TCC148 Be Strong in the Lord

Hi Friends!

Welcome to The Card Concept #148 {Sweetheart Sweets} Challenge!

Isn’t this a scrumptious looking plate of cupcakes?

I was inspired by the beautiful pinks and browns to create a Shabby and Vintage Mixed Media card using some of my older stamp sets (which as many of you know, is one of my personal goals).

I decided to try to create a card that did not require any dies (sort of a "back to basic" style card) :-)

Many of you know that I love to participate with online challenges  and am participating with the Word Art Wednesday #477-478 “Anything Goes” Challenge (one of my favorite challenge sites:-).

Again, if you have not had a chance to visit The Card Concept or the Word Art Wednesday challenge site yet, I encourage you to do so- gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

On a silicone or glass mat, “smoosh” ink from Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink pads onto the surface, lightly spritz with water and press a piece of white cardstock into the ink.

Lift the cardstock panel up from the ink (tilting to allow the ink to spread across the panel) and repeat until you are satisfied with the background.

Ink a large and small splatter stamp with Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide ink, stamp onto the panel.

Use a heat tool to dry the panel.

Ink the scroll image and the script image with Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink, stamp repeatedly onto the background panel.

De-static the lower edge with an embossing powder tool, stamp the Scripture sentiment with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.

Trim the panel to approx. 3.75” x 5” and tear the upper right-hand and lower left-hand edges by hand.  Use a distress tool to distress all the sides of the panel.

Adhere to a piece of white cardstock, trim to approx. 4” x 5 ¼” and mount onto a piece of 4 ¼” x 5 ½” espresso cardstock.  Mount the entire panel onto a white card base.

De-static a scrap piece of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool, stamp the butterflies and heat emboss with clear embossing powder (using the same steps as above for the Scripture).

Use a coordinating punch to punch out the butterflies (or fussy cut).

Mount onto the card front and add a few rhinestones to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Bliss, Grunge Elements, Notable Notions, Papillon Potpourri, Timeless Textures (all retired Stampin’ Up!), Scripture Collection 3 (Divinity Designs LLC)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide- Ground Espresso, Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Worn Lipstick

Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Early Espresso (Stampin’ Up!)

Tools/Accessories: Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Distressing Tool, Rhinestones, retired Butterfly Punch (Stampin’ Up!)

Thanks again for taking the time to visit!  We would love for you to create a card based on our inspiration photo and join us at The Card Concept! The challenge is open until February 15th at noon EST.

TCC106 Be Still and Know

Hi Friends!

It's time for The Card Concept #106 {Pink Party} Challenge- our first challenge of the New Year! Thanks for playing along with us over the Christmas/New Year holiday- we loved seeing all of pictures of your Christmas trees and/or your favorite card design from 2018 shared in our last challenge.

Isn't this a gorgeous scene?  I was inspired by the black and white along with the shades of pink to create a very quick vintage style Mixed Media card using an image from the current Stampin' Up! hostess set, Very Vintage, a script image from the retired SU! Notable Notions and a verse sentiment from the Stamp Simply Words of Encouragement set.

Just a reminder that the Card Concept is a bi-weekly challenge that has an inspiration photo along with a suggestion of design styles that you can choose from to create your card- Clean and Simple, Clean and Graphic, Clean and Layered, Shabby Chic, Freestyle Collage, Classy and Elegant and Mixed Media (or you can combine several styles for your own style).

If you have not had a chance to visit us at The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I hope you will find time to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

1). De-static two pieces of white cardstock with an embossing powder tool.   Using Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, stamp the floral image from Very Vintage (Stampin’ Up!) on one panel and on the other, stamp the sentiment verse from Words of Encouragement (Simply Stamps).   Apply clear embossing powder to both and heat set with a heat tool.

2). Once the embossing powder has cooled, watercolor the floral image using water-based markers (I used Zig® Clean Color Markers) and die cut both images using stitched circle dies. Mount the images onto circles die cut from black cardstock.

3). Fold a piece of 4 ¼” x 11” extra thick white cardstock in half for the card base.  Using a stencil brush with a chevron stencil, apply distress oxide ink to the background.  Lightly spritz a bit of water over the background, tap with a paper towel and dry with a heat tool. Stamp the script image from Notable Notions sporadically over the background using distress ink (stamping off the image before stamping onto the cardstock).

4). Mount the focal image circle and sentiment to the card front with dimensional foam, lightly stencil around the image and over the sentiment.

5). Finish off the card by adding a few pearls and applying a bit of shimmer to the larger flower petals with a clear glitter pen.

Stamp Sets: Very Vintage (2018-2019 hostess set- Stampin’ Up!), Notable Notions (retired Stampin’ Up!), Words of Encouragement (Stamp Simply)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black, Tim Holtz® Black Soot Distress and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide,  Zig® Clean Color Markers- Light Pink, Pink, Light Green, Green; Spectrum Noir™ Clear Glitter Pen

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black (Stampin’ Up!), Thick White cardstock from my stash

Tools/Accessories:  Big Shot™, My Favorite Things Stitched Circle STAX, Circle Dies (retired SU!), Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Memory Box™ Modern Chic Stencil, Claritystamps™ Stencil Brush, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you will join us for our {Pink Party}Challenge at The Card Concept- we would love to see your card in our gallery!!

The Heavens Declare The Glory of God

Hi Friends!!

I am so excited to announce that I am the Guest Designer for the Retro RubberChallenge Blog #67 “Over the Rainbow” Challenge!

A few weeks ago, my card was chosen as their winner and one of the perks of winning is that you are invited to be a Guest Designer on a future challenge- what a wonderful honor!

I decided to create a colorful simple Mixed Media card using a verse sentiment from the current Our Daily Bread Designs Scripture 9 stamp set along with retired Stampin’ Up! sets- Off the Grid, Stipple Butterfly and Notable Notions.  All of these stamps are several years old and I absolutely loved having a chance to play around with them again!

If you have not already had a chance to visit the above challenge sites, I hope you will do so- they all have wonderful Design Teams as well as gorgeous inspiration in their galleries.

To create this card:

1). Ink the Stipple Butterfly image with Versafine™ Onyx Black ink, stamp onto a piece of white cardstock paper, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

2). Using Zig® Clean Real Color Markers along with an AquaPainter™, watercolor the butterfly image and fussy-cut the image.  Add a few white highlights to the wings with the Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen.

3). On a piece of Strathmore™ Bristol Smooth Paper, use the same Zig® Clean Real Color Markers, add a bit of color, spritz with water and dry with the Heat Tool. Splash a bit of water onto the panel, let the water absorb before lifting with a paper towel and heat with the Heat Tool.

4). Trim the panel, ink the retired Off the Grid background stamp with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink over the background as well as the retired Notable Notions script image.

5). Stamp the sentiment from Scripture Collection 9 with archival black ink and heat set with the Heat Tool.

6). Trim the panel and mount onto a piece of black cardstock, trim once more and mount onto the white card base.

7). Mount the fussy cut butterfly to the corner and add a few drops of Nuvo™ Rosewater and Orange Marmalade Jewel Drops to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Scripture Collection 9 (Our Daily Bread Designs); Stipple Butterfly, Off the Grid, Notable Notions (all retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine™ Onyx Black Ink, Zig® Clean Color Real Brush Markers- Yellow, Orange, Blue, Pink;  Nuvo™ Jewel Drops- Rosewater, Orange Marmalade; Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen

Paper: Bristol Smooth, Basic Black, Whisper White

Accessories:  AquaPainter™, Heat Tool

Thanks again for visiting- I hope you will find some time to pull out some of your older stamps and join us at Retro Rubber Challenge Blog! Hugs and please stop by again soon!

Mixed Media Watercolor Wonder Roses

Hi Friends!!

This Mixed Media card was created using the Can You Case It #117 Color Challenge along with the Watercooler #65 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

This was a fairly simple card to make since the retired Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper (DSP) roses are the main focus and with a bit of fussy cutting, your images are ready to go!

If you have not visited the above galleries yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- great inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Die cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock using the My Favorite Things® (MFT) Blueprints 13 Stitched Rectangle Die and repeatedly stamp the Notable Notions script stamp with Very Vanilla Craft Ink (it is hard to see this in the photo but it is there :-)).

Carefully cut the flowers from the retired Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper and place several roses onto the die cut rectangle (excluding the large one on the left and the central one on the right- set aside for mounting later).

Cover all of the flowers (including the two set aside) along with the background panel with Tim Holtz® Distress Crazing Collage Medium, allow the medium to dry and mount the panel onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.

Another view- a bit easier to see the background stamp
and popped up flowers in the center :-)
Adhere a piece of 1” Black Satin Ribbon along with the cream colored Crochet Lace to the lower part of the panel, and mount the entire panel onto the Basic Black card base.

Add additional shadows to all of the petals on the roses (including the two set aside) with the retired Stampin’ Write Crisp Cantaloupe Marker and mount the two individual roses with dimensional foam.

Ink the sentiment from the retired Absolutely Fabulous set with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink and stamp onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

Cut the sentiment out with the MFT Blueprints 16 Label Die and mount onto the ribbon with dimensional foam.

Add a few Pearls to the upper left hand and lower right hand corners to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Absolutely Fabulous, Notable Notions (both retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, retired Craft Very Vanilla; retired Crisp Cantaloupe Stampin’ Write Marker; Tim Holtz® Distress Collage Crazing Medium

Paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, retired Watercolor Wonder DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, MFT Blueprints 16 & 20 Dies, 1” Black Satin Ribbon, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I hope you have a wonderful weekend, my friends!

HYCCT1529 Thank Pink

Hi Again Friends!

This card was created for the Splitcoaststampers’  “Hope You Can Cling To” HYCCT1529 Mary’s  “Thank Pink” Challenge to create a thank you card using "pinks".

Just a reminder- the Hope You Can Cling To Challenges at Splitcoaststampers is a yearly card drive in October for the MD Anderson Cancer Center.  The challenge is a daily one (with multiple challenges on a few of the days) for a total of 40 challenges in one month and the goal is not only to create the cards but also mail them to the center to be used by the patients undergoing treatment.

It is a very worthy card drive and some of my cards have been sent to friends that are struggling with cancer and the remainder will be sent to the center in early November.

For this fairly simple card, I decided to use the brand new Stampin' Up! October 15 My Paper Pumpkin exclusive stamp set, Blissful Bouquet along with a few other stamps to create my “Thank Pink” card.

I sure hope you have a chance to visit the HYCCT1529 gallery and possibly gather your supplies to join in on the fun for this worthwhile card drive!!

This Mixed Media card took a bit of time due to the masking, fussy-cutting and painting but it was a lot of fun to create!

First stamp the floral image, mask to add the additional flowers and leaves, color with markers and the AquaPainter™, add Frost White Shimmer Paint to the petals and fussy-cut one of the flowers for additional dimension.

Add splatter and script to the background, trim and mount to cardstock layers, add White Acrylic Paint to the flower stamen ends and Pearls to the flower centers to finish off the card.

*** FYI- I tried Pink Pirouette for the background splatter, but it stamped almost a light orange color-oops! Possibly my grunge stamp was not clean so I switched to Melon Mambo, stamping off once before applying to the card :-) ***

Stamp Sets:  Blissful Bouquet (Stampin’ Up! MPP), Gorgeous Grunge, Notable Notions (retired)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette; Stampin’ Write Markers- Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand; Frost White Shimmer Paint, Titanium White Acrylic Paint

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Melon Mambo

Accessories: AquaPainter™, Pearls

I will be sharing a few more of the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge cards this evening (the challenge month is over today and I finished six cards yesterday and have three more posts for those cards plus three more challenge cards to create for today's final challenges :-))

Thanks again for visiting- I hope you have had a chance to visit the HYCCT galleries and possibly time to leave some comment “love” for the participants- wonderful designs and inspiration from all for this very worthy card drive!  Have a blessed weekend, my friends!

CC553 So Thankful For You

Hi Friends!!

This is the first of two cards created for the Splitcoaststampers’  CC553 Color Challenge with a dessert option of Pearls or Rhinestones (an easy dessert option for me- lol! :-)).

I wanted to create a non-floral card and chose this wonderful Boho Cross image from Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD).

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit both galleries to check out the wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Ink the Boho Cross  (ODBD) using Stāz-On® and stamp the image onto a piece of watercolor paper.

Color the cross with Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers.

Carefully brush Mod Podge® over the colored cross and allow to dry (this acts as a mask).

Spritz the watercolor paper with water and using Bermuda Bay and Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink,  apply with an AquaPainter™ and allow the colors to blend (use a Heat Tool to dry the ink).

Ink the solid splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Calypso Coral Classic Ink and stamp over the background.

Ink the large splatter stamp using Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink and stamp onto the background.

Ink the retired Notable Notions script background stamp using Bermuda Bay Classic Ink and stamp over the background.

Use the Big Shot™ with the My Favorite Things ™ (MFT)  Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the image, mount onto Calypso Coral cardstock and trim.
Another view to show the dimension from the side

Stamp the sentiment from Doily Blessings (ODBD) using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Vellum,  trim and add to the front of the cross image using Two-Way Glue.

Add the ¼” Calypso Coral Stitched Satin Ribbon to the corners (wrapping the ribbon around the corners to the back).

Cut a rectangle from Big Shot™ with the MFT Stitched Rectangle Die from Elegant Eggplant cardstock.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock with the Boho Chic Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, trim and mount onto a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock, trim and mount onto the Elegant Eggplant card base.

Mount the Elegant Eggplant stitched rectangle onto the card front, mount the cross image onto the card front using dimensional foam.
Add Pearls to the ribbon to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Boho Cross, Doily Blessings (ODBD), Gorgeous Grunge, Notable Notions - both Stampin’ Up!

Ink: Stāz-On Jet Black, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive; Stampin’ Write Markers- Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive, Sahara Sand

Paper: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Elegant Eggplant

Accessories: Big Shot™, Boho Chic Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, MFT Stitched Rectangle Dies,  Mod Podge®, Water Spritzer Bottle, Pearls

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- I will be sharing the second card that I designed with this color combination shortly.

HYCCT1506 Happy Anniversary Hearts

Hi Again Friends!

Again, I hope you have a chance to check out the challenge sites- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Using My Digital Studio (MDS) print out the three hearts from the Always brush stamp set (reducing in size) onto Whisper White cardstock.

Carefully cut out the hearts, use a Sponge Dauber to apply Real Red Classic Ink to each heart, de-static with the Embossing Buddy®, apply Stampin’ Emboss® Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Create the background by spritzing a piece of Whisper White cardstock with water and dropping Brusho® Brilliant Red, Purple and Turquoise Crystal Colours over the panel and spritz with water again (actually the background on the card is the result of pressing into the original panel that had excessive powder and water- this background was a bit softer in color and not so saturated...I am still experimenting with Brusho®)

Dry the Brusho® background with the Heat To
Full view to show the background and sketch :-)
ol and stamp the script stamp from the retired Notable Notions using Stāz-On® Jet Black  Ink.

Trim the background panel into thirds and adhere the left and right panel directly onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock.

Mount the center panel onto a strip of Basic Black cardstock and add the horizontal scrap pieces of Basic Black cardstock.

De-static a piece of Basic Black  cardstock with the Embossing Buddy®, stamp the sentiment from the retired hostess set, Express Yourself with Versamark™ ink, apply Stampin’ Emboss® White Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.

Adhere the sentiment strip to the center panel and add to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the embossed hearts to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals® and mount the entire panel onto the Whisper White card base to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Express Yourself, Notable Notions (both retired Stampin’ Up!), Always (MDS version)

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black, Versamark™, Real Red; Brusho® Crystal Colours- Brilliant Red, Purple,Turquoise

SC528 Sending Love & Sympathy

Hi Again Stampers!!

Here is another quick sympathy card that I created from scraps this past weekend using the Splitcoaststampers’ SC528 Sketch Challenge (see details here and thegallery here).

Again, if you have not already done so, I hope you will find the time to visit the above site to check out the wonderful Design Team samples as well as the wonderful gallery!

To create this card:

I already had the Pool Party background panel embossed with the retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder as well as the focal image stamped and colored from a previous project.

Mount the focal image onto a piece of Pool Party cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Island Indigo cardstock.

Ink the retired Notable Notions script stamp using Island Indigo Classic Ink and stamp repeatedly on a 2 ¼” square of Pool Party cardstock, mount onto a piece of Island Indigo cardstock, trim and mount on an angle behind the layered focal image.

Stamp the sentiment using Island Indigo Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto Island Indigo cardstock, create the “photo” corners  with a  1” Square Punch and mount the corners to the panel.

*** To create the "photo" corners, punch the corner edge of the punch on the corner of the cardstock, toss the punched piece, move the punch up a bit and punch again- this will give you the square "photo" corner, angle the edges with your scissors and you are done :-) ***

Adhere the layered sentiment to the embossed Pool Party background panel, mount onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and add the panel of retired World Spectacular Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the paper “lace” border.

Mount the entire panel to the Island Indigo card base and add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® along with the Pearls to the photo corners to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Love & Sympathy, Notable Notions, Nature’s Wonders

Ink:  Island Indigo, Stampin’ Write Markers- Pool Party, Island Indigo, Sahara Sand

Paper: Whisper White, Island Indigo, Pool Party; retired World Spectacular DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder,  Doily Border Die (SNSS), 1” Square Punch, Pearls

Thanks again for visiting- have a wonderful weekend, my friends!
