazaar and Summer Smooches))

Layer again onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and add the Bermuda Bay diagonal strip to hide the seam.

Use the Big Shot™ with the retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the entire panel and mount onto the Rich Razzleberry card base.

Stamp the sentiment using Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and trim to size.

Add the tree image and sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Adhere the Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Special Season

Ink: Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry, Stampin’ Write Markers- Rich Razzleberry and So Saffron

Paper: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry , Designer Series Paper- retired International Bazaar and Summer Smooches

Accessories: Big Shot™, retired Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Rhinestones

Not sure if I will create the monthly CCC13 commitment of five to six of this color combo- if you have the time, let me know what you think…too bright or too retro?  Not sure if I am "sold" on it- lol!!

Thanks again for stopping by- it means so much to me!! Have a great Sunday- God Bless!
