Born of Water and the Spirit

 

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing a quick Clean and Simple card using stamps, dies and paper from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

I am having so much fun with the Craft Consortium Vivid Ink Drops 6x6 Paper Pad!  I love the look of the alcohol ink backgrounds and this one with the blues, purples and touches of gold reminded me of water.

I paired a sheet of the Vivid Ink Drops paper along with Bazzill Mirror Gold Cardstock and the new Baptism (and More) stamp set to create a card celebrating baptism. The Baptism (and More) stamp set has so many great sentiments and several verses- not just for baptism but for all year round!

I absolutely love this mirror cardstock (sorry for the glare in some of the photos, it definitely has a mirror finish and is so thick)!  I am looking forward to using it with an embossing folder, plus there are other finishes available- silver, copper - it will be wonderful to emboss with an embossing folder)!

While baptism is not a step you take for salvation, once you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior through faith alone, it is an outward expression of an inward change for a born-again Christian. 

The abstract nature of the Vivid Ink Drops paper lends itself to a masculine feel and would be perfect for a young (or older) man who was recently baptized.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, my personal goal is to create a card for each of the over 800 Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenges and decided to incorporate the SC764 Sketch for the layout (from August 2019).       

In addition to the sketch challenge, I am also joining the Watercooler Wednesday #WWC313 Tristan’s Challenge- All Things Masculine and the Word Art Wednesday #487-#488 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had time to check out the Stamp Simply blog or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Trim a piece of the Bazzill Mirror Gold Cardstock to approx. 4” x 5 ¼” and mount onto a white card base.

Cut the 6x6 inch panel of Vivid Ink Drops paper to approx. 4” x 5” and cut into four strips with the bottom strip a bit wider than the other three.

Mount the strips of paper onto the card front, separating the panels (per the sketch).

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the sentiment from the Baptism (And More) set with Versamark ink, stamp onto the prepared panel, apply extra fine gold embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  

Repeat the above steps on the inside of the card using the words from the Baptism (And More) set “Congratulations on your Baptism.

Allow the embossing to cool, die cut the verse sentiment using an oval die (cutting a few extra dies from white cardstock), adhere the ovals together to create a thicker panel and mount onto the front of the card with dimensional foam (or chipboard).

That is, it- the card is finished! Quick and easy and flat for mailing!

TCC153 Be Still and Know

Welcome to The Card Concept #153 {Loads of Lavender} Challenge!

For those of you who are not familiar with The Card Concept Challenge, it is a bi-weekly challenge that uses an inspiration photo for you to create a card.  You can choose or combine card making styles and our Design Team of ten ladies creates a card as well to inspire you. 

I love this farmhouse style photo and was inspired by the lavender. the corrugated pitcher with the black and white checked ribbon, the script on the pillow as well as the shiplap background to create a Shabby and Vintage Mixed Media card.

 Many of you that follow my blog know that I have been slowly working on creating a card for each of the over 800 Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenges :-)      and incorporated the  SC269 Sketch for the layout.

I am also linking this card to the A Place to Start- April 2021 "Anything Goes- Make It Elegant" Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit The Card Concept, or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all! 

To create this card:

On a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of white cardstock, stamp the “Carte Postale” , Script and Cancelled Postage image with Pumice Stone Distress Ink to cover the panel.

Using a score board, score the paper at ⅝” intervals and distress the edges of the panel (this is difficult to see in the photo but the score lines are there :-)). 

Using Pumice Stone distress ink, apply the ink directly to the edges and use a water brush to add a bit of ink to distress the background.

Cut a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of eggplant cardstock in half diagonally, emboss the rectangle with a tin tile embossing folder, distress the edges and adhere to the background panel.

Mount the panel onto a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of eggplant cardstock, distress the edges, add a strip of black and white checked ribbon, and mount the panel onto a white card base.

Trim a piece of light gray cardstock, crimp with a crimper tool, apply pearl embossing paste and use a water brush to spread the paste.  Use a heat tool to dry the crimped panel and adhere to the card front.  Add a few pieces of Graphic 45 Washi Tape to the crimped panel, use a scoring tool to create grooves that match the corrugated lines.

Trim a piece of white cardstock to approx. 2 ¾” x 2 ½”, ink the Graphic 45 newsprint image with Pumice Stone distress ink, stamp repeatedly over the piece of cardstock, distress the edges and apply Pumice Stone ink to distress.

Using Dusty Concord distress ink, stamp the stem image from Country Roads onto the above panel, stamping off to create volume and dimension.  Use a heat tool to make sure the ink has dried.

De-static with an embossing powder tool, stamp the verse sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Mount onto a piece of eggplant cardstock, trim close to the edge, distress with a distressing tool and mount onto the card front with dimensional foam (or chipboard). 

To finish off the card, add the black and white checked bow and a few rhinestones to the corners of the stamped sentiment panel.

Today I am sharing a pocket card designed using stamps, dies and paper from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

I love Graphic 45 paper and the Blossom 8x8 paper pad has such beautiful designs!  This card uses a few cut-parts along with a green striped pattern that has a pink floral (see the inside of the card) on the reverse side.

As many of you that follow my blog know, I have a personal goal to create a card for each one of the over 800 Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenges.  This card uses the SC03 Sketch for the layout  from 2005 (modified with the oval for the sentiment).  

I am also participating with the Simon Says Monday “Layer It” Challenge along with the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge #108 Challenge (middle row down- Floral, Free, Any Shape Die).

If you have not had time to check out the Stamp Simply blog or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Cut the striped piece of Blossom designer paper to approx. 5 ¼” x 5 ¼”.  Trim off a 2” strip off the bottom of the panel, emboss the larger portion with the Darice Wire Fence embossing folder, lightly sand the embossing with a sanding block and distress the edges.

Mount onto a piece of 5 ½” x 5 ½” dark navy cardstock, distress the edges and set and adhere the entire card panel onto a 5 ½” x 11” dark navy cardstock base.

To create the pocket- adhere the 2” portion of the striped designer paper (cut from the step above) onto a piece of dark navy cardstock and distress the outside edges only. Add a strip of ivory Venise lace  (approx. 1” below the upper edge), adhere the border strip cut from the Blossom 8x8 paper pad to the top portion (this layer should cover the raw edge of the lace).   

Mount the pocket onto the embossed/layered front panel using adhesive only on the sides and bottom. Add a piece of sage twill ribbon, wrapping the ends behind the panel.

De-static a piece of Luxury Pearlescent Quartz Metallic 105# Cardstock with a
n embossing powder tool, ink the verse sentiment from He Has Risen with a black pigment ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Die cut the sentiment with the medium oval die from the Hemstitch Oval Dies, die cut another oval from dark navy cardstock, cut the navy oval in half, and adhere behind the sentiment oval.  Mount onto the pocket layer using adhesive only on the bottom half of the oval (to allow the pocket feature to function).

Trim two pieces of ivory cardstock to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”.  De-static each with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiments from Birthday Blessings with a pigment black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Adhere to the inside of the card and use strips of the Blossom pink floral pattern to cover the edges (this is the reverse side of the green striped pattern). 

Die cut a small heart using the Farmhouse Pierced Nested Hearts dies from the striped pattern, add to the top of the upper inside layer and adhere a pearl to the center of the heart.

Trim the two cut-a-parts from the Blossom paper pad, mount onto dark navy cardstock and add a piece of ivory cardstock to the back (for journaling or adding a hand-written message).  

Tuck the two journaling cards into the front pocket, and to finish off the card, add a few pearls to the sentiment oval and upper left-hand corner of the card.

Welcome to The Card Concept #152 {Celebrate Easter} Challenge!

What a fabulous Easter/Spring tiered tray! I love all of the different elements, bunnies, carrots and textures!

I was inspired by the neutrals as well as the colors and that fabulous “He Has Risen” block on the bottom tier to create a Clean and Simple/Classy and Elegant layered card!

In celebration of Easter Week and Resurrection Sunday, I wanted to create a card reflecting the true meaning of Easter and pulled out several stamp sets, dies and accessories from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store for the design.  

I am linking this card to the Simon Says Monday Easter/Spring Challenge and the Watercooler Wednesday WWC312 “Helen’s Challenge: All About Occasions” and the Word ArtWednesday #485-#486 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit The Card Concept, or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all! 

To create this card:

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, ink the cross image from Easter is for Jesus and the sentiment “He Has Risen” from the He Has Risen stamp set with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto the prepared panel, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, die cut the cross with the coordinating die from the Easter is for Jesus Bundle and the sentiment using the Fishtail Sentiments Banner Dies.

Repeat the same steps above to heat emboss the floral image from Floral Clusters-Summer Roses and die cut with the coordinating die. 

Watercolor the cross and floral image using water-based markers.

Emboss a piece of white cardstock with a sheet music embossing folder, trim to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”. 

Add a strip of 2" Raschel Peach Lace and a piece of 1/2" Dusty Olive Seam Binding Ribbon over the top edge of the lace, wrapping the ends of both behind the panel.  

Adhere the die-cut floral image and mount the entire background panel to a white card base.

Add the cross die cut and sentiment with dimensional foam (or chipboard).   

Finish off the card with a few pearls in the upper left-hand corner and center of the flowers.

Easter Grace

 

Hi Friends!

Today I am sharing another spring card using the Grace and Seasonal Wreaths- Spring & Summer stamp sets along with banner and wreath dies plus the Welcome Easter 6x6 Paper Pad by Echo Park  (all from Stamp Simply).  

I am still working my way through the Splitcoaststampers sketch challenges and I incorporated the SC272 Sketch into the layout.

I am also participating with the Word Art Wednesday #483-#484 “Anything Goes”Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the Stamp Simply blog yet, or the other the challenge sites, I encourage you to take the time to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Trim the pink striped patterned paper from the Welcome Easter 6x6 Paper Pad by Echo Park  to approx. 4” x 5 ¼”, mount onto white cardstock and adhere to a white card base.

 From the Welcome Easter 6x6 Paper Pad by Echo Park, trim a piece of the yellow plaid paper to approx. 1 ½” x 4”, adhere to white cardstock and add a layer of vellum over the yellow plaid. 

Trim a piece of the pastel plaid from the Welcome Easter 6x6 Paper Pad by Echo Park to approx.. 3” square, mount onto white cardstock and trim close to the edge and adhere directly to the card front.

De-static a piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool,  ink the wreath and floral images from the Seasonal Wreaths- Spring & Summer  stamp set with pigment black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Once the embossing has cooled, color the floral image with water-based markers.  Once satisfied with the coloring, die cut the wreath and floral image with the coordinating Seasonal Wreaths- Spring & Summer dies.

Repeat the above steps to stamp the verse sentiment from Grace , once the embossing has cooled, die cut with the Fishtail Sentiments Banner dies. 

Adhere the sentiment banner directly to the card front, add the layered yellow/vellum layer to the card front (overlapping the sentiment a bit) and mount the wreath and floral die-cut image with dimensional foam.

Finish off the card with a few silver rhinestones.

Ink/Mediums:  Versafine Onyx Black, Stampin’ Up! markers- Barely Banana, Balmy Blue, Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette
