The World Is A Better Place

Hi Friends!

As I mentioned in previous posts, I enjoy participating in online challenges created this card for Ann's #PP498 “Fun & Fancy Folds” Challenge at The Paper Players using the retired Stampin’ Up! People Like You stamp set.

This is another stamp that I have not used in ages and thought it would be perfect for this special fold challenge.

I modified the SC67 Sketch from Splitcoaststampers a bit for the layout (the #2 panel is a bit larger than the original sketch) and am also participating with The Flower Challenge #46 “Summer/Winter” Challenge.

If you have not had a chance to visit the above challenge sites yet, I encourage you to do so, gorgeous inspiration from all!

To create this card:

Score and fold a 5 ½” x 9 ¼”piece of cardstock at 2 ½” on both ends. Fold the panel to create the gate fold.

Emboss a 4 ¼” x 5 ¼” piece of white cardstock with a French Script embossing folder, cut into two panels and mount onto the front folds.

Add a strip of black cardstock to lengthen the front panels and square up the edges (you may not need to do this, but unfortunately I did, lol!) :-)

Ink the People Like You stamp using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp onto a piece of white alcohol-friendly cardstock and color the image with alcohol markers. Add a few white highlights to the flower centers using an extra fine white paint pen.

Die cut the floral panel with a stitched rectangle die, mount onto black cardstock and trim close to the edge.

Adhere the panel onto the front of the card to overlap the front panels.

Stamp Sets: People Like You (retired Stampin’ Up!)

Ink/Mediums: Memento™ Tuxedo Black; Arteza™ Alcohol Markers- Aqua, Bright Pink, Light Gray, Black, Green; Sharpie® Extra Fine White Paint Pen

Cardstock/Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: Gemini, Jr.™, Dies- MFT Rectangle Stitched A2 STAX Set 1, Tim Holtz™ Alterations™ Sizzix™ French Script Embossing Folder

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by- I hope all of you have a fabulous week!

DTGD15dinib- Seashore Hello

Hi Stampers!!

Even though the official 2015 Dare to Get Dirty Challenge is now over, I wanted to share another card that I created as a sample maker for my good friend, Dina’s  DTGD15dinib Challenge (FYI- you can still create cards throughout the year and link to the challenges although the official challenge is over and you would not be eligible for the drawing for the vendor prizes) :-)

As I mentioned in my previous posts, Dare to Get Dirty is an annual event that allows the Splitcoaststampers’ Fan Club members to participate in several challenges hosted by the Dirty Dozen Girls (current and alumni, like me) in creating cards but also the possibility to receive prizes from the member companies (if interested in more details, please see the beginning of this post).

Again, one major rule of participation in the Dare To Get Dirty Challenges is that the actual challenge details are secret to all except the Fan Club Members…I can share the card but not the details on the actual challenge (unfortunately, any details on this card will reveal the challenge details, so if you have any questions, please let me know in the comment area).

It is hard to see in the photo, but this card has a modified Gate Fold and I have decorated the inside as well :-)

Stamp Sets: Banner Blast, Lighthouse with Decoy (Impression Obsession)
Paper:  Whisper White, Early Espresso, Soft Sky, retired This and That Epic Day DSP

Ink: Stāz-On® Jet Black Ink, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Stampin' Write Markers- Smoky Slate, Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar, Basic Black

Accessories: Big Shot™, Woodgrain Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, AquaPainter™, Banner Punch, Natural Twine, Sponge Dauber

Thanks again for visiting! I still have one final DTGD15 Hostess Sample card to share (hopefully within the next few days)....Have a great weekend, my friends!

SUO119 Trust God- A Fun Fold with A Color Challenge :-)

Hi Stampers!

It’s time for the new SUO119 “Fun Folds” Challenge and I decided to use the Gate Fold technique for my “fun fold” and incorporated the JustUs Girls JUGS285 Color Challenge.

I hope you will find the time to check the both challenge sites and create your own Stampin’ Up! “Fun Fold” project!!

To create this card:
Create the card base from Basic Black cardstock- I used the Splitcoaststampers Gate Fold Card tutorial located here for my base.
Layer the pieces of Back to Black Designer Series Paper (DSP) to the front two panels and cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to fit the inside main panel.
Ink the flower and leaf image from Choose Happiness with Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp repeatedly onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock as well as onto the Whisper White interior card panel (mask the flowers for the panel as you stamp).
Ink the bird image with Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink and stamp onto a piece of Acetate, turn the Acetate over so that the wet ink is on the bottom and press onto the Whisper White cardstock (for a “mirror” image).  Use the Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker to darken the bird image.
Color the flowers using the Calypso Coral Light and
Showing the view when opened from the side :-)
Medium Blendabilities™ markers and use the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write marker to add shadows to the leaves.  I added additional Basic Black to the stamped areas to darken, but this step may not be needed (I think I need to re-ink my Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink pad- note to self :-))    Add a few highlights to the center with the White Gel Pen.
Carefully cut out (“fussy-cut”) three of the flowers and leaf stems along with the bird image.
Stamp the sentiment from Trust God and the border from Choose Happiness below the sentiment with Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.
Use the Big Shot™ with the Chalk Talk Framelits™ to cut out the sentiment (cut another Chalk Talk Framelit™ the same size from Basic Black cardstock as well).
Cut the Basic Black frame in half and adhere behind the sentiment.
Showing the view with the inside panel :-)
Mount the sentiment to the left “gate” panel, add the flowers using Stampin’ Dimensionals®, positioning the lower right hand flower to be used as the closure for the card.  Adhere the leaf stems behind the flowers and add the bird image to the lower left of the sentiment.
Stamp the large splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and add a bit of “splatter” to the interior panel, mount the panel to the interior to finish off the card.
Stamp Sets:  Choose Happiness, Trust God, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Memento™ Tuxedo Black Ink; Stampin’ Blendabilities™  Calypso Coral Light and Medium Marker, Stampin’ Write Smoky Slate Marker, White Gel Pen
Paper/Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Back to Black DSP
Accessories: Big Shot™, Chalk Talk Framelits™

Thanks again for taking the time to visit – I hope that you will create your own Stampin’ Up! Only project and play along with our “Fun Fold” challenge!

Harvest of Thanks- A GateFold for the Pals Paper Arts!

Hi Again Stampers!

I wanted to create one more card this evening and even though I am too late for the deadline, I just loved the Pals Paper Arts PPA165 Sketch  and decided to create a GateFold card :-)    I hope that you will find the time to visit their site- they now have two different Design Teams and they rotate each week for a new challenge, so again, tons of inspiration!!

This sketch seemed perfect for a Gate Fold card- so to create this card:

GateFold- Open
Ink up the large label stamp from Harvest of Thanks using Stampin’ Write markers in Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi and stamp onto Whisper White cardstock.

Use the Distressing Tool to distress the edges and a Sponge Dauber with Crumb Cake to antique the paper.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Apothecary Accents Framelits™ to cut out the image and also cut a piece from Chocolate Chip.   Cut the Chocolate Chip layer in half horizontally to layer behind the focal image.

Use the Big Shot™ with the Circle Framelits™ to cut a circle from the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper and also a circle the same size using Chocolate Chip cardstock.  Cut the Chocolate Chip circle in half and layer behind the DSP circle and adhere the focal image label.

Use the Simpy Score™ Tool to create the GateFold from Whisper White cardstock and layer Chocolate Chip cardstock on the two gate folds in the front  (on second thought, I should have created the card base using Chocolate Chip cardstock- hindsight is 20/20 :-)))… Adhere a piece of embossed Sweater Weather DSP on both sides (Soft Sky Polka Dot pieces using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder) .

Card in Closed Position
Use the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch to punch out a piece from Chocolate Chip cardstock and attach to the bottom of a piece of Crushed Curry DSP (again from Sweater Weather), distress with the Distressing Tool and add to the right hand panel per the sketch.

Add the Chocolate Chip DSP panel in the center of the card as well as a piece along the lower right hand panel (distress as well) along with the Antique Brad and Gratitude sentiment (stamped in Chocolate Chip onto Whisper White and cut with the Big Shot™ and  the Bitty Banners Framelits™ to finish off the card.

Stamp Sets: Harvest of Thanks

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Stampin’ Write Markers- Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi

Paper/Cardstock:  Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Sweater Weather DSP

Accessories: Big Shot™, Apothecary Accents Framelits™, Circle Framelits™, Bitty Banner Framelits™, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, Distressing Tool, Sponge Dauber, Antique Brad

Thanks again for visiting and I hope you have a terrific Tuesday!!

Midnight Silver- Two Challenges in One!

Hi Stampers!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend-I know I enjoyed the extra time off from my accounting job :-) !!  I spent most of yesterday trying to catch up on one of the designs for my Christmas cards (will post this card tomorrow) but today, decided to create a fancy fold card for this week’s Hand StampedSentiments HSSTC145 Challenge along with the colors from this week’s DynamicDuos#30 Challenge (if you have not visited their sites yet, the samples at both are gorgeous)!

This card is a Clean and Simple (CAS) Gatefold Card (see the Splitcoaststampers’ Tutorial here- of course, I used my Simply Scored™ Tool).

Create the base for the Gate Fold card using Whisper White cardstock- use a scoring tool or bone folder.

Front view partially open
With the Big Shot™ and the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions™ Embossing Folder, emboss a piece of Silver Metallic cardstock.  Adhere the embossed panels to the two front sides of the “gate” on the card base.

Stamp the sentiment and ornament using Midnight Muse Classic Ink onto Whisper White cardstock.  Cut the ornament using the Big Shot™ with the Holiday Ornaments Framelits™ Die and create a basic panel with the sentiment (mounted onto Midnight Muse cardstock).

Adhere the ornament with Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the panel and mount the panel onto the left hand “gate” fold only.

Another front view showing ornament & sentiment
Attach the 5/8” Whisper White Organza Ribbon bow and Rhinestones to finish off the outside of the card.  I  decorated the inside with a few stamps and layers - remember to leave room for personalizing :-)

Stamp Sets: Ornament Keepsakes, More Merry Messages, First Christmas (inside)

Ink: Midnight Muse

Paper: Whisper White, Midnight Muse, Silver Metallic

A simple message inside
Accessories:  Big Shot™, Vintage Wallpaper Impressions™ Embossing Folder, Holiday Ornaments Framelits™ Die, 5/8” Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Rhinestones

Thanks again for stopping by and if you have a chance, stop by tomorrow eve. to see the "hybrid" Christmas :-)).  I hope all of you have a marvelous Monday and God Bless!

Triple Treat Gatefold Card- Three Challenges in One!

Hi Stampers!

It has been an extremely busy week, but finally I had a chance to spend a few minutes in my craft room stamping!

I decided to make a CAS card for three of my  favorite weekly challenges- The Paper Players PP61 Sketch Challenge, the Hand StampedSentiments HSSMC82 Monochromatic Challenge and the Friday Mashup FM22 GatefoldChallenge.

If you have a chance, stop by their sites and you find wonderful samples and ideas galore!

To create this card:

Using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, score a piece of 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” Whisper White cardstock at 2 1/8” and 6 3/8” to create the folds needed for the Gatefold Technique.

With the Embossing Buddy®, de-static a piece of Whisper White and stamp the Triple Treat Flower with Versamark ink.  Apply Black Stampin’ Emboss® Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.

Stamp a second flower with Basic Gray Classic Ink, punch the center section of both flowers out with the 5-Petal Punch, the centers with the ½” Circle Punch and the outside edge with the Fancy Flower Punch.

Adhere the Designer Paper (1 7/8” x 5 ¼”) to the front panels and a piece 4" x 5 1/4" inside of the card.  Adhere the 5/8” Black Satin Ribbon over the front edges on both sides of the Gatefold.

Mount the punched out flower image onto Whisper White cardstock (punched with the 2 ½” Circle Punch) and mount the entire focal image onto a 3” Circle of Basic Black cardstock.  Adhere the left side of the focal image onto the left panel of the card and attach the bow to the top of the circle.

Use a Filigree Designer Brad on the right panel to finish off the card (this will keep the "gate" closed by tucking the circle behind the brad).

Stamp Sets:  Triple Treat Flower
 Ink: Versamark®, Basic Gray
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Night and Day DSP (retired)
Accessories:  Big Shot™, 3” Originals Circle Die, Embossing Buddy®, Black Stampin’ Emboss® Powder, Heat Tool, Punches- ½” Circle, 5-Petal, Fancy Flower, 2 ½” Circle, 5/16” Hand-Held, 5/8” Basic Black Satin Ribbon, Filigree Brad

Thanks again for stopping by- have a great Labor Day weekend!
