Thankful For....A Color and A Sketch Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers! 

Here is the second card that I created using the CQC253 ColourQ Challenge along with the Mojo357 Sketch Challenge. 

Hopefully you will have a chance to visit both challenge sites- so many wonderful Design Teams samples and entries!

To create this card:

Using the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge, ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock first using Summer Starfruit Classic Ink followed by Island Indigo Classic Ink and repeat again with Early Espresso Classic Ink.

Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Island Indigo and Early Espresso Classic Ink to the edges, trim and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, trim and mount onto a piece of Tempting Turquoise card base.  Apply additional Early Espresso Classic Ink over the edges to tone down the Tempting Turquoise cardstock.

For the back panel per the sketch, cut a piece of Tempting Turquoise Designer Series Paper (DSP) and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.

Stamp the panel using the splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Island Indigo Classic Ink and repeat again with Early Espresso Classic Ink.   Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Early Espresso Classic Ink to the edges and adhere to the card base.

Cut two pieces of the retired Soho Subway DSP and mount onto pieces of Early Espresso cardstock.   Sponge Early Espresso Classic Ink over the edges, stamp the Summer Starfruit panel using the Gorgeous Grunge splatter stamp using Early Espresso Classic Ink and add both pieces to the card front (again, per the sketch).

Adhere a piece of retired Soho Subway DSP onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock for the center strip.

Create the sentiment banner using Truly Grateful- stamp the sentiment with Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Apply Island Indigo and Early Espresso Classic Ink using a Sponge Dauber, use the Hexagon Punch to create the banner points and mount onto Early Espresso cardstock (also creating the banner with the Hexagon Punch).  

Add a strip of the Tempting Turquoise DSP  used for the back panel to the lower edge of the sentiment banner.    Use the Banner Punch and punch several banners from the Soho Subway DSP (Summer Starfruit, Island Indigo)  and Early Espresso cardstock.   Adhere the banners behind the sentiment and add to the central panel on the front of the card.

Add two small strips of the Summer Starfruit DSP to the Bronze Button to mimic thread- add to the card front onto the sentiment layer.

Add the retired Antique Copper Hodgepodge Hardware to the corner of the Summer Starfruit panel to finish off the card.

PPA197 Go in the Direction of Your Dreams

Hi Stampers!

I hope all of you are having a great week so far!  I have been busy preparing for an upcoming Demo meeting with my upline and fellow Demonstrators so I have not been able to share any creations yet but decided to create a quick card using the Pals Paper Arts PPA197 Sketch along with Designer Series Paper (DSP) along with another homemade map from My Digital Studio (MDS).

I hope you have the time to stop by the Pals Paper Arts site- great inspiration from the Design Team as well as the other entries!

To create this card:

Using My Digital Studio (MDS), position the images onto an 8.5x11 blank page and print out.  I used the World Map stamp brush image (I reduced the size) as well as the sentiment from Word Play stamp brush set.  One thing that I love about MDS for cards- the images may be retired in the rubber stamp catalog but are still current in MDS :-)

Color the map using AquaPainter™ and Pool Party Classic Ink for the water, Gumball Green and Crumb Cake Classic Ink for the land masses.  Trim and mount onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.

Add a piece of Soho Subway DSP onto the Early Espresso card base.  

Adhere a piece of Epic Day This and That DSP onto Early Espresso cardstock for the second diagonal layer on the card front and add the Naturals Button with Natural Linen Thread.  Mount this onto the card front on an angle per the sketch. 

  

Layer the 1 ¼” Burlap Ribbon onto the card front overlapping the diagonal layer with the button at the bottom.  Add a few pieces of Natural Linen Thread knotted on the one side over the burlap ribbon.

Add the map image to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Adhere the sentiment to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, trim and stamp with Off the Grid using Crumb Cake Classic Ink.  Use a Sponge Dauber to add additional Crumb Cake Classic Ink to tone down the white of the paper and adhere the knotted Natural Linen Thread to the corners and add to the front of the map/burlap using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish off the card. 

Stamp Sets:  World Map, Word Play (both MDS versions), Off the Grid

Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Crumb Cake, Gumball Green, Pool Party Classic Ink

Paper:  Whisper White, Early Espresso, Epic Day This and That DSP, Soho Subway DSP

Vintage Soho Subway

Hi Stampers! 

When I saw the PPA178colors at The Pals Paper Arts this week, I immediately thought of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper (DSP) and decided to pull out the page that has “Soho New York”.  I have found it a bit difficult to figure out what to do with this particular sheet of DSP, so I decided to create a vintage collage using previously stamped images along with distressing.

If you have not had the chance to stop by to visit The Pals Paper Arts site yet, I hope you will find the time – they have a fantastic Design Team and many wonderful entries each week!

To create this card:

Stamp the typewriter image from the retired set, Established Elegance and the Jumbo Wheel, Shop Around using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.

“Fussy-cut” out the typewriter and cut the wheeled images apart.  Use the Distressing Tool to distress the Shop Around images and apply Crumb Cake and Early Espresso Classic Ink with Sponge Daubers to “antique” the paper on all of the images.

Cut the Soho Subway DSP apart, distress the edges and apply Early Espresso Classic Ink. 

Use the Big Shot to emboss a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss the Soho Subway Summer Starfruit DSP.

Distress the edges of the embossed Summer Starfruit DSP layer and sponge Early Espresso Classic Ink to both of the embossed panels.  Adhere the Crisp Cantaloupe embossed panel to the Whisper White card base.

Adhere the Summer Starfruit layer to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock (distress the edges of the Early Espresso as well), add the 5/8” Early Espresso Triple Satin Ribbon bow and add to the Crisp Cantaloupe card base.

Arrange the elements onto the page and add the rolled flowers with the Pearls to finish off the card.

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe, Early Espresso, Soho Subway DSP

This card was difficult to photograph and does look better IRL :-) - While I had the colors out, I created another card (a Clean and Simple -CAS) and will post shortly...

2013 Dare To Get Dirty- Card #4

Hi Stampers! 

I hope all of you had a great weekend!!  I wanted to share the other cards that I created for the Splitcoaststampers 2013 Dare To Get DirtyChallenge.  Again, if you are a Fan Club Member and are interested in participating, here are some of the details :-)

This card was created for the UnderstandBlueB challenge:

Stamp the Established Elegance images using Early Espresso and Crisp Cantaloupe Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Color a few of the images with the Stampin’ Write Marker in Marina Mist. 

Punch the images with the 1” Square Punch, distress the edges using the Distressing Tool. 

Use a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake Classic Ink to “antique” the paper and adhere the pieces to a tag cut from Early Espresso cardstock with the Big Shot™ with the Chalk Talk Framelit™.

Distress the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper with the Distressing Tool and a Sponge Dauber using Crumb Cake Classic Ink, adhere to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock . 

Add an embossed piece of Whisper White cardstock – embossed with the Big Shot™ and the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Sponge Crumb Cake Classic Ink over the embossing, distress the edges and adhere to the bottom of the Early Espresso card base.

Add the 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon strip, add the Tea Lace Paper Doily, distressed tag and other elements (watercolored dress form, Everything Eleanor flowers and rolled flowers).

Stamp the sentiment from Wetlands using Early Espresso Classic Ink and distress in the same manner as above.

Adhere the 5/8” Early Espresso Triple Satin Ribbon bow and Pearls to finish off the card.

PPA164- Three Cards from One Terrific Sketch :-)

Hi Stampers! 

What a wonderful weekend so far!!   Yesterday we held our Ladies Ministry Card Making class and had a fabulous time- I will post the cards and instructions later this evening or early Monday (depending on my internet connection during our stormy or threatening of stormy weather :-)).  

In the meantime, I wanted to create a card using this week’s PPA164 sketch at Pals Paper Arts (love their sketches) but once I started, I ended up creating three separate cards with the same sketch- I love it when that happens!!! 

Again, if you have not already visited the Pals Paper Arts site, I urge you to take the time to do so- not only are the Design Team samples fabulous but they also have a wonderful gallery of the entries using this sketch.

To create card #1- Sunflower Sympathy:

Stamp the Sunflower background stamp using So Saffron Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock and cut into strips for the sketch.   Carefully cut part of the Whisper White cardstock away from the petals on the ends of the strips and bend the ends upwards.

Use the Big Shot™ to emboss a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Pretty Print Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Layer the trimmed Sunflower strips, cut to size and mount onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock.

Stamp the sentiment from Love & Sympathy onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punch out with the 1 3/8” Circle Punch.  Layer two 1 3/8” Circles from Basic Gray cardstock behind the sentiment to create a frame.

Layer the So Saffron cardstock to the card base, add the Basic Gray cardstock layer, the Designer Series Paper (from the Eastern Elegance series) and add the focal image layer along with the sentiment.

Add the Pearls to the corner and sentiment to finish off the card. 

  

Stamp Sets: Sunflower (background), Love & Sympathy

Ink: So Saffron, Basic Gray

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Gray, So Saffron, Eastern Elegance DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™,  Pretty Prints Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder,  1 3/8” Circle Punch, Pearls

To create the second card- Masculine Thank You (already gave this card to a man who does so much for others and we are so blessed to have him in our lives...)

With the Big Shot™ and the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, ink the smooth interior of the folder lightly using Early Espresso Classic ink and emboss a piece os Sahara Sand and Soft Suede cardstock.  Gently distress the edges using the Distressing Tool and sponge Early Espresso Classic Ink over the edges to “antique or age” the cardstock.

Cut the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper into strips and distress the edges with the Distressing Tool.  Tear the outside edge by hand and sponge Early Espresso Classic Ink over the edges, again, to further “age” the paper.

Mount the cardstock strips to the Sahara Sand Woodgrain layer, add the three Antique Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware brads and mount onto the Soft Suede Woodgrain layer- add this panel to your card base.

Stamp the clock from Clockworks (I used a previously printed and cut out clock from MDS that I had on hand)- color the brass areas with the Summer Starfruit Stampin’ Write marker and lightly age the clock face using a Sponge Dauber with Sahara Sand Classic Ink.  Add a few highlights with the White Gel Pen and sponge Early Espresso over the Summer Starfruit areas to “antique” the clock.

Add the Gold Trim (retired years ago) as a clock chain along with the sentiment to finish off the card.     

Stamp Sets: Clockworks, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink:  Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Stampin’ Write Markers- Summer Starfuit

Paper: Sahara Sand, Soft Suede,  Soho Subway Designer Series Paper

Accessories:  Big Shot™,  Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing  Folder, Sponge Daubers, Antique Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware (retired), Gold Twine (retired)

To create the third card- Trust in The Lord Musical Medley 

Use the Big Shot with the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Modern Medley Designer Series Paper(DSP). 

Mount this layer onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and again onto Basic Black.

Cut the strips from the musical note paper from the Modern Medley DSP and adhere to the card per the sketch.

Stamp the verse from Trust God using Basic Black Classic Ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, punch out with the  1 3/8” Circle Punch and add the additional 1 3/8” Circles from Basic Black and Very Vanilla behind the sentiment to create the frame. 

Use the Big Shot with the Chalk Talk Framelits™ to cut the frame out of Basic Black, add the sentiment and 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon bow.

Add to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals™ and add the Pearls to finish off the card. Quick and easy- again, I love the simplicity of this sketch!!

SC250 Honeycomb Birthday

Hi Stampers! 

I wanted to play with the new hostess set, Postage Collection and decided to use the Splitcoaststampers SC250 Sketch Challenge (this was an older sketch challenge but that is what I love about Splitcoaststampers Challenges- you can go back and review and do them whenever you like :-))  I hope to take the time to go back and complete a card for each sketch and color challenge one day :-)

To create this card:

Use the Big Shot™ along with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Soho Subway Designer Series Paper and adhere to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock. 

Also emboss a piece of So Saffron cardstock using the Hexagon Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder (ink the smooth surface of the embossing folder with Sahara Sand Classic Ink prior to embossing).   Cut along the edges by hand and adhere to the center of the background panel.

Ink the wreath stamp and the bee from Postage Collection using Early Espresso Classic Ink and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.  Color the bee with Stampin’ Write markers in So Saffron and Pool Party and the wreath with Gumball Green.

Punch the wreath/bee image out with the 1 ¼” Circle Punch and sponge Sahara Sand Classic Ink over the edges.  Mount onto circles punched from Early Espresso cardstock using the 1 3/8” Circle Punch.

Add the Paper Tea Lace Doily and the bee circle images using Stampin’ Dimensionals® and add the ½” Early Espresso Quilted Satin Ribbon Bow (retired) to the top of the card.

Stamp the sentiment from Wetlands using Early Espresso Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, add the bee image and cut the banners using a 1” Square Punch.  Mount onto Early Espresso cardstock and adhere to the card front.

Add the Pearls and spray the entire card with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (retired as well) to give a bit of shimmer (you cannot see the shimmer in the photograph but it is there).

Ink: Early Espresso, Sahara Sand; Stampin’ Write Markers- So Saffron, Pool Party, Gumball Green

Thinking of You- A Day at the Beach

Hi Stampers!!

I wanted to use the new stamp set, Wetlands to create a card using the CCMC256 Create withConnie and Mary Color Challenge along with Freshly Made Sketches FMS90Challenge (if you have a chance, take the time to visit each site and check out their great designs)!!

This card was fairly quick to create:

Using the 1 ¼” Circle Punch, punch out a mask from scrap paper and position the circle portion onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock (for the moon/sun).   Use the AquaPainter™ to pick up some ink from the Summer Starfruit Classic Ink pad and loosely apply to the sky portion, add a bit of Island Indigo for the ocean and just a hint of Early Espresso (very diluted) for the sand area.

Blot the wet ink dry with a paper towel and allow to scene to dry completely before stamping the sentiment and bird image using Early Espresso Classic Ink. Use the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write marker to add a few flying birds by hand and also add a bit of spritzing with the retired Color Spritzer Tool to give the illusion of the beach.

Adhere the entire panel onto Early Espresso cardstock and add the photo corners using the retired Photo Corner Punch, along with the Vintage Trinket Brad in the corner.

Create the background Designer Series Paper (DSP) panel by adhering a piece of the Subway Soho Designer Series Paper (I used the NY Map image) onto a piece of Early Espresso cardstock, mount onto a layer of Island Indigo cardstock and then again onto another Early Espresso cardstock layer before adding to your card base.

Create the vertical panel of using Early Espresso cardstock with a strip of the Summer Starfruit and Island Indigo DSP from the Soho Subway DSP pack- I love these designs in this DSP- great for masculine or feminine cards!!

Ink the starfish and sand dollar image from By The Seashore with Early Espresso and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.  Carefully cut out and sponge Summer Starfruit and Island Indigo Classic Ink onto each image.

Adhere the focal image along with the starfish with the sand dollar images using Stampin’ Dimensionals® to finish of this quick, easy card!
