PPA249 Get Well Wishes

Hi Stampers!

Here is another card that I created this past weekend using the Pals Paper Arts PPA249 Sketch Challenge along with the Splitcoaststampers Free For All F4A264 Challenge (see details here and gallery here).

I decided to pull out a few scraps to create this card and used a previously printed digital image from My Digital Studio (MDS), but of course, the actual stamp image would work as well

If you have not had a chance to do so, I hope you will find the time to visit the above sites- they have wonderfully diverse Design Team samples as well as inspiration from their galleries!

To create this card:

Using MDS, position the chicken image onto a blank 8.5 x 11 document and print out onto Whisper White cardstock.

Color the image using Stampin’ Up! Watercolor pencils (do not dilute) and punch out using the 2 ½” Circle Punch.  Apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Antique Linen Distress Stain to “antique” the paper and stamp the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge using Memento® Tuxedo Black Ink.

Punch another circle from Basic Black cardstock, split the circle in half and position behind the focal image.

Apply Ranger® Tim Holtz® Antique Linen Distress Stain to antique the retired chicken wire and blue swirl Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper (DSP).  Trim the chicken wire panel and mount onto the Basic Black card base.

Ink the En Francais background stamp using Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and randomly stamp across both DSP panels and mount the blue swirled panel onto Basic Black cardstock.

Add the crocheted lace trim and ¼” Black Gingham ribbon along with the retired ribbon slide from the Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware Collection.

Mount the focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®,  add the sentiment banner and add the Pearls to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Countryside, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Gorgeous Grunge, En Francais

Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink, Ranger® Tim Holtz® Antique Linen Distress Stain; Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, retired Beau Chateau DSP

Accessories: Punches- 2 ½” Circle, Banner; Sponge Dauber, retired ¼” Black Gingham Ribbon, retired Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware, Pearls, crochet trim from my stash

Thanks again for visiting- I hope you have a marvelous Monday!!

Vintage Mixed Media Get Well Card- A Color, Sketch and Theme Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!!

I decided to spend some time in my craft room this past evening and create a Mixed Media card using the PPA239Color Challenge along with the Mojo Monday #384 Sketch and FM197 "We're Heading to the Farm" Theme

Again, I hope you will take the time to visit the above sites- gorgeous Design Team creations as well as wonderful galleries and inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Cut the rooster image from the retired Beau Château Designer Series Paper and use Stampin’ Write markers to add additional color- Real Red, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.

Use Soft Suede Classic Ink with the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge to add additional distressing and sponge Crumb Cake along with Soft Suede Classic Ink around the edges with a Sponge Dauber.

Use a Faber-Castell White Pitt Pen marker to add the white highlights and apply Plaid® Gloss Mod Podge®,  over the entire image (be careful around the colored areas since the Mod Podge® is also water based).

Mount the rooster image onto Real Red cardstock and carefully cut around the edge, sponge with Soft Suede Classic Ink and distress with your fingernail.

Ink the retired background stamp, French Script with Soft Suede Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.

Distress the edges with the Distressing Tool and add additional Soft Suede Classic Ink using a Sponge Dauber.

Mount the distressed Crumb Cake background onto a piece of Real Red cardstock.  Use a Sponge Dauber with Soft Suede Classic Ink and a honeycomb stencil to add additional detail to the background.

Adhere the 7/8” Sahara Sand Lace Trim to the sides and add the previously embossed Real Red strips (embossed with the retired Finial Press Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and Soft Suede Classic Ink sponged over the embossing and the edges were distressed as well).

Cut a panel from Soft Suede cardstock and emboss using the Big Shot™ and the Honeycomb Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder.  Use your finger to apply Gesso® to the honeycomb background and when dried, “huff” onto the French Script background stamp to re-moisten the Soft Suede ink and stamp over the embossed panel.

Add a layer of Plaid® Gloss Mod Podge®, to the honeycomb panel and mount onto the background panel.

Add the knotted Hemp Twine and adhere the entire panel onto the Crumb Cake card base.

Create the rolled roses from Real Red cardstock using the 1 ¼” and 1 ¾” Scallop Circle Punches (punch two from the 1 ¾” Punch and one from the 1 ¼” Punch, hand cut a wavy spiral toward the center on each one, run each through the retired Crimping Tool, roll up and adhere the center using a Hot Glue Gun).

Add the Soft Suede cardstock leaves and roses to the panel and use your finger to apply Gesso® to both the petals and leaves.   Once the Gesso® has dried, add Plaid® Gloss Mod Podge® over the roses and leaves.

Stamp the sentiment using Soft Suede Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock, trim and create the banner ends using the Hexagon Punch.  Use a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Classic Ink to add distressing and stamp with the large splatter image and Soft Suede Classic Ink.

Mount the sentiment onto Real Red cardstock, add the banners with the Hexagon Punch, apply Plaid® Gloss Mod Podge® and adhere to the card front along with the rooster image using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.

Add Pearls to the corners of the card and sentiment.  Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Soft Suede Classic Ink along all of the edges of the Crumb Cake card base to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets:  Express Yourself, Gorgeous Grunge, French Script background

Ink: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede; Stampin’ Write Markers- Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Real Red; Faber-Castell White Pitt Pen

Paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Real Red; retired Beau Château DSP

Bible Verse Memory Album- Prov 17:17 A Friend Loves at All Times

Hi Stampers!

I am working on organizing my craft storage area and decided to create a project using some of my retired “stash” :-)

I am a little late getting started for the Divine Design Bible Verse Challenge (it started in January and the goal is to create one card, scrapbook page, project a month with a verse that you memorize so at the end of the year, you have memorized at least twelve verses).

This album has six hearts (twelve “pages”) and was perfect for the entire year!

I love the idea of this monthly challenge so I plan on creating additional cards/projects for the rest of the year.

I will post each page as a separate post so I can link the Splitcoaststampers gallery to the specific post- here is the first page of the album as well as the overall picture of the project.

The verses used are free digital images from Word Art Wednesday (downloaded into My Digital Studio (MDS) and printed onto Very Vanilla cardstock).
The basic steps are as follows:
Using retired Beau Château Designer Series Paper (DSP), cover the chipboard with Tombow Mono Liquid Glue and adhere the DSP.
Using MDS, position the verses onto the page to allow the best use of space to allow cutting the images out with Framelits™, punches or as banners.
“Antique” the DSP using Ranger™ Tim Holtz® Distress Stain (Tea Dye and Vintage Photo) and add 3/8” Venetian Crochet Trim along with 5/8” Early Espresso Satin Ribbon (retired) or Early Espresso cardstock.
Create the rolled flowers from cardstock and DSP (I used Pink Pirouette and Hello Honey cardstock as well as Baja Breeze retired DSP) using punches- 2 ⅜”, 1 ¾”  and 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punches.   Spiral cut by hand a wavy line from the outside of the scallop toward the center and roll up to create the rose (hereis a basic tutorial from Splitcoaststampers).
“Antique” the flowers using Ranger™ Tim Holtz® Distress Stain (Tea Dye and Vintage Photo) and punch out the leaves using the Bird Builder Punch from Early Espresso cardstock.
 Front Page/Page One:
“A friend loves at all times” Proverbs 17:17
In addition to the elements noted above, add a piece of White Tea Lace Paper Doily (“antiqued” with Ranger™ Tim Holtz® Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Stain)  along with Pearls.
Darken the words of Memories with Watercolor Pencils and cut the verse out with the Big Shot™ using the Project Life® Cards and Labels Framelits™.
Stamp Sets:  None, Verses- free Digital Images from Word Art Wednesday
Ink: Printer Ink- Black, Ranger™ Tim Holtz® Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Stain
Paper: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette, Beau Château DSP, Baja Breeze DSP
Accessories:  Big Shot™, Project Life® Cards and Labels Framelits™, White Lace Paper Doily, Punches: 2 ⅜”, 1 ¾”  and 1 ¼” Scallop Circle, Bird Builder, 3/8” Venetian Crochet Lace Trim
Thanks again for visiting- I will be posting the remaining pages in separate posts

Have a great week and God Bless!

Love You with Roses, Burlap, Ribbon and Lace!!

Hi Stampers!

I am so thankful that I had a chance to play around in my stamp room this weekend- Saturday, a few friends and I had the privilege of creating cards that will be sent to several families that are dealing with many challenges (this was truly a blessing for us to create the cards and pray for these families).  I will not be sharing these cards since we want to make sure the families have their privacy, but I hope they enjoy them as much as we had fun making them!

Today I was able to finish up the card that I started for the PPA189 Pals Paper Arts SketchChallenge along with the Card Concept#2 Challenge to use texture. I created another Shabby Chic style card and added roses, ribbons, burlap and lace for texture (not to mention the distressing)- what a combination :-) !

If you have not visited either site yet, I sincerely hope you will take the time to do so.  Both sites have fantastic Design Teams not to mention all of the entries for the challenges- so much inspiration!

To create this card:
Ink the sentiment from the retired set, Short and Sweet using Soft Suede Classic Ink and stamp onto a piece of the retired Designer Series Paper (DSP), Beau Chateau.  Trim and cut the banner points using the Hexagon Punch (or you could cut by hand).
Cut a rectangular piece of the Beau Chateau DSP for the front rectangle of the sketch (making sure that you have the rooster image in the rectangle toward the right hand side).  Use the Distressing Tool (gently) to distress the paper and adhere to a piece of Soft Suede cardstock.  Use a Sponge Dauber with Soft Suede Classic Ink to lightly ink around the edges and on the design to “antique” the paper a bit.  Adhere the entire panel onto a piece of Pink Pirouette and lightly sponge additional Soft Suede over the Pink Pirouette layer as well.
Cut the chicken wire piece of Beau Chateau approx. 4” x 5 ¼” and distress with the Distressing Tool and by hand.  Adhere to a piece of Soft Suede cardstock (approx. 1/8” larger than the DSP layer.  Use the Sponge Dauber to apply Soft Suede Classic Ink over the edges and interior of the panel (to “age” the paper a bit).
Trim another piece in the Beau Chateau DSP series and adhere to a piece of Soft Suede (distressing the edges and sponging in the same manner as noted above).  Add this vertical panel to the background layer per the sketch and adhere the horizontal strip of Burlap Ribbon tucking the ends behind the background layer.
Tuck a few scraps of the lace from the retired Artisan Embellishments kit under the Burlap Ribbon (I used my Glue Gun to adhere to the burlap).
To create the roses:
The larger roses are created with the 2 3/8” Scallop Circle-punch one each from Pink Pirouette and Marina Mist cardstock.  Starting on the outside, cut a wavy spiral towards the center, crimp twice with the retired Crimping Tool and start to roll up from the outside edge toward the center.  I have been using my Hot Glue Gun to finish up the roses but you could use the Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive.
Take the same steps as above for the smaller roses- on this card, two each from the Pink Pirouette and Marina Mist cardstock using the 1 ¾” Scallop Circle Punch and two from Marina Mist cardstock only using the 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punch.     Here is a written tutorial atSplitcoaststampers to show the basic idea :-)
Use the Bird Builder Punch to punch out the leaves from Soft Suede cardstock.  Adhere the roses and leaves to the rooster panel using either a Hot Glue Gun and/or Mini Glue Dots (or Tombow Multi-Purpose).
Add the triple satin ribbon bow (ribbon from my stash) to the card and adhere the rooster panel and sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals®.  Add the Pearls to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets: Short and Sweet
Ink: Soft Suede
Paper/Cardstock:  Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede, retired Beau Chateau DSP
Accessories: Punches- 2 3/8”, 1 ¾”, 1 ¼” Scallop Circle, Sponge Dauber, Distressing Tool, 1 ¼” Burlap Ribbon, Artisan Embellishments Kit (Lace scraps), Pearls,  Stampin’ Dimensionals®, Hot Glue Gun (optional)
Just a note- the flowers on this card are dimensional so I would recommend either hand delivery or mailing in a small box (or one of our Wood Mount cases).

Thanks again for stopping by- I hope all of you have a wonderful week creating!!

SSC223 Get Well Soon

Hi Stampers!
It has been a stressful week at my accounting job, so after Awana this evening, I decided that I need a “de-stress” with my card making and what better way than with the Operators at Stamping411 :-).
I wanted to create a fairly quick, easy card and I love the SSC223 sketch this week, so I chose to keep it simple by using Designer Paper for the background.
This sketch has so many possibilities, and again, the Stamping411 Design Team has done a fabulous job! If you have a chance to visit, check them out along with all of the other gorgeous entries!

To create this card:

With the Big Shot™, emboss a piece of the Beau Château Designer Series Paper with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder and a piece of Pink Pirouette with the Oval Designer Frame Textured Impressions™ Folder (I stamped the sentiment first in Soft Suede before embossing) .

Trim around the oval frame, cut off one end of the Designer Series Paper (to flip over and use the reverse side) and tear the upper right hand corner.  Use a Sponge Dauber with Soft Suede ink to distress the layers a bit and adhere the DSP onto Soft Suede.

Use the Crimper to crimp the exposed corner of the Soft Suede background and a piece of Marina Mist cardstock.  Punch the edge of the Marina Mist with the Scallop Trim Border Punch and adhere over the cut edge of the DSP.

Create the rolled flowers using the 1 3/8” Circle Punch (cut a spiral and roll up- quick and easy) and insert a pearl into the center of each flower (sometimes this can be the trickiest part of the card).

Attach the ribbon and bow, oval with sentiment and the rolled flowers (I used mini glue dots to adhere the flowers to the card).

Stamp Sets:  Sincere Sentiments

InkSoft Suede

Cardstock: Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede, Beau Château DSP

Accessories:  Big Shot™, Square Lattice and Oval Designer Frames Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folders , Scallop Trim Border and 1 3/8” Circle Punches, Sponge Dauber, Crimper, 3/8” Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon, Pearls

Thanks again for stopping by and blessing my life with you! I hope all of you have a great week stamping and take some time to "de-stress" :-)!
