CAS Joyful Tidings Star

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to create a card using the SR202 Stampin’ Royalty Holiday “No Embellishment”theme along with the PPA179 Pals Paper Arts colors and chose to create a Clean and Simple (CAS) card.

I always find it difficult to create a card without ribbon, pearls or some other embellishment so this was a real challenge for me :-)

If you have not visited either site yet, I hope you will find the time to do so- great projects by both Design Teams and other entries!

To create this card:

Stamp the Christmas Star using Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink onto a piece of the Crushed Curry sheet from the retired Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper (DSP)-   Carefully cut out by hand and score along the lines.

Using the AquaPainter™ lightly paint Frost White Shimmer Paint onto the star.

Adhere two strips of Rich Razzleberry scraps onto another piece of the Crushed Curry DSP (from the retired Razzleberry Lemonade DSP) and adhere this layer onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment from Christmas Messages using Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink under the layer and using the Big Shot™ with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, emboss the entire panel.

Mount onto a layer of Rich Razzleberry cardstock and again onto the Crumb Cake card base.

Add the star image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Christmas Star, Christmas Messages

Ink: Rich Razzleberry

Paper: Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry, retired Razzleberry Lemonade DSP

Christmas Deer- Three Challenges in One!

Hi Stampers!

I wanted to create a card for this week’s Just Add JAI190 Ink Just Add Masking and decided to use the PP171 Colors from The Paper Players and The Friday Mash Up! FM135 Animals withWoodgrain theme.

Each challenge has wonderful Design Teams as well as many entries for inspiration- I hope you will find the time to check them out!!

To create this card:
Stamp the deer image from Christmas Deer using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock.  Create a mask stamping the same image onto a piece of sticky note paper.  Cut out the image from the sticky note and place the mask over the deer.
Punch out a circle using the 1 ¼” Circle Punch from another sticky note and place the mask with the opening onto the cardstock and create the sun image using a Sponge Dauber with Crushed Curry Classic Ink.   Remove the mask and place the circle over the sponged sun  and lightly apply Tangerine Tango Classic Ink using Sponge Daubers over the sky.
Create additional masks using cardstock or sticky notes and apply Tangerine Tango Classic Ink lightly to create the snow banks.  Hold the mask in place on the background and stamp the line of trees using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.  Apply Frost White Shimmer Paint onver the snow (difficult to see in the photo :-)) and sponge the edges using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Deco Labels Framelits™ to cut out the image, layer onto the same size Deco Label frame from Chocolate Chip.  Cut the Chocolate Chip frame in half vertically and layer behind the focal image.
Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Sweater Weather DSP with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and layer onto a Chocolate Chip card base.

Using a few small pieces of the Crushed Curry DSP onto Chocolate Chip cardstock strips to create the horizontal strips and add to the embossed background panel.

Adhere the focal image onto the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals, add the die-cut snowflakes along with the retired Chocolate Chip Corduroy Button Brads along with the sentiment at the bottom to finish off the card.

Always- A CAS Color Challenge

Hi Stampers!!

While I had the colors out for this week’s PPA178 Pals Paper Arts Challenge, I decided to create a quick Clean and Simple (CAS) card using one of my favorite retired sets, Nature’s Wonders.

Again, if you have not had the chance to stop by to visit The PalsPaper Arts site yet, I hope you will find the time to do- so much inspiration!!

To create this card:

On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the floral image from Nature’s Wonder using Early Espresso Classic Ink and watercolor with the AquaPainter™ using Summer Starfruit Classic Ink for the center, Crisp Cantaloupe for the petals and Pistachio Pudding for the leaves.  Use the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write marker to fill in the background and add a few shadows and cut out the image leaving a margin around the edges.

On a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, apply the retired SU! rub-on from the retired set, Chateau Bella and adhere to the Whisper White card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add the focal floral image with Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Nature’s Wonders

Ink: Early Espresso, Crisp Cantaloupe, Summer Starfruit, Pistachio Pudding, Early Espresso Stampin’ Write marker

Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso

Accessories: retired Chateau Bella rub-on

Thanks again for taking the time to visit- have a great Tuesday!!

Vintage Soho Subway

Hi Stampers!

When I saw the PPA178colors at The Pals Paper Arts this week, I immediately thought of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper (DSP) and decided to pull out the page that has “Soho New York”.  I have found it a bit difficult to figure out what to do with this particular sheet of DSP, so I decided to create a vintage collage using previously stamped images along with distressing.

If you have not had the chance to stop by to visit The Pals Paper Arts site yet, I hope you will find the time – they have a fantastic Design Team and many wonderful entries each week!

To create this card:

Stamp the typewriter image from the retired set, Established Elegance and the Jumbo Wheel, Shop Around using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

“Fussy-cut” out the typewriter and cut the wheeled images apart.  Use the Distressing Tool to distress the Shop Around images and apply Crumb Cake and Early Espresso Classic Ink with Sponge Daubers to “antique” the paper on all of the images.

Cut the Soho Subway DSP apart, distress the edges and apply Early Espresso Classic Ink.

Use the Big Shot to emboss a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the Soho Subway Summer Starfruit DSP.

Distress the edges of the embossed Summer Starfruit DSP layer and sponge Early Espresso Classic Ink to both of the embossed panels.  Adhere the Crisp Cantaloupe embossed panel to the Whisper White card base.

Adhere the Summer Starfruit layer to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock (distress the edges of the Early Espresso as well), add the 5/8” Early Espresso Triple Satin Ribbon bow and add to the Crisp Cantaloupe card base.

Arrange the elements onto the page and add the rolled flowers with the Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Established Elegance, Shop Around (Jumbo Wheel)

Ink: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe, Early Espresso, Soho Subway DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders- Lacy Brocade (retired), Woodgrain;   Sponge Daubers, 1 ¼” Scallop Punch (for the rolled flowers), Pearls, retired 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon

This card was difficult to photograph and does look better IRL :-) - While I had the colors out, I created another card (a Clean and Simple -CAS) and will post shortly...

Thanks again for visiting-  I hope you have a terrific Tuesday!!

DD78 Vintage Christmas Poinsettia

Hi Stampers!

This week’s Dynamic Duo DD78 color combination “Subtly Yours” are soft neutral colors- Always Artichoke and Crumb Cake.    If you have not had a chance to do so yet, I hope you will find the time to visit the Dynamic Duos site and check out the rest of my fellow Design Team projects and come join us this week!!

I decided to combine a few retired sets to create my own  Christmas Designer Series Paper.  The background was created using a masking technique- with this technique you can create a one layer card or multiple layers, the choice is yours!   I love distressing edges of cardstock (helps to "de-stress" my life- lol!) and I enjoy creating vintage style cards so these colors were perfect for me :-)

To create this card:

On a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, stamp the poinsettia from Bells & Boughs using Early Espresso Classic Ink and stamp another image onto a sticky note.

Hand-cut the poinsettia out from the sticky note, place over the stamped poinsettia created in the above step, re-ink the stamp and stamp onto the Very Vanilla cardstock.  Repeat these steps to stamp one more poinsettia spray image.

Color the poinsettia images using Stampin’ Write markers- Always Artichoke on the pine needles and leaves, Crumb Cake for the poinsettia petals and Sahara Sand as an overall shadow. Apply Moonlight Smooch™ Pearlized Accent Ink to the petals.

Use the sticky note as a mask again and cover the poinsettia, ink portions of the retired Christmas Collage background stamp, lay the background paper face down over the inked areas, remove the mask and continue to repeat until the background is finished.

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges, layer onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, distress the edges of the Crumb Cake and use a Sponge Dauber on all of the distressed areas as well as aging the paper in the center a bit.

Stamp the sentiment using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, “huff” onto the Christmas Collage to re-moisten the ink and lay the sentiment over the background stamp.  Distress the edges with the Distressing Tool, punch out with the XL Oval Punch and layer onto two additional XL Oval layers from Always Artichoke cardstock.

Add the triple Satin Ribbon bow and mount onto the Always Artichoke card base.

Adhere the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Bells & Boughs, Christmas Collage

Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Stampin’ Write Markers- Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, Moonlight Smooch™ Pearlized Accent Ink

Paper: Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake

Accessories:  Distressing Tool, Sponge Dauber, XL Oval Punch, Distressing Tool, Pearls, Satin Ribbon (from my stash)

I hope you can take the time to join in on the fun and check out the rest of our Design Team's projects :

Thanks again for visiting!  Again, hoping all of you will have a chance to visit us at The Dynamic Duos and play along this week!!

Autumn Thanks- A Color and A Sketch Challenge

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to create a card using the great colors at this week's CQC214 ColourQ Challenge along with the fabulous FMS111 sketch from Freshly Made Sketches

With Thanksgiving on the horizon, I wanted to create an Autumn card and love this retired set, Close to Nature and pulled out retired rub-ons (I believe they were called Autumn Traditions).

If you have not visited the ColourQ or The Freshly Made Sketches site yet, I hope you will take the time to do so- again, fabulous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Stamp the image using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and color using Stampin’ Write markers in So Saffron, Early Espresso along with the retired colors, Bashful Blue and Dusty Durango.

Add a few highlights and veins to the leaves using the Chalk Marker and punch out with the 1 ¼” Square Punch.

Punch a piece of So Saffron using the Big Shot™ with the new Square Framelits™ (the 1 ½” frame) and punch out a piece of Early Espresso cardstock using the 1 ¾” Square Punch.

Place the rub-on at the lower right hand part of the Whisper White card front and rub-on thoroughly (not sure of the shelf life of the rub-ons but I have quite a bit from previous years so I will need to start using these :-))

Cut the banner piece from Early Espresso and So Saffron and add to the card front.  Use the Big Shot™ with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to create the horizontal piece on the banner.

Add the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock and onto the Whisper White card base to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Close to Nature (retired)

Ink: Early Espresso, Stampin’ Write markers- Early Espresso, So Saffron, retired- Bashful Blue, Dusty Durango; Chalk Marker, retired rub-ons

Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso, So Saffron

Accessories: Big Shot™, Squares Collection Framelits, Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders, Punches-1 1/4” Square

Touch of Nature- Another Card using the DD77 Color Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I hope all of you are having a fabulous Wednesday!!  I wanted to share another card that I created using this week’s  DD77 Dynamic Duos “Bright and Sassy” colors- if you would like to join in on our challenge, it is not too late (the challenge ends tomorrow at 12 noon PST)!

I created this card from scraps, previously printed images and punched/die cut items :-)   I like to reduce the bulk of my cards by using punches or dies to cut out the layers that will be hidden and use for future projects.  I recently took the time to organize all of these scraps by type (i.e.  2 ½” Circles, Chalk Talk, etc.), so it is now much easier to use them on a daily basis- love my scraps!

To create this card:

Using My Digital Studio (MDS), print out the flower image from the stamp brush set, Touch of Nature onto Whisper White cardstock and color using Stampin’ Write markers in Real Red, Bermuda Bay and Sahara Sand (for the shadows).   Use the Chalk Marker to create the highlights around the center of the flower.

Use the Big Shot™ and the Oval Collections Framelits™ to cut out the flower, add the 2 ½” Circle of Basic Black cardstock (previously embossed with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder).

Mount the flower image onto a Window Frames Framelit™ cut from Bermuda Bay cardstock and again onto a Chalk Talk Framelit™ cut from Basic Black cardstock.

Add the 5/8” Real Red Satin Ribbon Bow (retired) along with the sentiment from the MDS brush set, Simple Friendship (printed onto Whisper White cardstock and punched with the retired Small Oval Punch).

Use the Big Shot™ with the Chevron Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock and again onto a piece of Real Red cardstock and adhere to the Basic Black card base.

Add the focal image panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card.

I decided to leave this card as clean as I could- I really had to resist the urge to add Pearls or Rhinestones- lol!!

Stamp Sets:  Touch of Nature, Simple Friendship (both MDS)

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Stampin’ Write Markers- Real Red, Bermuda Bay, Sahara Sand, Chalk Marker

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Real Red

Accessories: Big Shot™, Framelits™- Chalk Talk, Window Frames; Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders- Chevron, Square Lattice, Punches-2 ½” Circle, Small Oval (retired), 5/8” Real Red Satin Ribbon (retired)

Thanks again for stopping by!   If you have not done so yet, I hope you will have a chance to enter your project into our DD77 DynamicDuos Color Challenge- we would love to see your creations!

Have a wonderful evening- God Bless!
