TCC70 Sending Peace and Strength

Hi Friends!!

It’s time for The Card Concept #70 “Purple Haze” Challenge!  Isn’t this a fun inspiration photo with all of the purple bottles and hazy finishes?  I decided to create a Clean and Simple (CAS) Mixed Media card using Power Poppy’s digital images.

I have also incorporated the Splitcoaststampers’ Alphabet Challenge DDABC8S (S=stenciling, word-strength, stitched die, sparkle) into the design.

To create this card:

1). Using your computer along with a printer, print out the Power Poppy digital image of Easy Breezy Coneflowers and position the sentiment from the digital set, Olive  and Oak onto white cardstock.

2). Color the floral image using watercolor pencils, alcohol and water-based markers adding shadows with a water soluble graphite pencil. 

3). Use a chevron stencil, apply light purple classic ink with a stencil brush and apply shimmer with a clear glitter pen.

4). Die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die and mount onto eggplant cardstock, mount onto the white card base.

5). Use an extra fine white paint pen to add highlights to the coneflower centers.

Ink/Mediums: Printer Ink- black; Derwent® Watercolor and Graphite Water Soluble Pencils, Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers. Perfect Plum Classic Ink, Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen, Spectrum Noir® Clear Glitter Pen

Paper: Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant

Accessories: AquaPainter™, Chevron Stencil, MFT Stitched Rectangle Die

F4A370 Floral Birthday

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a wonderful week so far! This card was designed for the Splitcoaststampers’ Free For AllF4A370 “A CASE of My Favorites” Challenge- choose a favorite of yours from your Splitcoaststampers’ Fav Gallery and CASE the card. 

"CASEing" means Copy and Sahre Everything so you can copy directly or change the layout, colors, etc. inspired by one of the favorites in your Splitcoaststampers gallery.   

Usually if you copy the card directly from a card artist, it should be for your personal use only and not for publication or sale.  This is a general rule of thumb and most card artists are honored if you choose to CASE one of their creations for your personal use :-)

For my card, I decided to CASE this gorgeous card (pictured above) that was designed by one of my sweet friends, Cheryl Scrivens (see her Splitcoaststampers gallery here and her blog here.  I loved the way she used a horizontal strip for the Scripture sentiment, her excellent coloring and the beautiful coloring of the floral images.

I will also be linking this card to the Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge and the FUSION 03/16 "Paris Rain" Challenge (I was inspired by the bright red and orange against the gray of the rain for my colors ) :-) 

I used the retired Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio program to import the Power Poppy digital images, Climbing Clematis (for the flowers) and Tulips Hobnail Pitcher (for the sentiment) but you could use any scrapbooking software or Microsoft Word to import the digital images.  Or, if you desire, mask and stamp the images to create this layout.   

One reason I love digital images is that you can re-size the images and I did enlarge the Climbing Clematis for this card. 

To create this card:

1). Insert the digital images from Power Poppy into a scrapbook editing software program (I used My Digital Studio) or you can use Word.  Once you are happy with the layout, print out onto a piece of white cardstock using an inkjet printer and black ink.

2). Color the image with alcohol markers along with colored pencils, water-soluble graphite pencils and water-based markers.  Add shimmer to the petals and butterflies with a clear glitter pen and white details with an extra fine white paint pen.  Originally I had more white in the background showing and decided to color up to the stitching on the die, I think I will go back and fill in the margin as well since it seems to look a bit jagged to me:-)

3). Die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto gray cardstock, trimming close to the edge and mount onto the white card base.

4). Use a waterproof black marker along with a ruler to create the horizontal lines above and below the sentiment panel to finish off the card.

This card was so fun to create and thanks Cheryl, for the inspiration!  Since it is basically one layer, it will not require additional postage- yea!!

Paris in the Spring

I had a chance to create another card using images from the Eiffel Collage and Grunge Elements stamps sets at Artistic Outpost along with ODBD Custom Dies -Circles and Pierced Circles  (all available from Our Daily Bread Designs).

I will be linking this card to the Just Add Ink #351 “Just Add L” Challenge (L=Lettering,Lilac/Lavender, Ledge, Leaves) as well as the #thedailymarker30day challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit The Artistic Outpost Blog or the Just Add Ink site  yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from the Artistic Outpost Design Team on the AO Blog as well as the JAI Challenge galleries!

To create this card:

1). Ink the Eiffel Collage background stamp with archival black ink and stamp onto two pieces of white cardstock.

2). Fussy cut around the jagged edge of one of the stamped Eiffel Collage images and watercolor both images with water based markers.

 3). Split the fussy-cut Eiffel Collage panel into three sections, distress the outside edges with a distressing tool, mount onto black cardstock , trimming close to the edge.  ***FYI** Here is a little secret- originally I had planned on using just this panel but the girl’s face was split and it did not look “right” to me so the next few steps were what I took to fix the card...Now you know- lol!!

4). Use the Circle Dies to die cut out the image of the girl with the doves on the ledge, mount onto a piece of black cardstock that was die cut and embossed with the Pierced Circle Dies.

5). Use a sponge to apply vintage photo distress ink over the split panel and die cut image to “age” the paper.  To add additional distressing, splash a bit of water with your fingers onto the background panel and heat set with a heat tool.

6). On a white card base, sponge vintage photo distress ink over the edges and stamp the large splatter stamp from Grunge Elements using black soot distress ink.  Mount the background panel directly to the card front.

7). Add the die cut girl image to the card front with dimensional foam.

8). To finish off the card,  use a clear glitter pen to apply shimmer to the Eiffel Tower and flowers and an extra fine white paint pen to add highlights to the flowers.

I had fun experimenting with this card and I hope I have inspired you as well.

Tulips Side Step Card

Hi Friends!  

I hope all of you are having a great week so far! I had another chance to create a card this week using the Our Daily Bread Designs March 2017 Release stamp set, Tulips along with the Tulip Die, Side Step Die and previously released Custom Dies- Small Bow and Pierced Rectangles.

I love to play along with online challenges and incorporated the Splitcoaststampers CC624 Color Challenge as well as the {PIN}spirational #186 Inspiration Challenge and #thedailymarker30day challenge into the design.

If you have not had a chance to visit the ODBD Blog yet or the other challenge sites yet, I would encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all! 

To create this card:

1). Die cut a piece of green cardstock using the Side Step Die, score and fold the card base.

2). Ink the sentiment from Tulips stamp set with archival black ink and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock.  Heat set the ink before die cutting and embossing the panel with the Pierced Rectangles Die.

3). Die cut and emboss two rectangles from black cardstock using the next largest die in the Pierced Rectangles Dies, mount the sentiment onto one panel and set aside.  Split the other panel in half and adhere to the large side step of the Side Step card base (overlapping a bit to allow the green cardstock to show evenly).

4). Ink the floral image from the Tulips stamp set with archival black ink, stamp four images onto white cardstock, heat set the ink and die cut with the Tulip Die.

5). Watercolor the floral images with yellow, blackberry and green dye based inks and markers, using a water brush to blend the ink. Add a bit of shimmer to the flower petals using a clear shimmer pen.

6). Adhere the flowers to the small steps of the Side Step card base, add one tulip to the larger side step on the left, mount the sentiment on top of the flower and adhere the last tulip to the card front (making sure that the cut edge of the rectangle is covered).

7). Die cut and emboss a piece of white cardstock using the Small Bow Dies, assemble the bow and mount onto the card front.  Add a few pearls to finish off the card.

TCC69 Camellias in Bloom

Hi Friends!!

It’s time for The Card Concept #69 “Rich Texture” Challenge!  I love this gorgeous inspiration photo with the weathered chair and beautiful flowers and was inspired to create a simple Mixed Media floral card.

I have incorporated a few other online challenges into the design as well- the Just Us Girls #384 Trend Week “Use A Stencil” Challenge and the Flower Challenge #6 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will find the time to check out the wonderful Design Team cards at The Card Concept as well as the other two challenge galleries- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Using your computer along with a printer, print out the Power Poppy digital image of Camellias and the sentiment from the digital set, Rose and Chamomile onto white cardstock (you can use Word for this step, I use the retired Stampin' Up! My Digital Studio program :-)). 

2). Color the Camellias image using watercolor pencils along with a water brush, layering color until you are satisfied.  Die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die and mount onto dark gray cardstock, trim and mount onto white cardstock.

3). Use a flourish stencil with a stencil brush to apply Hickory Smoke Distress Ink around the petals and apply a clear shimmer pen to the petals. Add a few white highlights to the flower centers with an extra fine white paint pen.

4). Emboss a piece of dark gray cardstock with a woodgrain embossing folder, trim and mount a piece of gray satin ribbon (wrapping the ribbon ends behind the panel).  Mount onto the white card base.

5). Adhere the floral panel to the card front and add a few pearls to the corners.

6). Trim the sentiment, create the banner points by hand (I used a hexagon punch), layer onto dark gray cardstock and mount onto the card with dimensional foam to finish off the card.

Ink/Mediums: Printer Ink- black; Derwent® Watercolor Pencils, Hickory Smoke Distress Ink, Extra Fine Sharpie® White Paint Pen, Spectrum Noir® Clear Glitter Pen

Accessories: AquaPainter™, 1” Gray Satin Ribbon, Pearls

Power Poppy Winter Pick Me Up

Hi Friends! 

With our snow storm this week, I had a chance to spend some time in my stamping studio and wanted to create a card for the Power Poppy March “Let’s Go Green”Challenge. 

I decided to print out a few of the Power Poppy digital stamps- the floral image from Winter Pick Me Up and the sentiment from Rose & Chamomile.  I have owned both of these Power Poppy digi stamps for quite a while but had not had a chance to play with them yet- I thought that the snow day would be a great reason to do so :-).  

I decided to use the retired Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio software to import the images before printing but you can also use Word or other photo editing software to insert the photo file and crop, rotate, etc.

I am also linking this card to Time Out Challenges 3rd Birthday Celebration  #80 “Love and Friendship” Challenge, #thedailymarker30day Challenge and the Simon Monday “Handmade Flowers” Challenge.

To create this card:

1). Print the digital images from Power Poppy Winter Pick Me Up and Rose & Chamomile using Black Printer Ink onto white cardstock.

2). Die cut the Winter Pick Me Up image with a MFT Die-namics Stitched Die and watercolor the image with watercolor pencils and water based markers.  Add white highlights with an extra fine white paint pen and shimmer to the petals with a clear shimmer pen.

3). Mount the panel onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge and hand cut the curved corner.  Adhere the layered panel onto the olive card front and mount onto a white card base.

4). Trim the sentiment, create the banner (I used a hexagon punch), mount onto black cardstock and adhere to the card front using dimensional foam to finish off the card.

SUO170 Dragonfly Dreams

Hi Friends!   

It’s time for the #170 “Things That Fly” Challenge  at SU-Only Challenges!  I have not had a chance to ink up the new Dragonfly Dreams stamp set along with the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits™ yet, so I decided they would be the perfect combination for the “Things That Fly” Challenge.

I incorporated the Splitcoaststampers CC623 Color Challenge (from 02/20) along with the SC635 Sketch Challenge for this week.  I am also linking to the Happy Little Stampers March Watercolor “Anything Goes opt. Smoosh” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to stop by the SU-Only Challenges site to check out the rest of the Design Team projects or the other challenge sites, I hope you will do so- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). Trim a piece of Whisper White cardstock to approx. 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”, mount onto a piece of Island Indigo cardstock (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) and adhere to the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

2). Emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, cut the diagonal (per the sketch), mount onto a piece of Island Indigo cardstock, trim the edges and mount onto the card front.

3). Using ink from Stampin’ Write Markers- Pool Party, Island Indigo and Prefect Plum, scribble onto a craft mat, spritz with water and lay a piece of Whisper White cardstock into the ink.  Repeat the process until you are satisfied.

4). Ink the Watercolor Wash background stamp with Pool Party Classic Ink, ink the splatter image from Dragonfly Dreams with Island Indigo Classic Ink and stamp onto the Watercolor Wash background stamp before laying the smoosh background (created in step 3) onto the Watercolor Wash stamp.  Lift and trim the panel (with the slant as per the sketch) and mount onto Island Indigo cardstock.  Adhere to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

4). Stamp the sentiment from Rose Wonder with Stampin’ Archival Basic Black ink onto another piece of the background (created in step 3), die cut with the Layering Circle Framelits™, layer onto a circle of Island Indigo cardstock (also die cut with a larger circle from the Layering Circles Framelits™).   Mount the sentiment onto the card front with dimensional foam.

5). Ink the Dragonfly Dreams image with Stampin’ Archival Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock, heat set with the Heat Tool, die cut with the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits™, watercolor with Stampin’ Write Markers- Pool Party, Perfect Plum and Island Indigo and the AquaPainter™.  Add the dragonfly to the card front and apply Clear Wink of Stella® to the wings for shimmer.

6). Add a few Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Psalm 85:11 Faithfulness Springs Forth

I hope all of you are having a great week so far! I had a chance to play around in my stamping studio and decided to create another spring card using the new Our Daily Bread Designs March 2017 Release stamp set Tulips along with the ODBD Tulip Die and  previously released ODBD Dies.

I incorporated the Hand Stamped Sentiments HSS258 Color Challenge along with the Happy Little Stampers March CAS “Die Cuts” Challenge, the Splitcoaststampers SC634 Sketch Challenge and The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. 

If you have not had a chance to visit the ODBD Blog yet or the other challenge sites yet, I would encourage you to do so- wonderful inspiration from all! 

To create this card:

1). Trim a piece of taupe cardstock, score the horizontal lines near the bottom (per the sketch), mount onto a piece of mint cardstock, trim and mount onto the white card base.

2). Ink the sentiment from ODBD Tulips stamp set with archival black ink and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock.  Heat set the ink before die cutting and embossing the panel with the ODBD Pierced Rectangles  Dies.  Mount onto a piece of mint cardstock, trim close to the edge and adhere directly to the card front.

3). Die cut and emboss a piece of sugarplum cardstock with the ODBD Small Bow Dies and mount onto the front of the card.

4). Ink the ODBD Tulips image with archival black ink, stamp onto white cardstock, heat set with a heat tool and die cut with the ODBD Tulip Die.  Watercolor the image with sugarplum, mint and taupe water based markers and add shimmer to the petals with a clear glitter pen.

5). Mount the die cut floral image onto the card front with dimensional foam to finish off the card.
