TCC145 Festive Celebration

Hi Friends!

Welcome to the #145 {Festive Celebration} Challenge at The Card Concept!

I was inspired by the overall elegance as well as the black and golds in our inspiration photo to create a Clean and Layered card using Stamp Simply stamps (along with retired papers and embellishments from my massive stash :-)).

I am also participating with the Double Trouble #72 “Something, Anything and Everything” Challenge and the WordArt Wednesday #468-#469 “Anything Goes” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit The Card Concept or the other challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so- fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

For the background panel- die cut the stitched white rectangle from a 4” x 5 1/4” piece of white cardstock and set aside.).

Layer a piece of brown/gold metallic designer paper (approx. 3.75” x 5” ) onto the 4” x 5 ¼” white panel (this will cover your die cut area from above) and mount onto a piece of 4 ¼” x 5 ½” piece of black cardstock.  FYI- All the designer papers used for this card were from the retired Mocha Morning DSP from Stampin’ Up!

Layer a piece of 7/8” black satin ribbon over the background panel, wrap the ends behind the panel and mount the panel onto a white card front.

De-static the upper right hand corner of the stitched rectangle die cut (from the step above) with an embossing powder tool, stamp the sentiment from Scripture for Graduation & Beyond using Versafine Onyx Black ink, apply clear embossing powder and heat set with a heat tool.  Mount the panel onto black cardstock, trim close to the edge.

Layer a piece of black flocked designer paper onto black cardstock (both of these were in my stash), mount onto the white stitched die cut (from the step above), trim off the ends flush with the white layered panel.

Mount the layered stamped panel directly onto the card front.

Die cut the numbers from gold metallic paper and die cut two additional numbers of each from black cardstock (to build up the thickness of each number).

Add the numbers to the card front using chipboard (or dimensional foam).

Use a clear glitter marker to add shimmer to the gold metallic numbers and add the rhinestone embellishments to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Scripture for Graduation & Beyond (Stamp Simply)

Ink/Mediums: Versafine Onyx Black, Zig Wink of Stella- Clear Glitter Marker

Paper/Cardstock: White, Black; Gold Metallic (from my stash- not sure of manufacturer), retired Mocha Morning Designer Series Paper (Stampin’ Up!)

Tools/Accessories: Gemini, Jr., Dies- My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle A2 STAX- Set 1, Numbers (retired Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps),  Heat Tool, Embossing Powder Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Silver Rhinestones, retired Rhinestone Embellishment (Stampin’ Up!), 7/8” Black Satin Ribbon (Offray)

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by!  We would love for you to create a card based on our {Festive Celebration} photo and and join us at The Card Concept! The challenge is open until December 14th at noon EST.

Happy New Year!! The Sky's the Limit :-)

Hello Friends!

Woohoo- it’s time for the new SUO138 “Into the New Year” Challenge!

Since I do not own any of the traditional New Year's "celebration" type stamps (at least not current ones), I decided to create a “sneak peek” card using some of the new items from the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog as well as the 2016 Sale-A-Bration Catalog.

I have also incorporated the Paper Craft Crew PCCCS174 Sketch Challenge in my design- my thoughts were that the plane could be spelling out the “Happy New Year”- lol!!

I hope you will have a chance to check out my sister Design Team member samples at the SU-Only Challenge site as well as the fantastic Design Team samples at the Paper Craft Crew site- wonderful inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ with the new World Traveler Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock (inking the embossing folder with Sahara Sand Classic Ink before inserting the cardstock and embossing).
Trim the embossed panel and mount onto the Basic Black card base.

Ink the plane image from the Limited Edition Sale-A-Bration (SAB) set, Sky is the Limit using Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, color with Stampin’ Write Markers (I used Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake), add some distressing with Crumb Cake Classic Ink and the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge, trim and mount onto Gold Foil cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes with Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, distress with Crumb Cake Classic Ink and the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge, create the banner ends with the Banner Punch, mount onto Basic Black cardstock and punch the ends to match.

Add the Gold Foil Banner Punch pieces to the ends of the sentiment, adhere Gold Trim looped behind the sentiment and mount the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Adhere a piece of the Going Places Designer Series Paper (DSP) onto Basic Black cardstock, add the embossed Basic Black pieces (with the Chevron Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, mount the embossed black strips onto Gold Foil scrap pieces, add the strips to the embossed Sahara Sand card front and mount the Going Places DSP panel.

Add the plane focal image with Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

After I posted my first design (without the numbers to the SUO Challenges site), I decided to cut some numbers with the retired GoGo Boots Sizzlits™ Alphabet Die Set and added to the card front ...I think the numbers make it look more festive, don’t you?

Stamp Sets:  Sky is the Limit, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Gorgeous Grunge

Ink:  Stāz-On® Jet Black, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand; Stampin’ Write Markers- Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand

Happy New Year's Eve and Happy New Year- 2015!!

Happy New Year's Eve Stampers!

I hope all of you have a safe Happy New Year's Eve and wonderful 2015!  It has truly been a blessing to me to see how many of you visit my blog and I read and treasure each one of your comments :-)

2014 has been a bit of a tough year for us since my husband was diagnosed with cancer in the fall, but Lord Willing, he is handling the chemo well so far and we are praying that he will be in remission once the chemo is finished in the spring :-)   We know that all things work together for good to those who love Him and we are resting in His Promises :-)

This card was the first one I originally created for the  SUO113 “Project Life by Stampin’ Up!®” Challengeand decided to hold it one extra day for the New Year :-)

I decided to incorporate a few of my favorite weekly challenges as well- the FMS167 Challenge at Freshly Made Sketches and the SC94 Inspiration Photo at Stampin’ Celebration.

If you have not already done so, I hope you will find the time to check the rest of the Design Team projects at all of the challenge sites and come join in on the fun!

To create this card:
Mount a piece of Hello Honey Moonlight Designer Series Paper (DSP) to a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and mount onto the Whisper White card base.
Trim the Project Life® by Stampin’ Up!® Smoky Slate plaid card from the Everyday Adventure collection in half and punch along the bottom with the Spiral Border Punch.
Punch a piece of Basic Black cardstock with the Spiral Border Punch (I used a scrap strip wide enough for the vertical panel created above) and adhere behind the bottom portion of the PLxSU plaid panel, offset just a bit to create a shadow effect.
Add the vertical punched panel to the card front per the sketch.
Trim two additional Project Life® by Stampin’ Up!® cards from the Everyday Adventure collection (Smoky Slate Polka Dot and the Days of the Week), mount the Smoky Slate Polka Dot piece onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock, trim and adhere onto the Days of the Week panel.   Mount this panel to the card front.
FYI- I had the globe image from The Open Sea already printed and ready to go from a previous My Digital Studio (MDS) card project (in my organized scrap bag)- you can also stamp the image onto Whisper White cardstock using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink.
Punch out the globe with the 2 ½” Circle Punch and punch out another 2 ½” Circle from Basic Black cardstock (split the black circle in half and mount behind the globe image).
Create the Basic Black bow using the new Bow Builder Punch and add the Smoky Slate button to the center (use a small silver of Basic Black cardstock to mimic thread in the button).   Add the globe image to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.
Use the Big Shot™ with the retired GoGo Boots Sizzlits™ to cut out the numbers from Smoky Slate cardstock and add to the card front.
Stamp the sentiment from the 2015 Sale-A-Bration set, A Happy Thing, using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and create the banner using the Hexagon Punch.   Mount onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and create the banner points, again with the Hexagon Punch.
Add the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card
Stamp Sets:  The Open Sea (MDS version), A Happy Thing
Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black; Printer Ink- Black
Paper/Cardstock:  Project Life® by Stampin’ Up!® Everyday Adventure, Basic Black, Whisper White, Smoky Slate
Accessories:  Big Shot™, retired GoGo Boots Sizzlits™, Punches- Bow Builder,  Hexagon and Spiral Border; Smoky Slate button,

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by – I sincerely hope that all of you have a fabulous and blessed 2015!

Happy New Year! Imagine the Possiblities :-)

Happy New Year Stampers!

It’s time for the new SUO87 SU-Only Challenge- the theme is “Colors of January” and I decided to add The Friday Mashup! FM140 Challenge.

When I think of January colors, I think of the New Year along with the elegant colors of Gold, Silver, Black and White and in the Mid-Atlantic states, January generally means snow.

I decided to use My Digital Studio (MDS) to create this card but the stamp set would work just as well….

To create this card:
Open a blank 8.5 x 11 project in MDS insert the Lovely As A Tree image (the trees in a row), copy and insert a second image.  Change the color on the second image to Smoky Slate and position behind and to the left of the first image.
Insert the large pine image and enlarge a bit, copy and add a second image directly on top of the first image (to darken and thicken the pine needles).
Insert the sentiment from Word Play – re-size and position in the lower right hand corner.   Go to the Arrange tab and “group” the entire arrangement and re-size to fit your card. Print onto Whisper White cardstock and hand trim around the large pine (gently fold the top of the tree down) and use the trimmer to cut around the scene.
Create a mask from a sticky note and use a Sponge Dauber to apply Smoky Slate Classic Ink for snow banks and in the sky area.
Adhere to a trimmed piece of Basic Black cardstock and again onto a trimmed piece of Silver Foil paper.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Trim and mount onto a Basic Black card front.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Typeset Alphabet Bigz™ Original Die to cut the “2014” out of Gold Foil paper.  Emboss the numbers along with a scrap strip of Gold Foil paper with the Big Shot™ and the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.
Adhere the embossed Gold Foil paper strips to the sides of the card front (I used Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive) and mount the tree image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.   Add the 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow to the lower left hand corner of the image.
Punch a circle from Basic Black cardstock using the ¾” Circle Punch and adhere a Frosted Finishes Embellishment to the center.
Add the embossed Gold Foil numbers to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals® overlapping a bit and adhere the Frosted Finishes Embellishment in the center of the zero.
Mount the entire card panel to the Whisper White card base.
Stamp Sets: Lovely As A Tree, Word Play (both MDS)
Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Smoky Slate
Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver and Gold Foil
Accessories: Big Shot™, Stylish Stripes and Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Frosted Finishes Embellishment, Sponge Dauber, 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon
Thanks again for stopping by- I hope you will find the time to visit us and enter your project into the SU-Only SUO87 “January Colors” Challenge.

Have a Happy New Year!!
