Fabulous Mediterranean Moments

Hi Friends!!

Today I am sharing another quick card using an image colored with a water soluble graphite pencil with a bit of color from the Splitcoaststampers CC649 Color Challenge and a touch of scoring for the CAS(E ) This Sketch #235 Sketch Challenge.

If you have not already had a chance to visit the above challenge sites, I hope you will do so- wonderful examples from their Design Teams as well as in their galleries!

To create this card:

1). Score a 3 ¾” x 5” piece of Stampin’ Up! Whisper White cardstock on the bottom and along the right hand edge for the CTS235 sketch design (I already had this image stamped and watercolored in graphite so I could not add as many score lines to the bottom as I would have liked per the sketch :-)).

2). Ink the Mediterranean Moments scene using archival black ink, heat set with the heat tool and watercolor with a Derwent® water soluble graphite pencil.
A bit darker shot to try to show the scoring :-)

3). Add color with Stampin’ Write Markers- Lemon Lime Twist for the leaves and Bermuda Bay for the motor scooter.

4). Trim a piece of Basic Black cardstock, mount the watercolor panel and adhere to the Extra Thick Whisper White card base.

5). Ink the sentiment from the retired Absolutely Fabulous stamp set with archival black ink and stamp onto the card front.

6). To finish off the card use a Clear Wink of Stella® glitter pen to add shimmer to the motor scooter.

Stamp Sets: Mediterranean Moments, Absolutely Fabulous (retired)

Ink/Mediums: Archival Black; Stampin’ Write Markers- Lemon Lime, Bermuda Bay; Clear Wink of Stella® Glitter Pen, Derwent® Water Soluble Graphite Pencil

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Extra Thick Whisper White

Accessories/Tools:  AquaPainter™ , Scoring Tool

Thanks again for stopping by- hugs and I hope all of you have a terrific week!

SC618 You Are Absolutely Fabulous

Hi Friends!

I hope all of you are having a great week so far!  It’s time for the new Splitcoaststampers’ (SCS) SC618 Sketch Challenge and I decided to incorporate the SCS WT608 “All About Critters” Challenge and the Just Us Girls #368 "Encouragement" Word Week Challenge into the design.

If you have not already visited the above challenge sites, I hope you will have a chance to do so- fabulous inspiration from my DT Sisters at the SCS Sketch Gallery as well as the other challenge sites!

To create this card:

Ink the Inkadinkado® Horses clear stamp image with Basic Black Archival Ink and stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ with My Favorite Things (MFT) Stitched Square STAX Dies to cut out the image and color with Derwent® Watercolor Pencils and an AquaPainter™.

Mount the die cut panel onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Trim and mount a piece of retired Stampin’ Up! (SU!) Outlaw Designer Series Paper (DSP) onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, add the horizontal elements of the sketch (I used scrap pieces of Outlaw DSP mounted onto the MFT Horizontal Stitched Strip Die cut from Early Espresso cardstock).

Mount another piece of the retired Outlaw DSP onto a rectangle stitched die cut from Early Espresso cardstock (I used the MFT Stitched Rectangle STAX Dies and split the layered panel in half to make it large enough for the layer on the sketch.

Adhere the rectangle layered die cut onto the card front panel, add the knotted polished hemp twine and mount the entire background panel onto the card base.

Stamp the sentiment from the retired SU! Absolutely Fabulous stamp set with Basic Black Archival Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, create the banner points with the retired Hexagon Punch and mount onto Early Espresso cardstock (trimming and using the Hexagon Punch to create the banner points as well).

Adhere the sentiment to the stamped focal image panel, add dimensional foam to the back and mount onto the card front.

Add the photo corners to the focal image (FYI- I created the photo corners from scrap pieces of Early Espresso cardstock that had been die cut with the MFT Stitched Square and Rectangle STAX Dies that were in my stash and just hand cut to create the corners :-)).

To finish off the card, I added a bit of shimmer with a clear glitter pen to the background panel behind the horse image and a few pearls to the corners.

This card will be sent to a special young lady in our lives- she is absolutely fabulous and, of course, loves horses!

Stamp Sets:  Absolutely Fabulous (retired SU!), Horses  (Inkadinkado®)

Ink/Medium: Basic Black Archival Ink, Derwent® Watercolor Pencils, Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Designer Paper:  Very Vanilla, Early Espresso; retired Outlaw DSP- all SU!

Accessories/Tools:  Big Shot™, MFT Stitched Dies- Horizontal Strip, Squares, Rectangles; retired Hexagon Punch (SU!), Polished Hemp Twine, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you can gather your supplies and join us for the SCS SC618 Sketch Challenge this week!

Mixed Media Watercolor Wonder Roses

Hi Friends!!

This Mixed Media card was created using the Can You Case It #117 Color Challenge along with the Watercooler #65 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

This was a fairly simple card to make since the retired Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper (DSP) roses are the main focus and with a bit of fussy cutting, your images are ready to go!

If you have not visited the above galleries yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- great inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Die cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock using the My Favorite Things® (MFT) Blueprints 13 Stitched Rectangle Die and repeatedly stamp the Notable Notions script stamp with Very Vanilla Craft Ink (it is hard to see this in the photo but it is there :-)).

Carefully cut the flowers from the retired Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper and place several roses onto the die cut rectangle (excluding the large one on the left and the central one on the right- set aside for mounting later).

Cover all of the flowers (including the two set aside) along with the background panel with Tim Holtz® Distress Crazing Collage Medium, allow the medium to dry and mount the panel onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Another view- a bit easier to see the background stamp
and popped up flowers in the center :-)
Adhere a piece of 1” Black Satin Ribbon along with the cream colored Crochet Lace to the lower part of the panel, and mount the entire panel onto the Basic Black card base.

Add additional shadows to all of the petals on the roses (including the two set aside) with the retired Stampin’ Write Crisp Cantaloupe Marker and mount the two individual roses with dimensional foam.

Ink the sentiment from the retired Absolutely Fabulous set with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

Cut the sentiment out with the MFT Blueprints 16 Label Die and mount onto the ribbon with dimensional foam.

Add a few Pearls to the upper left hand and lower right hand corners to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Absolutely Fabulous, Notable Notions (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, retired Craft Very Vanilla; retired Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin’ Write Marker; Tim Holtz® Distress Collage Crazing Medium

Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, retired Watercolor Wonder DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, MFT Blueprints 16 & 20 Dies, 1” Black Satin Ribbon, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

Card for A Cause, Sketch and Colour Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

I am continuing to create cards for the Splitcoaststampers April 2016 MISSION- Cards for A Cause- this month, encouragement cards are being sent to the Miami VA Medical Center for the Homeless Veterans Program (see details here).

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am so thankful to have a chance to possibly give a little back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country and to think that they are now homeless and now in need.....I hope these cards that are donated will bring a bit of hope to the recipients and, there is still time, if you would like to send cards to this cause (again, please see details here- if you do not have a Splitcoaststampers’ sign-on, it is free to sign up).

Hopefully you will have a chance to visit the above mentioned challenge sites- so many wonderful Design Teams samples and entries!

To create this card:

Ink the train image from Traveler with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Trim the panel, color the train with the Stampin’ Write Sahara Sand marker and add distressing to the background with stamps from Timeless Textures (stamped with Sahara Sand Classic Ink).

Mount the panel onto Sahara Sand cardstock, trim and mount onto Night of Navy cardstock and distress with the retired Distressing Tool.

Ink the sentiment from the retired set, Absolutely Fabulous with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Create the banner points on the end with the Hexagon Punch (soon to be retired), mount onto Night of Navy cardstock, trim and punch the banner points again with the Hexagon Punch and add texture with Sahara Sand Classic Ink and the Timeless Textures stamp.

Create the background for the next layer using the suitcase, journal and camera from Traveler, stamp onto a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock with Night of Navy Classic Ink (masking the images as you stamp onto the panel).

Trim the stamped background, mount onto Night of Navy cardstock and distress the edges with the Distressing Tool.

The larger background was created with stamps from the Timeless Textures set, stamped with Sahara Sand Classic Ink onto Sahara Sand cardstock, distress the edges with the Distressing Tool and mount onto the Night of Navy card front.

Ink the Timeless Textures images with Night of Navy and stamp onto a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock, cut with the Big Shot™ using the Circle Framelits™ (also cutting the same size circle from Night of Navy cardstock), mount the stamped Calypso Coral circle die cut onto the Night of Navy circle and distress the edges of both with the Distressing Tool.

Layer the card per the sketch and add the Calypso Coral banners (created with the Banner Triple Punch and retired Crimper Tool).

Stamp Sets: Traveler, Timeless Textures, Absolutely Fabulous (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Night of Navy, Sahara Sand; Stampin’ Write Marker- Sahara Sand

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Sahara Sand, Night of Navy, retired Calypso Coral DSP

You're Absolutely Fabulous- Cards for a Worthy Cause

Hi Stampers!

I have been busy this week creating cards for the Splitcoaststampers' April 2016 MISSION-Cards for A Cause.

This month, encouragement cards are being sent to the Miami VA Medical Center for the Homeless Veterans Program (see details here).

I am honored to have a chance to possibly give a little back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country and to think that they are now homeless and in medical need.....if you would like to send cards to this cause, there is still time  (again, please see details here- if you do not have a Splitcoaststampers’ sign-on, it is free to sign up).

I have several cards finished for this card drive and will share over the next few days- this one was designed using the Mojo443 Sketch Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers’ WT578 “Shabby Chic”Challenge.

To create this card:

Ink the Landscape Silhouettes image from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps (SNSS) using Early Espresso Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock (I used my MISTI® Tool so I could stamp several times for a very dark image).

Use the 1 ¼” Circle Punch with sticky note paper to create a mask for the “sun/moon” and place over the stamped image.

With a Sponge Dauber and Dusty Durango Classic Ink (retired) apply ink to the sky , lift up the mask and sponge a bit onto the sun/moon.

Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.

The background layers were created using retired Stampin’ Up! Outlaw Designer Series Paper (DSP), distressing the edges with the Distressing Tool and mounting onto Early Espresso cardstock (some of the background pieces were die cut with stitched square or rectangle dies).

The card base is retired Dusty Durango cardstock and the star border was cut from Very Vanilla cardstock with the SNSS Hearts and Stars Scallop Border Die Set.

The other three stars were cut from My Favorite Things (MFT) Stitched Stars STAX Dies and the smaller two stars are layered onto Wplus9 Clear Cut Stacker Stars Dies.

The tiny stars (Very Vanilla) in the centers of the stitched stars are the negative die cut pieces from the SNSS Stars Scalloped Border Die- woohoo, nothing went to waste!

The sentiment is from a retired Stampin’ Up! set, Absolutely Fabulous and the banner points were created with the Hexagon Punch.

Stamp Sets: Absolutely Fabulous (retired Stampin’ Up!), Landscape Silhouettes (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)

Ink: Early Espresso, retired Dusty Durango, Faber-Castell® Black Pitt Pen Marker

Paper/Cardstock:  Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, retired Dusty Durango, retired Outlaw DSP

Accessories: MISTI® Tool, Big Shot™, retired Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder,  Heart and Stars Scallop Border Dies (SNSS), Stitched Rectangle, Square and Star STAX Dies (MFT),  Clear Stacker Stars Dies (Wplus9), Distressing Tool, Sponge Dauber, Sticky Note Paper, Punches-  Banner Triple, Hexagon, 1 ¼” Circle

If you have any questions, please let me know in the comment section- I truly appreciate your visits and comments- they are such an encouragement to me!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend- hugs and God Bless!

TCC53 Blessed to Know You

Hi Friends!!

Woohoo!!  It is time for the new challenge at The Card Concept and I was inspired by the bright, beautiful colors along with the texture for my Mixed Media card.

Just a reminder that The Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a number of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media.

I hope you have a chance to visit us at The Card Concept and check out the rest of our Design Team samples as well as the Global Design Project and Splitcoaststampers challenge sites- fabulous inspiration from all!!

To create this card:

On a piece of Watercolor Paper, apply Gelatos®- Bubblegum, Aqua Dolce, Cotton Candy and Green Tea, spritz with water and use your finger or a sponge dauber to move the Gelatos® around on the paper.
Speed up the drying process with the Heat Tool.

Spritz more water onto the background panel, apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Worn Lipstick, Broken China, Picked Raspberry and Mowed Lawn Distress Stains onto a craft mat, lay the moistened background panel into the ink, tilt the panel to allow the inks to spread across the page and heat with the Heat Tool.

Originally I inked the Hero Arts® Stamp Your Own Plant leaves with Mowed Grass Distress Stain and inked directly onto the panel.  FYI- While this looked OK, I was not completely satisfied, so I dried the panel with the Heat Tool, used the Embossing Buddy® to prep the page, and stamped the different leaves from Stamp Your Own Plant with Versamark® Ink and heat embossed the leaves with Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder.

I embossed the leaves in several steps so that they have the appearance of overlapping one another.

Use the Big Shot™ with the My Favorite Things® (MFT) Die-namics™ Stitched Cover-Up Vertical Companion Die and cut the Cover-Up from Basic Black cardstock.

De-static the Cover-Up die cut with the Embossing Buddy®, ink the sentiments from the Blessed (Mama Elephant) stamp set and Absolutely Fabulous (retired Stampin’ Up!) with Versamark™ ink and heat emboss with Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder.

Mount the embossed Cover-Up onto the embossed watercolor panel and adhere the entire panel to the Melon Mambo card base using dimensional foam.

Stamp Sets: Absolutely Fabulous (retired Stampin’ Up!), Stamp Your Own Plant (Hero Arts), Blessed (Mama Elephant)

Ink: Versamark™, Gelatos®- Bubblegum, Aqua Dolce, Cotton Candy and Green Tea , Ranger® Tim Holtz® Worn Lipstick, Broken China, Picked Raspberry and Mowed Lawn Distress Stains

Paper: Watercolor, Basic Black, Melon Mambo

Accessories: Big Shot™, MFT Die-namics™ Stitched Cover-Up Vertical Companion Die, Embossing Buddy®, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope you can gather your supplies and pick a style to create your own card for our TCC53 "Bright and Fresh" gallery at The Card Concept!
